The servile image, particularly with minoriities was acceptable and somewhat expected back then.. Oddly, it was another violinist (of sorts), comedian Jack Benny, who helped changed that image in the media. On screen, his servant Rochester (played by Eddie Anderson) was an equal.
This was a series of three short films centering on Rubinstein. They were only shown in a limited number of theaters, but the prints have found a permanent home on DVD.
The only bad note was seeing those two people opening the door at the beginning, looking so shamefully servile... but maybe that was part of the film ;-)
Rubinstein was probably the best in this Trio! What genius musicans thei all were.
And please read the funny thing about Jasha Heifetz, who wanted to be mentioned first. Although it was common to mention pianist, violinist and cellist in that time!
So finally Rubinstein finished the discussion by saying: "If even God would play the violin, it would be Rubinstein, God and Piatigorsky!" *rofl*
Ditto comment TransientWriting: the line up is rare! Thanks for uploading this.

How silly--but so much fun for us.
I wonder what happened to the rest of it?
Good thing they were consummate musicians--certainly not consummate actors!
