  • I remember Jaime -- he got a perfect bid to get up on stage, he got a perfect Check Game and then he got both showcases.

  • He's a DSW too!

  • Before they changed the win range to 7000-8000, the magic check amount that worked with the 5000-6000 range was $2,000. Later on in the 5-6 range, the prizes were usually in the 3000 -4000 range

  • Considering most people don't know how to play this game at all, I tip my hat to this guy.

  • awesome

  • Dead Baby Floating In A Fish Tank

  • Tpir

    Where Shower Game???

  • Well atleast he didn't put $13,000 like that other guy

  • That was a great win!

  • I remember as a child someone losing the check game, going over by a dollar. This is a 1st for me, getting it exactly right.

  • Is that the first $6000 win in Check Game?

  • He's obviously a CS student. He doesn't know how to use a pen!

  • PURRRRRRRRRRRRFECTION

  • This guy later won both showcases in the showcase

  • What a HANDSOME Contestant.!

  • This would be another historical moment!

He does know how to play the game!

  • The contestant doesn't know how to write a check and Bob gets the math wrong. Fantastic work by everyone here! :)

  • @Shinyminidragon : LOL

  • To whoever asked if he was the 1st one to win the highest amt possible: he was the 1st and ONLY one to do it! I remember watching this episode when it was originally aired: 1/4/99.

  • bob made the contestant fill out the rest of the check, drew doesn;t. My guess is for timing?

  • Yes. Not writing in the words has actually been a practice as early as season 34 in some instances.

  • I think people today are too stupid to know how to write a check.

  • i DO know how to write a check. its spelled c.h.e.c.k LOL

  • well played sir!

  • whats a check?

  • @junglemage666 : whats a bank account

  • @hjgardner79 : today we TYPE it. LOL

  • Since the amount of cash you can win depends on the price of the prize, there may have been others who have won either more money or a more expensive prize, but he was the first to win with a total of exactly $6,000 so he won as much money as he possibly could have.

  • very true: during the early days of check game it wasn't uncommon to hit the winning range with a check written for $500....

  • Is he the first person to win the highest amount possible?

  • I know I saw this one on TV, or a taping a least.

  • he almost lost!!! one dollar more would lose it so if he wrote 2201 he would've lost

  • i dont get it, hoew do u play???

  • it's kind of like Range Game. You gotta have some idea of the price of the prize. Then you add an amount of money to add to the price of the prize. If the total of the money and the prize are within the $1000 range, you win. If you're outside of the range, you lose. EX: Prize worth 3400. Player has an idea the price is 3500.

they write a check for 2500. The total of the check + price of prize(2500+3400=5900) and a win. If the prize was $1k less, it would be a loss

  • OH, I think I got it, thanks!

  • when did this originally air? looks like about 1994 or 95?

  • A salute to you man, Congratulations!

  • From what I have heard next season when they play the Check Game the range is going to be from $7000-$8000.

  • It's True. The Check Game was on today (9-23-08) and the contestant lost big. He went over by nearly $2,000.

  • Bob didn't take the check....

  • LOL. Not only does the guy write "thousand" on the check when he should have wrote "hundred" but then Bob also goofs it up by getting the total wrong. Classic moment.

  • To win the check game you must come at least $5000 but not Over 6000. this is one of the playing of check game where a contestant wins the brass bed, and twenty-two hundred bucks. Its Sheer luck I tell you.

  • RE.The brass bed with a king sized matress.

  • WHOOOO! CAL STATE FULLERTON!

  • A win is expected:

    $2,200+ $3,800= $6,000

Not to throw a spoiler here.

  • This could also be something for the Million Dollar Spectacular specials: Get $5,000 or $6,000 on the nose in Check Game...YOU WIN $1 MILLION!!!!!

  • That's a little difficult. Perhaps be within $50 or $100 of $6,000 (now $8,000) without going over.

  • hax!

  • What did he right in the "DOLLARS" blank there? I couldn't read it.1

  • He wrote "Twenty Two Thousand" rather than "Twenty Two Hundred" ... missed by a only a factor of 10!

  • For once somebody knew how to play this game, & he played it as well as possible!!! (minus writing out "twenty-two thousand dollars".

  • Wow never seen that happen before. Is this game still in play or has it been retired? I haven't seen this played when I do get a chance to watch TPIR

  • It is still in rotation today even into the Drew Carey era. Check the clips for it.

  • Thanks. The next time I got to watch TPIR and saw Check Game and thought well that answers my question that I posted here.

  • WOW! I thought it was retired,But since it is still in rotation, I guess we are lucky.

  • Is it true, and that the fact the last playing of check game on the price is right is not really the last playing?

  • Huh? Check Game is not retired nor is it being considered for retirement.

  • @pressmin Check Game off Rotation -- Assuming retired.

  • @pressmin Check Game off Rotation -- Assuming retired.

  • @tomgene1976

Currently, the game is in hiatus. Fremantle Media is redesigning it, so when it reappears, it'll probably look terrible, just like any other game they updated, that never should've been updated.

(Some games always got updates, so I'm not upset about those.)

  • @georgef551 Maybe the purpose of the redesign is to increase the value of those contestant checks.

  • @MONOPOLY35

They wouldn't need to update the game itself in that case, UNLESS there's a 5'th digit involved ($10K and up).

  • This was History for the check game on the Price is Right. The contestant got $6,000. You must be between $5,000 and $6,000 to win the check game on the Price is Right.

  • $6,000 Right on the Nose!

  • I REMEMBER THIS!

  • what year was this?

  • 2000.

  • In the yeeeeeeeeear two thoooooooooooooooousaaaaaaaaand!
