  • very good all he said, it's all about Jesus! but i thought it was wrong for the guy to be smoking and then cursing, not to be judgmental or anything, but it just gives his church a bad image,,,

  • @mhcseattle --you mean the book of Philippians? You wrote "Philippines" in the description...

    :)

  • I was once a pothead and I never saw a problem with it insofar as GOD is concerned, and to a point I still don’t. However, there was once when I was out and I found myself desperately inspecting trays and hiding places for any little specks of weed I could find, and also working very hard to scrape my pipe to claim the resin. Then it dawned on me…Have I ever been so desperate for Jesus that I spend so much time and effort looking for a mere scrap of scripture? Therein lays any problem with pot

  • @nicodemous52

    Good point.

  • Is it me, or did that look like a Mury intro promo???

  • Being respectful of peoples differences is the most important thing? So it's not loving people?

  • haha this is awesome make christians look bad i guess thats the goal in the end ey

  • @Taurion4467 Well yeah.

  • i can't imagine how God would be O.K. with smoking. our bodies are supposed to be temples of the Lord. how can this jive with addiction, how smoking harms your body, harms those around you...how can God be o.k. with smoking?

  • That young woman has a huge case of bipolar disorder.....x.x

  • But she is peaching the truth. (Biblical Turth)

How can we say anything about it?

  • @theshakter Indeed, but shes going the wrong way about it walkin up to others tellin them theyre going to hell, that theyre doing this, this and that wrong isn't the best way of preaching specially with her town of voice. Others will see u as a Judgmental person that thinks their better then everyone else. The proper way would be to speak with calm and kindness, saying plz come, come unto Christ repent of thy sins and iniquitys and be saved. sharing personal experience with sins would also help.

  • @theshakter

She's not preaching the truth bro, think about the things she said. Yeah, it's wrong to have sex before marriage, etc. but she stated anyone who does it is going to hell, which is absolutely false.

  • Faith rocks, religion sucks.

  • @H0tkebab There's a difference between believing in Christ and having Faith in Christ. Believing in Christ is acknowledgin he was a real person & that he might of done those things for us, nothing more. Havin Faith in Christ is a lot more then believing in him but actually applyin those principals he taught into our lives, faith is in action word, we are meant to do good works and be good all around soul, body and mind. The house of God is a house of order having a religion bring forth that order

  • @RyuzakiLRyuuga So how do you classify those who believe that Christ was just a teacher but recognize some of the merits in his teachings and apply the principals to their lives?

  • @NightHawkBomber001 Good works will not save you, nor applying those principals he taught. As it is said, no man can enter into The Kingdom of Heaven without first accepting Christ as they're redeemer. These ppl will have an opportunity to learn of the Gospel of Christ before the great judgment day and choose weather to except or deny it. Best thing is to do both do good works out of the goodness and kindness or your heart and having an unshaken faith in Christ.

  • The lady said it herself - "Who cares!"

  • By grace through faith of/in Christ we are saved.Like Paul said religion means nothing as it is made by man. There is nothing you can do that will save you, your works are filthy rags.Jesus is the only way,by his grace you are born again in spirit and saved, believe in that and have faith.

  • Mark didnt say smoking isnt bad, he jsut said that the bible does not specifically mention smoking. eating anything that is not fresh is destroying, too much sun, not enough, pills, mobile phones, computers, etc all destroy the temple.

  • we are the templo of the Holy Spirit ofcourse smoking is bad...we need to take care of it...and smoke will kill you some how....

  • tell them the good news about Jesus

  • it is a "Pharisee / Religious Spirit" and this girl fell into a ditch that we could easily get into... we must ask god -" of what spirit am i in?" -whe i did this, changed me- i was sad 4 a while about my blindness, and then changed churches! this is dangerous-harmful- makes many NEVER want god..:(

  • It feels so comforting having Christ in my life.

  • Disqualified!

  • Near the three and a half minute marker, Mark says that Paul says that religion is rubbish. Can anyone throw a bible verse at me about that one? I'm curious.

  • I agree with you. I like Mark Driscoll but Christians have redefined the word "religion" as empty ritual and belief, and works based salvation. This is neither the dictionary definition nor the Bible definition of religion. But I'd say nothing worth fighting over.

  • Philippians 3:7-9

  • Comment removed

  • phil 3:7-9 isn't about religion. it's talking about how Paul considers anything that has profited him to be rubbish compared to knowing Jesus. Jesus is his ultimate treasure, and everything is worthless compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Him.

here's a few about salvation through grace alone:

    Acts 15:11

    Ephesians 2:5,8

    Galatians 5

    Romans 3:24, 4:16

Galatians 5 is the biggy that says works/religion is rubbish in salvation. Salvation is in Jesus, and Jesus alone.

  • It is about religion. In the previous paragraph, Paul is listing all of his qualifications as a Jewish leader; all of the things he has done and accomplished as a religious person. He goes on to say that it is all rubbish. (or "shit", to be more accurate, from the Greek "skubala")

  • ah yes you're right there. my bad. don't know what i was thinking...

  • I think we need to understand what works and religion are and there place in our lives. James (2) is pretty clear that works comes after faith and salvation, but without works, faith is dead. Works don't save, but having and doing works is a sign that you are saved.

James is the only writer in the Bible that really tackles religion. (James 1:26-27) and he says that there is good and bad religion. Don't lump all religion together like Driscoll does, that's not Biblical. Jesus was religious.

  • mm..i dont think its good that he's smoking..and that he said somthing bad ..first of all..the bible doesnt say not to smoke..but smoking is addictive and you are not to be a slave of anything..and also you are not to let any corrupt word come from your mouth..please dude..watch yourself if your christian..or if your not repent..be like Jesus

  • "It's not torture, it's punishment"

    Eternal hell isn't torture?

    Whew!

    That's a relief!

  • "Dear Child, You are my offspring. Nothing will ever separate you from my love. I will always comfort you. Unless you don't believe me, in which case I will torture you for ever and ever in the torture chamber I made. You know I'll do it, too. I already tortured and mutilated and killed and abandoned my only REAL son. Trust me."
  • if i were to encounter the girl on the film i think i would have run from Christianity...

of all the things that the Lord has graciously protected me from before i trusted in Jesus....car wrecks, ied attacks, mortor attacks and shootouts. i am thankful that the Lord protected me from meeting this insane woman in this video....she needs Jesus

and i am most thankful that Jesus paid a high price to purchase me back from the dead

  • If not, the bloggers will help... HAHAHA

  • Right on bro!!!!!!

  • I was once like the girl on the film, Galatians addresses these issues. God saves is and transforms us we do not. Again Pastor Mark preaches the truth in love.

  • In fact, Jesus did give 'religious' commands to clean up their act (improve on their righteousness to the point of perfection) to those who thought they *were* righteous.

Speaking of religion Mark, what about suggesting women 'letting themselves go' causes their husbands to stray? 'Taking one for the team' you say? Like this is a universal problem? Suppose she is in shape but time takes its toll. I suppose she should spend some money on surgery to keep from 'letting herself go'?

  • usually its true if we point a finger at someone else, we have something wrong ourselves.

prayer is a constant deliverer from anything indeed and to use this daily is wisdom.

  • It's funny how anyone who dares question Mark's approach is automatically labeled 'self righteous and judgemental.' As we all know Mark can't possibly be mistaken.

btw alienmode atheism is a religion. All human beings esteem something higher than all others, whether it is self, or a transcendent deity.

  • Atheism is as much of a worldview (and a theological standpoint/statement) as Christianity or any other religion that believes in a deity or philosophically motivated strict moral codes, etc.

  • When will Mark grow?

    Urban fundamentalist at its best.

  • Good video. Interesting preacher.

  • test

  • Keep going Mark, thank God for an American

who is not trying to sell us this prosperity,

    success junk.

Australian TV is full of the "success"American preachers.

Wish you were on here Mark.Bless you.

  • smoking may not be lined out in the bible as sin, but surely using unclean language is...was the intern making a joke, looking like the rest of the world, or showing that the Spirit of Jesus inside him doesn't have the power to control his tongue...glad he's an intern and not a pastor at Mars Hill

  • Religion is rubbish...that's what Paul says. We don't need religion to get to God, to find God, to be known by God...that's grace. But obedience and holiness are not rubbish and we must look at the whole of scripture to understand that while I may be saved by grace, I am to strive to be holy through obedience...

  • aber88: I wish Driscoll had shown more of this because it's VERY possible that she either had sex outside of marriage before she was a a Christian or perhaps she was admitting to a transgression for which she's already repented. Either way, we don't really know about the circumstances or her salvation.

  • This is a great video, shame about the girl at the beginning. Hopefully she has since repented and believed in Jesus.

  • Or be like Jesus. Not more "Christian-like" "Being Christian. Why would anyone want to be Christian..."

  • It jsut sucks that the woman on Dr. Phil says that she is "christian"...

She is lying... I think that if she does not repent... she is going to hell.

Christians would not act like that...

It jsut makes me live my life more "Christian-like"
