Shahla Haeri is WRONG. The Jews, the Christians, the Zoroastrians and the Bahais did not participate in the Revolution. They absolutely refused to go out in the streets and shout marg bar Shah. If, according to what shahla says, the Iranians did not want "a religious revivalist movement" why the hell would they support Khomeini - a Mullah!! All the female adherents of Khomeini were already wearing full hijab. Rev. was not about Freedom; it was about an alternate gov. an Islamic gov.
