So THATS why...OK...I did this once on acident. I was just flying around and when I landed near Chain Chomp, Koopa just randomly started talking. I got freaked out. Now I know it was because I triple jumped in front of him. I've never tried this in the DS version because when I did it in the N64 version, it was an acident. I'll go try the DS version now.

OK, so I did some experamenting. It doesn't work in the DS version, but a similar glitch happens. You triple jump in front of Koopa and then fly up and grab the pole on top of the mountain and the instant you touch the pole the race music starts. Koopa doesn't talk to you though. And the timer doesn't apear. It just ameks the race music start.
