English is one of the few western European languages that's been saved from that sound lol (thanks to England being in an island). That's exactly what I said when I started learning French and German haha.

I happen to think that Standard French sounds exaggerated with the nasal sounds (-in, -an, -on, etc.) and don't even get me started on Canadian French. English sounds like a cat purring. Even in Filipino, my native language, we sound like chickens when we talk. I happen to think German sounds really sexy and energetic and that Japanese is just pure awesome. I speak French, English, Filipino and a bit of German so I'm not biased.
