  • stfu and play

  • fuckin death clock at the end there i tell you hawhut like king of the hill yup yup yup yup

  • This is a very poor representation of what this amp can actually accomplish.

  • My band nicknamed my Genz Benz the "Gender Bender" lol

  • I've got this amp and it's awsome.. in this vid it sounds like crap ! If you got the chance to try this.. do it!! Sounds 10,000 times better on real! So, screw you guys who think's this amp sucks....

  • @ReidarTuv and its LOUD AS FUCK!

  • @ReidarTuv Meh. Bought one. Buying a DSL.

  • You sir, are the reason these amps don't sell well...

  • Rythem tone ok i guess; the lead was just terrible

  • As I said my comment on the other EL D clip...

I own 2 El Ds, 100 head and 60/30 combo. I can fully attest that El D is capable of some SEARING metal tones. If you notice the EQ/tube settings and the volume level, you can see why this clip doesn't do El D any justice @ all. The Mids are completely cut, that's -15db, the attack is engaged, the tube is turned all the way to the right... the volume is low on the channel as well. Opening El D up and not dropping the mids so much = \m/ JOY \m/

  • i dont think the tone was bad i think the player was i have heard through my esp h1001 81 - 85 emgs amd i play drop b b flat and drop a and a sharp and it doesnt sound bad a buddy of mine has one i want one bad its very good any it sounds amazing clean and if u have a good pedal board and get your distortion that way it sounds great i have an mxr full bore metal pedal mxr 10 band eq and boss looper and it sounds great but my buddys is on a a soldano cab so that could also be a dif but i want 1

  • Sounds like he has 2 distortion pedals on at the same time while a hot dog is connected in between them.

  • WTF,

You sure you weren't playing that guitar through an NES?

  • Rhythm tone wasn't so bad, but that lead tone was the worst I've ever heard.

  • he has the compressed channel on, I have this amp and I never use the compressed channel cause it doesnt sound good. I have no idea why he'd leave that on..otherwise it sounds good.

  • The funny thing is that's FRANK ARESTI of FATES WARNING. Why the HELL does it sound like that coming from HIM????

  • @JimmyKGuitar

you'd be surprised how many of your favourite players suck, people are made to sound a lot better on albums.

  • look how the dude has the mic placed tho, i own this head and its a amazing head.

ill put up some good videos of this amp in action, you can get great heavy tones out of this head.

  • id rather play a gig with a 10 watt than with this

  • @XB0XFR34K .. Check out my demo of this amp

  • Tone wasn't too good, but the peice was quite kool.

  • horrible tone

  • that isn't heavy metal tone, Heavy Metal tone is like Van Halen Dokken Motly Crue and stuff like that.

  • look what mine sounds like! Better tone that yours!

  • That didnt sound very good.....

  • genz benz amps are actually amazing, but all of their online demo videos for guitar amps are TERRIBLE. trust me, they sound 100000 times better in real life!

  • Can you or someone tell me what kind of cabinet that is? I need a cabinet to match the head I'm buying and I have no clue what to get lol

  • agreed. i tried one of these at my local music store, twice as good as any other amp their hands down. if you people dont believe this amp is good then go try it out for real. you will be surprised

  • you cannot play gig with that sound... and not recording... and this is a shitty "at home sound" too.... blurp blurp

  • Dude, seriously, re-eq your rig that sounds terrible and fake like some high school band. You can play well but that is not a "METAL" sound. Less dist (I know it sounds crazy) more mid range treble at 60% and bass between 50 and 70%.

  • @Albee213 That is Frank Aresti, from Fates Warning. I'm sure he knows how to dial an amp in...of course, you can only do so much with that amp.

  • @jbusbee87 .. Check out my demo of this amp

  • crap sound get a boogie

  • I like the "Genz Benz El Diablo 100" Sound .

  • Buy a Mesa if you want to get a tube amp

  • Mesa??I just got rid of my triple recto and JCM2000 to get my Blackstar series 1/200 and it so far has blown evrything else away as far as great tone and versatility goes. And Mesa was at the bottom of the list after VHT,Diezel,Soldono,Bolt,Diamond,I played them all and found The series 1's were just way more versatile and made my Mesa/Marshall sound like mudd especially the Recto.

  • Horrid tone. If he is a pro he should be better...

  • Wow! What a shitty lead tone!

  • i gotta learn that

  • Well I have the AMP and have lots of different Settings Recorded on my Page! CHECKOUT how I MAKE IT sound then Judge. But as for me Im not the Greatest guitarist but you can judge me too :P I have many Videos of this amp with different settings.

  • when he goes up high it sounds like that shitty music that used to come from games on my gameboy colour

    Sounds like ass

  • it does sound like gameboy... but i love gameboy haha

  • I can get better sounds of my line6 pod, and it doesn`t have tubes :D

  • what a sweet tone!

  • his solo sounded like Batio but slower

  • Thank God it was only 41 seconds.

  • @AxelFlyingV .. Check out my demo of this amp.

  • if that made someone like frank aresti sound that bad - not a great advert

  • That sux balls

  • frank aresti of fates warning. oop . sound too bad this time

  • guys look that amp is probably ALOT BRIGHTER its not as mudy as it sounds look at how the mic is placed its not at the end of the cone, these dudes dont know wtf there doing,...... i can tell this would be a great amp if properly MIKED

  • let me guess, you own the amp? the mic does not have to be mic'd at the end of the cone you retard. the amp sounds like muddy shit.

  • The amp looks kickass but that tone is not. Im sure you could make it sound better, though.

  • I own this amp, and it kicks ass, I don't care what everyone thinks, the amp has active EQ controls, you can't just sit there for 5 to 10 minutes playing around with it and say it sounds like shit, little adjustments go a long way.....its the most versatile amp out there.... Idiots

  • sweet...

  • 0:30 sounds like a gameboy! Crappy sound!

  • @DarkVelizar .. check out my demo of this amp!

  • ok this would be good for rhythm guitarists. Lead guitarists... not so sure. but still, awesome rhythm sound.

  • it just doesn't have enough high end, and theres just something else missing....

  • Shrill, thin and fizzy. Terrible tone imo.

  • lead sound sucks..

  • The Rythm sounds fat, means, and has good attack and relese. But, the lead from

the higher notes sounds thin and shitty.

  • how muddy....

  • I would trade my Fireball instantly for this one :S

  • I hate the way it sounds when he gets into the higher notes. Wouldnt buy it.

  • i don't like the sound..

  • you have terrible posture

  • wat guitar is that

  • it is called a expoler

  • its an explorer i know that but it aint a gibson so i wanted to know watb make it is

  • It's a Hamer.

  • thanx

  • Worst solo ever played by a Greek National.

  • The high end sounds like a video game

  • true... i was thinking of mario bros or some like....

  • One of the worst amps I ever owned.

  • how loud is it at 100& volume

  • yeah nah thats shit

  • I want to shoot some high quality videos like this .. what kind of camera would you say he is using

  • sounds like 150 fuzz-faces in parallel.

    wtf? too much fuzz

  • sounds like a fucking video game theme song hahaha

  • his guitar is pretty cool ive always fancied myself a explorer

  • The rhythm sound was about a 5 on a 1 to 10 scale. The lead sound was about a 2.

  • Fuckin' horrible tone

  • fizzy shit

  • probably these people have no idea of decent tone..oh tell me generic answer.marshall?

  • so generic automatically means it's not true?

I think the marshall 68' plexi has one of the best tones an amp can have

so please, leave you stupidness to yourself

  • yeah except most marshalls suck except for a few of the older models that don't have diode clipping like the Plexi. Also those '68s were not consistently made they varied alot in tone. Also EVH was one of the few people who got a metal tone out of those amps. He had to heavily mod it. I would say the 5150 iterations are better at a plexi high gain sounds than a plexi, especially the 5150III. Also Laney Kilpp amps of the same generation were better and had far better distorted staturation IMO.

  • EVH didn't modify his plexi, he experimented with different speakers, pedals, load boxes but his plexi stayed stock (go look it up)

the marshall jcm 800 has been the bases of coutless awsome metal tones, and plenty of artists have gotten good metal tone from a plexi (randy rhoads, mettalica)

    And i don't really like the 5150

  • EVH did modify his plexi He had numerous people like Reinhold bogner do it. In fact bogner mentions it on his website. The JCM 800 is ok, but you really have to push it with a tube screamer like megadeth did to give it any shimmer at all. Frankly there are some amps out there now which blow all of that stuff away like Framus, Laney, Mesa, Diezel, Engl, Madison, and Randall. Oh yeah and metallica mostly used 'shalls in conjunction with mesa and diezel. live in the now man marshalls are old hat.

  • Or stop being a bigot and let people choose what they want to use?

Honestly, you saying that you need to throw an OD in front of an 800 to get a good tone leads me to believe that you haven't played one, or you played a dud. 800s sound fine on their own and if you knew a thing or two about Marshalls, you'd know that the diode clipping was only extensively used on later 800, 900, and 2000 amps.

Some of the best Marshalls had diodes in the Preamp. Ever played a Silver Jubilee or a 6100?

  • yeah some marshalls are pretty good. especially modded. I have an 800 2205 that kills with a ts9 hooked to it.

  • The jubilee, Plexi, JCM800 were good for their day. But Here is the thing, there are amps out there now that blow Marshall away for the same or less money. It is just that they don't have the history and marketing hype that Marshall does. Also diode clipping is different than using diodes in the circuit. You can use diode rectification that is Ok, However it is when you diode clip the incoming AC waveform that you get bad tone. I really don't think power amp distortion is good for metal. IMO

  • lol, marshalls are still great amps and no most of those amps dont blow them away. laneys are very similar to marshalls, and were created around the same time, engls just suck, and randall?? comon, there tube amps simulate marshalls.

  • I would agree that perhaps the Marshall jubilee sounds sort of like Laneys, but I Own and laney and have played several Marshalls, I can never get a good tone on almost any Marshall out there they are just too rolled off on the high end and not saturated enough to be satisfying, their tone is for the most part disjointed, ENGLs Rock I have played a Powerball, Fireball, and 50 watt combo and they rule. Marshalls just don't have much inner detail or harmonic complexity except for a few models.

  • haha i guess your one of those high end lovers, which is just personal prefferance i guess, i like little top end and more bottom, which to each his own. and for engls there built horribly you can ask any amp moder, every amp moder ive talked to have said there built like shit. but i guess if you like high end then marshall wouldnt be the amp for you.

  • Yeah the other guitar guy in a band I used to play in ordered an Engl from germany (I live in sweden), and after a week and a few days the output tubes burned. Laney on the other hand rocks. I've got the vh100r, a solidly built fucking rock'n'roll monster

  • for sure laneys rocks, id take one over an engl in a second.

  • suck.

  • hard to say if there is too much gain or not enought...horrible sounding amp

  • Checkout how Mine sounds..

  • dude, here do u have them demos? pm me

  • doesnt sound like it has much sustain

  • Worst tone Ever ...

  • @CryingLostSoul

    ur a faggot

  • if you add a tubescreamer in front of it will it have a smooth lead sound? and for the people that have it... can you give me the eq settings for a smooth lead sound..

  • that solo, sucked.

    and that sounded very SS

    (solid state, not luftwaffe)

  • not luftwaffe....rofl

    Thats comedy

  • Hahaha, gold :D

  • Rhythm sounds pretty good, the lead tone sounded really wierd. Almost like an octaver or something was running with it.

  • That sound is great as a rhythm crunch but sucks for solos. Most serious guitarists know that you cannot use the same settings for both anyway. The rhythm sound should be fat, crunchy, compressed, and all tube. The lead sound should be edgy with crisp atack and nice sustain. God has spoken.

  • pretty compressed

  • must say, i own this amp and it sounds great, but then again tone is all in the ear of the beholder, and i dont personally like the sound he has, but i like mine, wierd but yea:D

    peace

  • SOunds like solid.

  • I don't think that lead sound is 4 serious..

  • hmmmm very grainy...

  • sounds like a solid state.

  • Yeah...not impressive enough tone for something that probably cost over 1500 US dollars. Maybe they used a bad microphone to record it though. Aesthetically nice looking head and cab.

  • I am not impressed at all with this amp.

  • has someone realized that when the guy plays he goes falling from the chair and he does it again?

well i guess we all have something when we play guitar like my friend, when he plays guitar, his nose gets bigger, really,it does!!

  • rubbish

  • that lead sounds absolutely awful.

  • kinda buzzy aye?

might just be the digital process afterwards...

  • the lead tone sounds like fart.. nice rythm though

  • piece of shit.

  • This amp is nothing compared to the Engl metal amps!

  • nah dude my gb eats brits daily

  • anyone any idea about the price

  • i think it's close to 1500$

  • I really like the rhythm tone, but really hate the lead tone.

    Maybe with some effects?

  • i was playing on this amp, and i must say, this amp is fuckin brutal, more heavy & more pushing, than mesa, but on this video it does not sound good, especialy for lead tone..

  • crappy amp

  • I agree!!! Horrible sound!

  • Wow that tone is fucking awesome.

Anybody know where i could get one???

  • I have a genz benz el diablo 100W and it sounds good... when you know how to set it up. I tried it with several guitars and it drastically change the sound. The only problem with this amp is that you need a new set up for each of your guitars... but when you've found your setting, it will sound probably better than a mesa or a 5150. so be patient and try several setting. you'll find yours ;)

  • is that a peavey rotor? (the guitar)?

  • Mark IV is waaaay batter

  • lol y is he wearing a addidas shirt?

  • maybe he plays sports

  • ...why shouldn't he?

  • Sounds like fuckin' super mario brothers

  • The reason why I asked that question is because a friend recommended this amp to me, telling me that it's pretty versatile for a metal-oriented amp.

  • Guys I have a question (for those who have actually used this amp for some time): can this get fluid, mid-gainy lead tones? Think Santana's tone with a li'l more gain and treble. Can I achieve that kinda tone with this amp?

  • oh yea... the 5150 for sure. thanks for the deciding factor lol.

  • This is a very versatile professional quality head. I think this demo stinks as it doesn't demonstrate the true tone this thing can produce specially for metal. I have owned the 6505 as well as dual rec's and they cannot boast blowing this thing away by no means. Only problem with this amp is with the active circuitry, dialing in the target tones can take hours, even days, but in the end it is just as rewarding as any other totally overpriced "popular" amp head.

  • On my opinion this sound is shit! my line 6 flextone is much better!

  • I hate to agree with you but I'm not impressed by it either. The rhythm sections are decent but the lead there sounded thin and souless.

  • totally agree with you.....my line 6 spider III combo sounds better than this....and the 6505+ sounds way better then this piece of shit....there is no comparison.

  • very tight

  • THAT'S FRANK ARESTI

    you guy are so stupid!!!!

  • what is wrong with you people? i thing this amp has a GREAT tone. This video actually makes me want to go out and buy one!

  • Most people see these reviews from this guy and take it as the be all and end all of this amps settings. To be honest, this guy has no idea how to EQ the amp, he makes it sound much worse than what it is.

Look around at the other el diabo videos. Theres some REALLY good EVH tones from one guy.

  • what a shit tone

    6505+'s kill these

  • that head is fucken huge!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the lead kinda sounded like a muted keyboard effect on the high end and not an old fashioned tube tone.

  • sounds like a fuzz pedal. I've read those g-flex cabs are awesome just not that El Diablo head.

  • i dont know what everyone is complaining about, this amp is very versatile, and if you have ever played one in person you know this thing has a HEAVY sound, and a great clean

  • ugh. i dosent hope its a tube amp, couse it dosent sound like one.. didnt like it

  • i get a better sound out of my $200 DigiTech RP50 lol nice amp though.... check out my vids and see what you can do for little cash outlay.

  • gross!

  • That tone was horrible!

  • i have the 100

seriously it took me so long to find a good sound. it's really sensitive but its tight

  • Dont like Diezel and dont like Genz benz. Blanket over the cabinet tone. MUD!. Want a great amp? Rivera Fandango!

  • dude the lead tone sucked there was no gain on it

  • this thing isnt what much guitar players are looking for, it has a more hardcore kind of sound, much to noisie, its just precisly like a spider 2 insane green, nobody wants to use that stupid thing, but spider 2 sucks, i think personally this thing sucks even more!

  • AHHH scoop FTL!!!

  • eghh...i don't like it. anyone who's willing to spend that amount of money on a tube head should DEFINITELY check out the peavey JSX.

  • fuck both of those...ENGL

  • they're nice too

  • the JSX is three times as expensive as the genz benz...

  • Genz Benz El Diablo 100W Head - $1,379.99

Peavey JSX Joe Satriani Signature Head - $1,349.99
