  • Can`t get enough of this tune. Pure classic sound, makes you breakout in goosebobs

  • Proper lyricists in motown then. Sung with real feeling. Really real. I think it was something in the earth there as well as social demography (ok, alice cooper proves me wrong)

  • You diamond! Quality tune, cheers bruv!

  • Part 2

Fear that you have to feel, its unfair how could it be

How long must we go on, needing each other yet being alone

Girl have more faith in me, I’ll show you how sweet my love can be

I’ll stand beside you love, oh you know I’ll really guide your love

Baby Suspicion in your mind, only suspicion keeps you blind

Baby Suspicion in your heart, baby suspicion keeps us apart

  • @danibabass here is my version of the lyrics : )

    SUSPICION - THE ORIGINALS

Please don’t say no again, can’t we be more than just friends

Someone has broken your heart, why let the past keep us apart

I know how you feel, cos I’ve suffered the same ordeal.

But now I know the laws of love, I could never hurt your love.

Baby, Suspicion in your mind, only suspicion makes you blind

Darling, Suspicion in your heart, baby suspicion keeps us apart

  • Well not sure lol but maybe this ???

Cos one day you’ll open up the door I’m sure

Baby when your loving heart comes round

I’ll be there where I can be found

You are afraid of me today, but don’t you steal your faith away

I have had soul since I was 16yrs old : ) go to many, many soul venues and listen to classics like these : ) Thank you once again, this is great : )

  • if carlsberg did soul records?top choooon!

  • Always remind me of Isle of Wight Scooter rally 1983, first time i heard it, blew me away! and still does

  • If anyone knows where i can download this song please PM me thanks

  • I bought a reissue copy of this on a british label that was black with red writing at the 100 club in 1986. Unfortunately it was destroyed in a fire at a mates house soon afterwards.

  • Recorded by the Originals in 1966 but remained unreleased. Found on acetate by a NS DJ and was pressed in the late 70's (what year exactly and which DJ. Anyone?). Can be found on a pressing in the style of the SOUL label with an instrumental flipside. The Detroit Prophets version is, probably, an adulterated version of the Originals. The Originals version was speeded up to suit the style of the late 70's / early 80's. The increased speed also affected the vocal pitch. Hope this helps.

  • detroit spinners made a higher tempo version, i think better?!

  • @hapkidolondon

and how can i find THAT higher tempo version??? please..can anyone help me out????

  • First heard this in the eighties at the Northern Soul Allnighters that I was always at- What a great song in every way. I love it. Reminds me of scooter rallies and allnighters. A great time of my life. Thanks for posting.

  • Is it true that this song wasn't commercially released on a 45? For years I thought I'll Take Care Of You by Marvin Gaye was only an album track but I found the 45 recently.

  • @michaelix1 It certainly does they were so good all those years ago, yet sometimes it seems only yesterday, they were very versatile too The Originals, I've quite a few 45 rpm singles by them too, I'm hoping their countless tracks still in Motown's vaults will surface eventually too :-) JOHN

  • I saw The Originals play this live at the Ritz Manchester in 2002 (Richard Searlings 50th Birthday allnighter. It will go down as one of the great memorable nights of my life.

  • Yeah MotownM. Great songs like "baby i'm for real", "moment of truth", "green grow the lilacs" Do you agree? Peace!

  • Yes, indeed they were lovely songs, like "The Bells" too! I might put them on here soon so people can hear them, if no one has done it already.

    John

  • @MotownMagic1959 Please do.

  • This really hits the spot!!!!

  • This is unusual as The Originals were usually doing more ballads and slower songs that I liked just as much!

    John
