  • Wow....Crosby has the most beautiful voice.

The two of them together were magic.

  • Goosebumps all over. This has to be one of the best duo performances in the history of music. I wish they made a record out of that concert.

  • Is Denny seiwell the drumer of wings, at 0:01s ?

  • so soothing, you could near a pin drop

  • OK, allright already. He was stoned. DID IT MATTER ??

  • @gaspo2180 YEA IT MATTERD.........It wouldnt have been half as good if he had been straight! Mind altering substences are the rought all grate creativity :-D

  • @cancarum :}-~

  • absolutely amazing, such great talents and perfectly matched. It doesn't get any better than this

  • Graham was such a good friend to David ... he was very lucky to have him. And I wish I could do straight sober half of what David could do stoned.

  • This is beautiful enough. It's perfection.

  • デヴィッド・クロスビーとグラハム・ナッシュ~素晴らしい名曲"リー・ショウ"~研ぎ澄まされた、みずみずしい二人のハーモニー~唸る!

  • that look at 2:20 Crosby makes staring on when he says sunrise. Truly a moment when an artist is lost and captivated by his own music.

  • Crosby & Nash = Heaven on Earth!

  • I KNOW, I LIKE IT!!

  • People have a tendency to mark Dylan as the iconic american singer/songwriter but as good as he is (was) to me David will always be the greatest of his generation if not greatest ever. He embodies the soul and spirit of his time, creative and catchy with the voice of an angel. His songs are like reading an epic novel in 3:50 .

The pairing of Crosby and Nash was as perfect as Lennon and McCartney. Just meant to be.

  • This performance is like buttah! Absolutely excellent!

  • Different from the way it's sang on my CD

  • 4 people don't know shit about music..

  • @LinneavV 4 people think today's garbage is music.

  • David Crosby has a beautiful voice, but there's so many times I've wanted to punch him square in the face for being such a pompus asshole.

  • @RighteousBigot4u Then you obviously 'don't get it'. And are therefore unworthy.

  • "sometimes" you never get bored with this song.. it's like eternal love if there is some, I imagine.

  • Hilarious how Crosby is (gently) making fun of Nash.

  • Those dudes got so much pussy.

  • I completely understood Nash at the beginning. It was about musicians being on the same 'wavelength', for lack of a better term, when attempting to play music together.

  • David rushes through this song...for whatever reason he wasn't feeling it until the end I think...

  • @mpeters220 Sorry but that is complete garbage. This is the best ever version

  • @gtinebike Check the version from 4-way street. I prefer that anyday over this one.

  • Also it is more likely that any particular claim you make will be accepted when you don't use absolutes like 'complete garbage' and 'best ever version.'

  • Tune into HDNet May 22nd 7:30pmET to watch Crosby-Nash: In Concert, Broadcast LIVE from the Palace Theatre in Stamford, Connecticut

  • With just the two of them...you can appreciate their voices more, especially David's....when the three are together it seems to mask the greatness.

  • magic!!!

  • all my neighbors in my dorm listen to CSN quite often, whether they like it or not :)

  • "Wheel, gull...spin and glide....you've got no place to hide....cuz you don't need one...."

Gawd, those poignant words, sung as David sings them, lifts me up and brings tears to my eyes all at the same time....the beauty of it, the tones, the haunting melody, the precise phrasing....combined with the overall sunject of freedom, fill my soul.

Thank you David, Graham, BBC and zepplinfloyd196 for posting this.

  • Nash tries to go for the real high note at 4:11...just can't quite get it out....but it would have been a beautiful addition to a wondorous song. Gawd, I love this!

  • If you believe in the CIRCLE OF LIFE, we sure are OVERDUE for the next Crosby & Nash. It's been 40+ years, right ?? I'm getting closer to 60, so I hope I see it sometime SOON !!

  • Crosbys on some good acid

  • @flowerdoodle Nash is on it too he's just not showing it as much. Why would 1 do it and not the other?

  • @mpeters220 hah, you're probably right. Check out Nash's face when they do GUINEVERE. He's really feeling it.

  • @flowerdoodle Totally! Even just in the beginning of this video when he's talking it was a little incoherent but I understood it. Notice how abstract his thoughts are right there, and David kinda picks up on that and ribs him for it. This must have been a total blast for these two.

  • Beautiful, just beautiful, ....magic indeed.

  • PRETTY!

  • Timeless, as a walk along the endless edges of the islands. . .

  • I was at this recording at the BBC centre...it was a magical evening...Crosby was more than a little stoned....warm memories

  • @captainsoul1953 in a completely positive way, i am so envious, i would have loved to be there. had i been at neil young's '(71?) bbc session i'd have probably died...

  • @captainsoul1953 i wish i was there, I consider you a lucky person! How did you manage to attend?

  • Being a great lover of music there are many, many songs that compete for a place on my top 20 list of all time favorite songs-this song however always remains on that list. Mesmerizing.

  • Saw the bio of Mama Cass several weekg ago.

It was she who put Crosby and Nash together.

Nash thanks her on every album for his career.

Besides being a great singer, she was a visionary.

  • So beautiful...I remember this fondly...and it still moves me after all these years

  • yo im on muahroomas right now :))):)

  • i am probebley one of the younger guy's who react ,,,,,, but what's the name of this song ,, ???

and ,, will never hear a band like this again,,, not these kind of vocals ,,,, its al,,, diferend ,,

  • @ion9090 @ ion9090 youre stupid !!!! the track name is above the screen !!!

  • @ion9090 yea youre right i am stupid ,,,, thanks for notice !!

  • @ion9090 youre welcome ,,,,,

  • Crosby said he used to go to sea to dry out and clean up... it's why many sailors went out in the old days . It takes a pretty big person to brave the ocean in a small boat. Granted that Mayan (Crosby's schooner), was designed and built by John Alden, who knew a thing or two about boat deisgn. But you never know what you're gonna run into out there. Thank you for posting this, it 's always been one of my favorites.

  • This song brings you to another place.

  • A nice song for a Saturday Morning. (My favorite David Crosby Song)

  • Sooo lange gesucht, endlich gefunden!

I´ve been searching for this song for such a long time... found at least ;-)

  • I saw David at Maryland Univ back in 70 something...poor memory of the event beyond walking out...with many others, because he was so loaded he couldn't play. This [video] though is shows the remarkable talent we all came to admire and enjoy. Thank you.

  • Wheel gull spin and glide ... you've got no place to hide

    'Cause you don't need one

    All along the Lee shore

Shells lie scattered in the sand

Winking up like shining eyes, at me

    From the sea

Such perfect harmonies and such sublime lyrics .........

  • I was raised with this stuff playing in my house all the time. My sister got me into it and then I got my 1st guitar. The rest was history. I'll never let this music go.

  • listen to me

  • my god, these vocals are sublime, no comparison. and the moody guitar accompaniment fits perfectly. i'm afraid that my generation is at a loss for talent like this.

  • You often see pure amazement on their faces in these videos at the soudn that THEY are making together! They amaze themselves and take JOY in it...it's a beautiful thing!

  • this is a thing of beauty, art. nothing more, nothing less. fills the heart.

  • Music of paradise.

  • GENIUS!

  • Martin D45 + freebase cocaine

  • Grace Slick? Wow. Damnit! Goddess then, Goddess still.

  • The ultimate campfire!

  • David & Graham...shut up and sing

  • I have lived the last 23 years on a little island in the Atlantic. This song brings me home and anchors me in the spirit of our little island. Thanks David,,, and Graham

  • One of Crosby 's best ever !

  • Wheel gull spin and glide -- you've no place to hide Cause you don't need one All along the lee shore shells lie scattered in the sand Winking up like shining eyes - at me, from the sea Here is one like sunrise older than you know It's still lying there where some careless wave Forgot it long ago When I woke this morning Dove beneath my floating home Down below my graceful side In the turning tide To watch the sea fish roam
  • Somebody could help me?

How can I have all Crosby & Nash shown on BBC?

    Thanks ...

  • beautiful, amazing, emotional, euphoric...well words don't suffice, we are just kidding ourselves! Make music.

  • I'm beginning to see why they broke up. Croz is talented, but what a sarcastic SOB. No wonder Stills wanted to punch his lights out.

  • What a great song and story. David Crosby...just mind blowing vocals that always amaze me.

  • What I never get is this: They act like they are higher than a kite before they perform, and then when they perform there is no way they are high.

  • @StanBennet Yes! Although I think Crosby is the one floating here.

Nash was trying to express the conflict between being prepared and a certain amount of creative spontaneity. Crosby heckled him for it, and then hit the

first note. I think this is what results from total immersion in the music and

    lots of stage exposure.

  • @StanBennet

Believe it. Practice makes perfect. How do you think any other great act managed it? Hendrix for example. Just bluffing being high? I don't think so.

  • I love this song!!! and how fucking funny is David, what a tripper...

  • Nash from Manchester, England became US citizen in 1978; primarily

due to his working relationships with Crosby, Stills and Young.

  • what guitars would they have been using here? Are they Martins?

  • @BuonoBruttoCattivo77

martin D28 i think, martins for sure

  • @BuonoBruttoCattivo77 Yes both Martin accoustics.

  • I always wonder how two voices can sound as amazing as that. After all these years of singing together they still capture the miracle of music.

  • I used to lay awake at night with some good incense, one lit candle and my copy of 4 Way Street. This song was always one of the best.

  • I hear yeah on that one except for me you can replace incense with herb and candle with spliff. :-P

  • These songs, the way they are sung, the harmonies, the words and guitar playing..it's like listening to something akin to porcelain singing, so fine and delicate and perfectly crafted you are almost scared to breathe for fear of breaking a most beautiful thing. Davids voice is beyond belief at times and Grahams soars and dips to the point where you wonder how he does it.

    I think I like it.

  • fleet foxes rock, the only decent band now among the amount of crap that is done now

  • @duginske

vetiver, espers, midlake, alela diane, joanna newsom.

all of those are better than fleet foxes. :p

  • An impossibly lovely song. For all his foibles, David Crosby is one hell of a songwriter and singer, and this is him at his very best. Nash is no slouch either. Thanks for posting this!

  • David was absolutely beautiful and healthy, Graham as sweet as ever. Their voices are so sweet and beautiful as well. I wish we could all have those days back. Maybe we would be a little kinder to our bodies to prepare for old age. Thank you CSN&Y for making such beautiful music.

  • David Crosby - you have the most beautiful, sensitive voice ever and this is the most beautiful song ever.

  • Music direct from heaven - sooo wonderful.

  • this is one of the most beautiful songs ever written

  • CROSBY IS IN SPACE !!!!!! look at his eyes.... i'm guessing speed.... lots of speeeeed

  • You know it does look like Clapton

  • Is that Clapton sitting in the front row on the right at the beginning of the video?

  • After all these years this still remains one of my forever favorite songs. Mesmerising harmonies. Crosby's voice enthralls and enchants and takes you to the place mapped out by the beautifully poetic lyrics. I had the 4 Way Street album version of this when I was in my very early teens and I wore the grooves of the record....

    "From here to Venezuela

    There's nothing more to see

    Than a hundred thousand islands

flung like some jewels upon the sea

    For you and me"

  • This is your captain spooking.

  • Wow it paints such a picture. Beautiful

  • Pure accoustics; pure harmony; and pure beauty. It gets no better than this. One of my all-time favorites.

  • Amen, brother.

  • beautiful!

  • So beautiful, incredibly moving.

  • INCREDIBLE

  • David Crosby & Graham Nash at their finest!! This song is captivating and elegant. A long time favorite of mine. David Crosby has a style of writing that is unmatched by most. I would have loved to see a collaboration between David Crosby & Tim Buckley. That would have been interesting. I wonder if they were friends?

  • a band doing great things for this type of sound is Fleet Foxes

    check them out

  • @tesorogarcia -- thank you for the tip on fleet foxes I never heard of them but they are great.

  • Fleet foxes are fantastic, my fav current band. I listened to their album non stop all last year, they are great live aswell. Bringing back the folk harmonies, they're huge right now I'm so glad people still have good taste.

  • Crosby looks really stoned.

  • Better sound than on the 4 way Street album......

  • awesome song

  • Ahhhhhhhhhh this is amazing. Why cant there be anything like this today?!

  • You dont know anything. Do you hear him?

  • then...don't watch this...

  • just realized nash aint playing a thing XD keeping in rythm though

  • Who says drugs are bad?

  • I do .. they wear off!

  • Ahhh, this sounded so gooood among the Redwoods by the lake. At least half the people at the campground wanted to hear it again and again...

Wooden music as Levi calls it. 'Perfect' does just fine for me.

Thank you David, for sharing some wondrous facets of your Soul

I hope Heaven is filled with these sounds

  • Hell, all you needed was these two!

  • awesome, great artists !

  • I wrote a letter to Graham about a month ago, and got my reply this weekend--he's just as nice a guy as he seems; he sent me a ton of stuff!

Fantastic performance. I can only wish I'd been there, but it's twenty-four years before I was even here...

  • What address did you use to write to Graham?

  • Some PO box--but the first line of his reply letter was that the address was incorrect.

  • I am simply amazed at how great these two sound! I cannot believe this is live, it sounds like a recording!

I love CSN. I cannot say enough about how their first album changed my life...and a little more everytime I hear a song like this.

  • @abmiller444 the good artists always sound better live. generally because the write them with the intention of playing them live. no studio required.

  • @abmiller444 The really good acts always sound better live than recorded.

Crosby had the voice of an angel, and the vocal teamwork between him and

Nash is first rate, both instinctive and practiced.

  • After I die, I would like to come back an ancient explorer of new worlds. Freedom.

  • Thanks for putting this up.I let my teenage sons listen and made two new fans. This just gets better with time.

  • 4:40-5:15

  • This performance is captivating, so captivating I feel a powerful lust to break my own neck.

  • David is my God

  • Graham is a barefoot archangel at least! Gotta love them both so much for all the music and good vibes.

  • I love the rapport between these two =) Just watched this on the telly a few hours ago. I wasn't expecting to see the whole performance again on youtube; thanks so much for uploading!

  • Awesome performance, but Crosby seemed a little unkind toward Nash. Yea, Nash was rambling a bit with his observations, but Crosby could have used a little tact, especially in front of the audience.

  • i see what you mean, but to me, it just reminds me of best friends. so comfortable with each other they dont have to be curtious to one another, they can be who they are, because they know each other all to well.

But yeah i guess Crosby is alittle unkind, alpha male in its smallest form.

    Nash has alot cooth

  • The vibe that this show always gave me is that Crosby is in love with Nash, not in a "gay" way though! The looks he gives him are just looks of love and adoration, like he's his soul mate or something. Or maybe it's just the weed!!! And musically they were pretty much soul mates. Just breathtaking!

  • Makes me think, when they're singing the song, maybe Crosby felt like he was once an explorer and Nash was his best friend exploring the world with him. That's basically what they are. When two people share music like that, they might as well be one person, full of music and joy. I think Crosby felt that. Amazing.

  • When you're a musician and pulling off something that's that beautiful, you are looking at the other person because of the music, which has taken on a life of it's own. And you find yourself part of it and it's a "high" in itself. Even without the "weed" or whatever, making beautiful music with people you are very connected to is the greatest natural high there is, and a gift from God.

  • @Zackiesmomma

No one could have expressed that any better than you just did. I've been high plenty...but I've also made music with other people, playing instruments and singing, and nothing is more uplifting, exactly the way you described.

    Your words made my day.

Peace and Love to you, friend.

  • Comment removed

  • @Zackiesmomma shut up u idiot

  • @Zackiesmomma wow you sure are pretentious. crosby is off his tits on drugs not music, but so what, hes making amazing music.

  • @Zackiesmomma god had nothing to do with it!

  • Especially Crosby's voice is just natural...beautiful....

  • I think this just became my favorite song

  • Such fantastic harmonies in these songs

  • Crosby has the voice of an angel: crisp, clear. resonant, soulful, and to this day nearly as perfect as in his prime. Love these old videos. Thanks for posting.

  • Crosby didnt like parting with money for clothes,,,he wore that green cape in the Byrds and this buckskin jacket for quite some time with CSNY...a petty point i know...i love his songs

    Jim

  • Aaaaahhhhhh.......thank u

  • I was at this concert...our youth club got some free tickets from the BBC and we went to BBC centre in our minibus...i can see a couple of us in the audience

    Happy daze

    Jim

  • How great and lucky for you Jim! What a memory..and it's on YouTube too!!! lol!

  • damn!

    i'm WELL jealous!!!!!!

  • Michael Jackson may well have been a genius, and I'm not denying that, but where does it leave David Crosby? This surely deserves at least ten minutes silence in Congress.

  • It's a fantastic song, great performance. Crosby's looking "healthy". Better days...

  • damn this is breathe taking. so raw.

  • Just beautiful- timeless.

  • Someone here said Crosby was the weakest songwriter of CSNY: don't agree. Partial listing: Deja Vu, Wooden Ships, Lee Shore, Traction in the Rain, Laughing, Guinevere, Delta, Carry Me.

    There's more.

  • Why bother replying to assholes? Crosby is a genius and should be rated thus just for this, but as you say, he did so much more.

  • Delta is a great sweet tune.

  • Ok....I take back all my crap about Crosby........this song on 4-way street used to really do me in.....back in the day.

  • Those guys always rambled on between songs.Remember 4 way street."Don't ever play mumbly peg with him, he'll steal your leg". I'm sure they were high most of the time, doesn't really matter, let them ramble, they sound awesome.

Someone finally mentioned Nash's voice breaking in the middle. Hey' it's live. They still pulled this off in a big way!

  • Get real. If anyone thinks for a moment that these guys weren't stoned beyond belief then you are out of touch. Just listen to the rubbish preamble. Despite that, this is without doubt one of the greatest pieces of music left to us from the seventies.Crosby's voice is at its most awesome, and Nash is backing like a trooper. One of the all-time greats. And the rest of the BBC series represents one of the greatest live sets ever.
