Good idea and well executed. I wonder how actors like Murray Hamilton really feel about playing characters who are a**holes, especially in a big budget, high profile film.
It would have been awesome and very fitting if the shark killed the mayor slowly and painfully, like, You didn't let Brody close the beaches, Alex Kintner and that unnamed guy in the pond are dead because of you, Michael Brody went into shock and is in the hospital, you care about your money more than other people's lives, and everything that happened here from the first attack on was your fault, so now you're paying for it.
Mrs Kitner should've slapped the mayor instead of Brody.

At the end, "Go in the water", here's what i would have said to Vaughn:
1) "You go in the water, Larry, you bastard!"
2) "Sure, Larry, I'll volunteer as shark bait. Just let me rub a fish on myself and pour some gravy on my head so I'll taste better!"
3) "Okay, I'll swim a little. How about you go swim in the POND?"
