@seratt007 you have the answer, my friend...it was a matter of timing...stardom is highly overrated and I am so thankful for discovering her. Her new album comes out Feb. 10, 2010. My only advice would be to keep in touch with Sir Basil...if it weren't for him, I wouldn't have had the "Shapiro Spectrum," of Colour!

laverne 37 was very lucky to have seen helen in person in 1962. my parents were talking about moving to england in 1961, but we never did and since helen was not a hit in the u.s. i only knew her through the 'trad' film. one day last august i was googling the beatles and there she was singing 'look who it is' to them. i then googled her and the long wait over the years made everything much sweeter.
That's a nice clip with her singing to the Beatles. I heard Helen in a radio documentary recently recalling how in 1963 she was on tour in the UK ...supported by The Beatles. Only by the end of the tour had the Beatles gone supernova.
@seratt007 oh how I wish I could have met this iconic figure in 1963 when she was in Nashville... alas I was just a few hundred miles from her...without a driver's license and unable to cut class!
