I only can say that Cal Tjader has been always one of the wonders of Latin Jazz Music, actually a pioneer of latin jazz in the earliest times when latin jazz was not even called latin jazz. A great VIBES player, arranger and composer. I always listened Cal Tjader since the earliest 60's when I really got into this type of music. I feel very sorry that he died actually when he still could be playing today. I love Cal Tjader where ever you are. rsalazarjr
@skipjack02, no right decade. Look at what he left you to enjoy! I have had the pleasure to see, listen and mambo to his music in my youth. In case you didn't notice, that's Pancho Sanchez on percussion.

@73dodge You know, all I can say is that most folks forgot was good music such as this! And I think I can ask the same question! What ever happened to alot of the good easy music and jazz classics that many of our parents and grand parents grew up and danced too? Don't get me wrong because I also love good easy favorites like Les Baxter, Martin Denny and Cal Tjader!
I almost did not recognize Clare Fischer. What a great keyboard man, and writer of some classic tunes. I remember exactly where I was when Cal died..Frederick Maryland, in our apartment in the kitchen listening to WAMU. I cried..never having seen him live, I owned almost everything he recorded...what a fool I was to not see him. I truely got into latin jazz, and then into latin music because of this man. Not bad for two gringos!
and clare fischer! i have never seen footage of him playing, the whole combo took latin music to a wider audience

Cal Tjader, the swingingest S.O.B. ever.
I've been listening to the likes of this since the late 50's.
I listen now and get lost in the music.
Does anybody remember Alison Steele (A.K.A. the night-bird) on WNEW FM (New York); she put me to bed every night.
