Great videos, Vic. I'm enjoying the Marley tunes, of course, but I like your overall song selection. Nice variety. I'm primarily a rhythm player, and I always admire you guys who can make it cry and sing. What are you using for backing tracks? They sound good. -Baldhead Brad
@BaldHeadBrad I see you're a Marley admirer,it will remain great music. I got these tracks from a pupil on a CD and he bought them on several internet Sites, greets Vic.

@TACHTIN33 Well it's great to hear that. Still in my younger days I learned alot from him especially the Cream and "Derek and the Domino's recordings. I went on and mixed some more Jazz in my Blues playing,Vic.
@TACHTIN33 Thanks Chabo, yes I placed the humbucker in the Bridge position to get that extra nice bite. (getting the best of both worlds). Thanks for the compliment about my age,I don't feel old though I've been through many things in my life already. thanks for your true meant attention, much appreciated, Vic.

#35 - Most Discussed (This Week) - Music - Netherlands
Thanks Terry, yes Bob Marley wrote this tune. Saturday I'm off to Curacao,so I'll be gone for a little while, now and then I'll check my YT box. It's back to simple life for a while, must say I'm looking out to it,things get quite hectic here in Europe sometimes, then simplicity is the keyword to me. Hug Vic.
You manage to extract some amazing tone. Your solo is very melodic. Your improv has some good things to say. I hear a few melody lines that could be songs by themselves. I can tell that you are having fun with this.

@carvetop01 Thanks Allen, that means something, this chap ain't making "throw-away" Stuff, never been my goal, but sometimes hard in a "throw-away" world, never the less we have an educational mission, against shallowness, greets Vic.
Thanks Per,I'm going to Curacao on the 20th febr,so I'm taking a break for a little while, into the tropical sun away from this awful winter, greets Vic.
Thanks Ken, I love the Bluesy tone I'm getting here with just a little more gain, that Sans-amp Classic is a great little pre-amp and the compression (old analog mxr ) is doing it's job quite fine, greets Vic.
I really enjoy this tone. The duncans with the dual rectifier amp and compressor. The pall sander wood fretboard is something ive never heard of. It looks like ebony. Nonetheless is sweetness. Thx for displaying your talents again. Steve
Hi Steve, thanks, Pal sander is a (soft) brazilian wood that is quite often used for the top of guitar necks giving a more mellow sound than maple which is very hard wood. I choose for this combination because like the tone of this wood more. Duncans,in my case the single-coil alnico's and Seth lover (bridge) are good pick-ups. I don't use a dual rectifier but an analog (old) Sans-amp Classic, I like the tone of this preamp a lot,it doesn't have all those un-necessary gadgets, cheers Vic.
Interesting Vic. I was thinking the fretboard was hard like ebony. Crazy. I liked exploring your webpage. You are a very accomplished musician and person. Its nice to see someone living a life doing what they love with passion. Enjoy your return home Vic, memories will await you there, im sure of it. Take care Steve
Thanks Steve, for your kind words, glad you liked my WebSite with all I have to offer. More is coming like lessons and CD sales,my brother and I(the Web-designer) are thinking which form to present all, thanks for your best wishes for Curacao, Vic.
Thanks Coen, glad you liked it and bleus is spelled Blues(small mistake doesn't matter) :) till the next lesson, how is the Floyd piece getting along? Vic.
hi vic great playing like always, this song remembers me to my first stones concert in the 70ies when the song was played - i think - 20 times before the concert starts 5***********
Friedl, this goes way back man, I can imagine you can't hear that song anymore after that traumatic experience, lol,Vic. (anyway I did a nice fresh own impro that you didn't hear before).
Indeed Turkamine, the vocal part is taken over by my guitar but i try to give it a similar impact without words but with tone and feel, then I burn with an improvisation totally free,in a sense I'm treating it as a standard adding my colors,Vic.
Well William chew on those 2 lessons, there's a lot of Stuff in there, since the recording companies are out of business I'm enjoying myself here man, jamming myself to Heaven, groetjes Vic.
AxeLeK666, you're a very good player already, you surprised me with your playing. As you see I'm more of a Jazz-Blues player, I think tone and especially "Feeling" phrasing is so important, if you combine that with your technical abilities (you have already) you'll be a top-notch player even outplaying me technically, greets Vic.
jkilcull thanks I mainly use the pure-minor scale G A Bb C D Eb F mixed with the Blues-scale in G (G Bb C C# D F) but I also use some arpeggio's and melodic sequences in fifth's and fourths within the pure minor mode.cheers Vic.
yamanitanomura, thanks well Carlos has been a main influence on me especially his time and sound greatly related to the "Blues" it's never far, it's the sound of the Soul,Vic.
Hi Vic, what a nice version of the tune. You put some lovely ideas into it, and you`ve got never lost in soloing without coming back to the song´s tune. You know what I mean. After your two great teaching vids, this is really another great one!
Thanks Frank, that's something you mention there, I remember in my younger days I used to get lost sometimes, then the emotions of the Music where too strong and seemed on another level, returning to earth was difficult, since I've been playing Jazz a lot my feeling for "Form" has really increased and I'm not loosing the basic theme anymore, cheers Vic.
Thanks BiggyBobMr, undeniable true what you say, from the first notes since the "Blues-breakers" it stayed with me though I've mixed a little Jazz in here( 20%) Vic.
Thanks Matthijs, thought you might like this one, of course I know that version he's playing his balls of there man,I agree with you, very powerful Soulful Music, and that's what it's all about expression. Will soon check out your Vids,Vic.
Right on Ben, wide intervals that's the thing. I get my tone using a small old mxr compressor than the guitarsignal is routed through a SansAmp (analog) pre-amp on Messa Boogie setting with just enough presence (3/4) and Amp drive (1/2). cheers Vic.
A fav of mine too...nicely done sir

You can really pull things out then toss your own ingrediants in . . . . a little dash of this, sprinkle o that, great job again,Vic
turkamine 2 years ago
Indeed Turkamine, the vocal part is taken over by my guitar but i try to give it a similar impact without words but with tone and feel, then I burn with an improvisation totally free,in a sense I'm treating it as a standard adding my colors,Vic.

AxeleK666, jamming with responsibility that's the keyword here, letting the tone of the Soul out, that's where it's at,cheers Vic.

Thank U Sir. ;)

If u'll be so kind & If u will find some time ,please check out some of my vid.
Cause I should know what am doin wrong at the moment.
Gretings;)
AxeLeK666 2 years ago
AxeLeK666, you're a very good player already, you surprised me with your playing. As you see I'm more of a Jazz-Blues player, I think tone and especially "Feeling" phrasing is so important, if you combine that with your technical abilities (you have already) you'll be a top-notch player even outplaying me technically, greets Vic.

Nice interpretation!!
Any chance of getting a quick breakdown of modal ideas used over the chords?
jkilcull 2 years ago
jkilcull thanks I mainly use the pure-minor scale G A Bb C D Eb F mixed with the Blues-scale in G (G Bb C C# D F) but I also use some arpeggio's and melodic sequences in fifth's and fourths within the pure minor mode.cheers Vic.

great cover and really powerful sound, it reminds me Carlos Santana.
yamitanomura 2 years ago
yamanitanomura, thanks well Carlos has been a main influence on me especially his time and sound greatly related to the "Blues" it's never far, it's the sound of the Soul,Vic.

Hi Vic, what a nice version of the tune. You put some lovely ideas into it, and you`ve got never lost in soloing without coming back to the song´s tune. You know what I mean. After your two great teaching vids, this is really another great one!
See you, Frank 5*****
LONGWINDING 2 years ago
Thanks Frank, that's something you mention there, I remember in my younger days I used to get lost sometimes, then the emotions of the Music where too strong and seemed on another level, returning to earth was difficult, since I've been playing Jazz a lot my feeling for "Form" has really increased and I'm not loosing the basic theme anymore, cheers Vic.

I like the interval jumps. They add variety and interest to the solo. I'm curious about the kind of effect you use to achieve your tone.
- Ben
bdclassicalguitarist 2 years ago
Right on Ben, wide intervals that's the thing. I get my tone using a small old mxr compressor than the guitarsignal is routed through a SansAmp (analog) pre-amp on Messa Boogie setting with just enough presence (3/4) and Amp drive (1/2). cheers Vic.
