  • good vid. i appreciate like-minded ppl too.

  • Hi Atlanta,

well, I'm sure you know what dark, sexy, and elegant means so I guess the last part stumped you lol

Emotionally-intelligent looking would translate into approachable.

  • HA, unity in my life, growin up, race, community and society have NOT been unified ( my family wasnt unified either growin up i was pretty much on my own ,save one or two people in my youth ) now my wife and kids , thats wat i find unified ( if i sound a little angery , i am cause ive found a lot has not changed in any of it ( because im so different , ive found it hard to make friends , hell i cant even get people to comment on my vids and its all because of how i look )

  • Happy Kwanzaa to you sister. I really do enjoy your vids. And I also happen to like how you like...dark, sexy, elegant and emotionally-intelligent looking!

    Does that make sense, sis?

  • Hmm ... not really. Please elaborate.

  • Wouldn't it be creating a mutual admiration society? People who only think alike, with no opposing views from my own?

"Just putting a little somthin, somthin in the gumbo pot here." Keep it cooking AtlantaSista....

  • maybe so. Interesting. But I did not say one should just totally discount the opinion of those with opposing points of view.

  • Cool, I hear ya. I wasn't necessarily referring to you, but, in relation to the "group think" mob that pervades everyday life. There is a subculture of self-involved [persona non grata] in the world today. "Stand alone and standout." I want my "15 minutes" please! No what I mean?

  • First of all...I have to look at your earrings on each of your videos because you have the best earrings! Second of all I agree with you that you have to "unify" with like minded individuals. I've learned in life that I am not like a lot of people and I have to find people who are like me that want the same things out of life, and who have the best in mind for others who may not be as fortunate as we may be. Unity is not just for a race of people, but for human kind as a whole.

  • I think that this year we as a people saw a reason to unify more than others. i think we have started and Presiden-elect historic had a lot to do with that.

not him but us we did what we needed to do. of course it was not all us but others outside showed us through their unity that we could. i look forward to tomorrow.

  • Yeah, tomorrow does seem like a favorable place. I am excited about it.

  • Habari Gani(What's the news):

    UMOJA!!!!! (Unity)

As far as UNITY I try to emphasize a united positive progressive Mind-state for OUR people. I attempt to do so by remiding Our people of or past greatness, and our current, seldom talked about, greatness. I think OUR people coming to a point of Collective consiousness of who we are and who were are destined to become, will aid in our transition to Future GREATNESS!

    KWAHERI (parting with good wishes)

    My Atlanta Sistah.

  • Aight sister! I see you! I thought I was the only one. Imma post a vid after after we light that seventh candle, to show how my family does our Kwanzaa thang. Keep it up sis.

  • Cool! I look forward to it.

  • I agree with you atlantasistah, but some black people's efforts to help the black communnity, actions are counterproductive.

Example sergenatwilliepete, he thinks he helping but his messages are detrimental to community.

  • you look beautiful atlanta sista

  • Thanks!

  • great vid atlsis! are you gonna make this a playlist?

unity: i would say that striving for the common goal even if it is in different ways is unity. you dont necessarily need to like someone to be unified with them, but if you can respect them and protect them past the bs thats unity to me.

    thats unconditional love.

and thats how i promote unity. by remaining positive and really spreading UNCONDITIONAL love.

but yea i do realize thats probably very utopian.....

  • I agree with your definition of unity..and i like it!

before watching this video I kind of wasn't crazy about Kwanzaa in general because i felt that it took away from the purpose and reason of the season: The birth of Christ. Although the commercialization of Christmas has polluted this purpose in and of itself...I guess I thought, why is it any different from Kwanzaa.

i still think kwanzaa should NOT be used as a *replacement* for Christmas..this is my personal opinion of course.

    Thanks!

  • It definitely is not a replacement. In my life it is an enhancement. It allows me to really reflect on principles that I am so sure Jesus agrees with.

  • I really like how you view the seven days of Kwanzaa as a time for reflection as we head into a new year. That's a wonderful way to think of it.

    Happy Kwanzaa!

  • i like that shirt u nutt case!! great vid too! i like ya house!! & yes i agree wit Bitta when people agree to disagree unity may become possible!!

  • I love that shirt. I forgot I had it on. LOL!

  • i think unity can work when people respect others' points of views...agreeing to disagree. once people get over that hump the rest is easy. by the way...love the shirt.
