this it the version i heard during my elementary days when every sunday the radio would play songs from yesteryears; back then(late 70's), my mother used to have a stereo as big as a furniture with the long playing albums that look like the size of flat plates with a needle to play it with. spanish really sounds romantic! and i like trios los panchos rendition coz' it's crunchier.
I remember Dancing to this type of Songs and music as a Young Girl in the 196O's ,Being taken to dances of Hungarians in SYDNEY Australia by My Parents being chaperoned and Adoring the Latin ,and Continental ones.Thank YOU for Playing them and giving me Lovely memories.!Best wishes.OziMarika/Maria

This music will always remind me of my father. I remember him fondly as he would listen to this type of music playing softly on a radio program in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas called Viva Mexico.
@yours2020 the words in english are not as lovely but the meaning is lost the spanish version is far more meaningful "Whenever I ask what, when, how and where you always answer Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps passing day And I, despairing And you, you answer Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps You are wasting time Thinking, thinking As more you want for how long? How long? And so the days go by I, despairing And you, you answer Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps"
@grtwhtnrth It is interesting that the lyrics in the language of the original version are often more meaningful, especially so in very different languages like japanese, chinese and others. But I think the difference is only felt by people who are bilingual and has a background on both cultures.
thanks for the upload. My grandparents used to dance to this all the time in their living room. My grandpa used to sing it to her. They fell in love to this song. My grandpa fell into a coma before he died, my grandmother was sick too unfortuneatly and when my grandma passed so did he.
@killerrey What a beautiful story! I hope someday to fall in love like your granparents and mine did, you know with this song in the background as a soundtrack of life!........ It is indeed a love song... i wonder.... Do you understand the meaning of the song and lyrics?
@Pretoriuss oh yes, in Altamirano Guerrero the boys would wait infront of the girls' houses to see the girls when they came out. He waited infront of my grandmas house with a group of other boys and they were all beaten by my great grandmother's broom. Chased away everday. Eventually the other boys gave up but my grandpa Rositas never stopped coming back. The only problem is when he was the only boy waiting, my grandmother didn't want him. A soundtrack indeed!
@joelt2105 edward "perhaps" is indeed a more harmonic option for its translation . if you carefully think about it both words are semantically equal so they are synonyms... "a lo mejor" is just a constructed expresion of possibility wich normally wouldn't be used in a poetic or romantic register!
@rainbowmuppet Well the same thing hapens with english songs and foreing speakers repeating them all the time :) But as a like to see, songs have a endless potential!
for me this is a beautiful reminder of childhood, i may be 15 but my parents would play it all the time

@Pretoriuss it means: whenever I ask you wherever and whenever you always answer me "maybe, maybe, maybe"
edwardfannumber1 5 months ago
@edwardfannumber1 actually it's Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps. where maybe would be a la mejor vs quizas being perhaps.

this song is forever ruined for me because our spanish teacher is making us memorize it and recite/sing to him.
