this is fire.....makes me wanna hit the town with some friends and live it up....went on itunes and got this immediately when i heard this, i bought the album.
Underground hiphop tracks like this sound good because of the background sample of 1980's disco funk that had a strong bass pattern, and the only other music that kept dance-oriented bass and funky chorus and sampling was underground house (Miguel Migs) and west coast g-funk. Even now when I hear what they called the new school rap from the 1990's, I feel rap is missing the funky background music of the 80's. Today's rap has bling bling videos and technology, but no musicianship, so no soul.
If this could get more exposure it could help push hip hop in a great direction. Staying true to the very sample based medium that is Acid Jazz/HIp Hop, but layered with new and more intricate beats and patterns, revisiting an era of music where the harsh sound of sawtooth waves dominated the synthesizers, yet introducing more creativity within the genre. :3 It's time for the underground to get what it rightfully deserves!
I ordered the cd on the internet a few weeks ago. Yesterday I received a damn LP! Then I was thinking.. It's actually fuckin awesome! Today I bought an LP player just for this album.. Now I'm all oldskool and shit sweeetttt
one of the most creative songs ive ever heard....man its a travesty i dont hear this played, this makes me wanna hit the city and hit a lounge or club with a sexy woman.
My favorite five star sample!!! I played the original 3 days ago at a club here in Holland. Young fools couldn't digg it. I hope Onra schools the youth cause these day it's mental musical poverty.
@thompsonharleyo Let Me Be The One' by Five Star. That was a British band, consisted of 3 sisters and 2 brother that kinda looked like the Jackson family.
Tuuuuune ! Love the 80's themed beat ! Such a siiick song, gonna rinse this now !
