In some areas the majority of people accept gays and the minority are too afraid to say anything because they know they're in the wrong for discriminating + will be labelled "old fashioned".

Chavs are 10 years behind the rest of Britain and are still vastly homophobic, so if you did this in a chav populated school you'd probably be beaten to a pulp in a matter of minutes. But schools like this (fairly common) would treat it like a straight relationship, thankfully.
