@theshaggyshow I live in a country with a two tiered healthcare system (a Private & Universal Healthcare system that works alongside one another). It's 3.22 am here, I could pick up the phone right now & have a Doctor to my house within 2-3 hrs, with no out of pocket expenses. If I wanted to wait until tomorrow, I could go to my local medical centre, & get a Doctor's appointment within around 45 minutes. I consider the taxes we pay to be more than reasonable for the healthcare we receive here.

I in London, worried, about my prostate rang my doctor on a Wed morning made an appointment with him for the Friday. He then authorised a blood test, which I had on the Monday, and a MRI Scan for the following week. Both tests proved negative and none of this cost me a cent If I had had a problem then all treatment would have been free.

The good stuff, money for community clinics where Dr.s will be offered an opportunity to have their student loans forgiven if they sign up for several years. Also, there will be an increase in the number of Dr.s in the US. i think you are wrong when it comes to the student loans,first because the gov't will be the only one who can provide them,means no competition and they can set the therms for it,so if they need more money (and iam sure they will) they can raise the interest on them,plus you can not sue them,secondly i believe the only reason why it is attached to the HC, is to kept the HC in budget, but thats just my opinion

As for outsourcing, research the use of tariffs in our history and how they kept production and jobs here. I have no problem with a portion of my taxes also being given to people who either cannot work or need to stay home with their children in the form of benefits (UK's welfare). I have never been out of work since finishing my education. You are correct, healthcare is not free, but it should be financed through taxes, not insurance. Back in the good days, the phone,gas,rail etc was all govt controlled. We can all dream :)

Well I used to work in Great Britain. The National Health Care system seems to work pretty good over there. None of the stuff you descibed ev er happens in the UK.

@theshaggyshow I live in a country with a two tiered healthcare system (a Private & Universal Healthcare system that works alongside one another). It's 3.22 am here, I could pick up the phone right now & have a Doctor to my house within 2-3 hrs, with no out of pocket expenses. If I wanted to wait until tomorrow, I could go to my local medical centre, & get a Doctor's appointment within around 45 minutes. I consider the taxes we pay to be more than reasonable for the healthcare we receive here.

I in London, worried, about my prostate rang my doctor on a Wed morning made an appointment with him for the Friday. He then authorised a blood test, which I had on the Monday, and a MRI Scan for the following week. Both tests proved negative and none of this cost me a cent If I had had a problem then all treatment would have been free.

Also schools use a shitload of money for things like computers and whatnot. Just black board and a class set of txtbooks is enuff. That's all i use in skl. Were the rest of the money at?

I'm Canadian, and we don't wait months to see a doctor. The wait can be anywhere from a few days to weeks. But you can ALWAYS see a doctor within the day (if you go to a medicentre or hospital).
And although we wait for surgeries, I'd rather wait 3 weeks to get a surgery (that I don't have to pay for) than be told that my insurance company won't pay for my surgery, so I'll either die ('cause I can't get the surgery) or I'll die paying for it.

Lots of stuff in the bill, some good, some not so good. The good stuff, money for community clinics where Dr.s will be offered an opportunity to have their student loans forgiven if they sign up for several years. Also, there will be an increase in the number of Dr.s in the US. The government is also taking back control of the student loans and saving billions in the process which will go out to students in the Pell Grant program. Much more to talk about. Peace.

i think you are wrong when it comes to the student loans,first because the gov't will be the only one who can provide them,means no competition and they can set the therms for it,so if they need more money (and iam sure they will) they can raise the interest on them,plus you can not sue them,secondly i believe the only reason why it is attached to the HC, is to kept the HC in budget, but thats just my opinion

States are at fault also. Alaska has a 70% debt to GDP ratio thanks to Palin. California is about 40%. What has happened, I really don't know, but I do believe that the ultra rich are having it all too good right now. Peace.

As for outsourcing, research the use of tariffs in our history and how they kept production and jobs here. @recyclecongress I work hard and paid for my leg operation through taxes. I have no problem with a portion of my taxes also being given to people who either cannot work or need to stay home with their children in the form of benefits (UK's welfare). I have never been out of work since finishing my education. You are correct, healthcare is not free, but it should be financed through taxes, not insurance. Back in the good days, the phone,gas,rail etc was all govt controlled. We can all dream :)

Throughout most of Europe socialist run healthcare seems to work. Cuba has socialist healthcare, the poorest of the poor stands in line with the richest for treatment. Well I used to work in Great Britain. The National Health Care system seems to work pretty good over there. None of the stuff you descibed ev er happens in the UK.
When I had food poisoning in 2006, I was treated right away--even though I wasn't british.

The Canadians have had some problems but they have taken democratic action to hold their government responsible and the government has made great improvements and reduced waiting times.
