Baby Robin: I wanna see that guy with the thingy in his hand. *pokes head out from under Mom/Dad (think it's dad since the plumage on the chest is dark and not dully like the females, but I can't really tell due to vid quality. )
!!!!! if you touched the babies the mom would have abbandoned them and they would die ik bc we have a nest in out little tree and when i went to put the robin's egg back in the nest because it fell when we were doing our easter egg hunt and my parents told me ! haha
Our house is now 10 years old and we have our first robin's nest being constructed. I found your video when looking up what we can expect. Thank you for producing and posting.
Loved the video! Thanks for posting. I used to take care of abandoned baby robins at a humane society wildlife nursery. :) Only 8 days and all those feathers!
Love this, frustrating because we even put up a robin "ledge" and cannot get them to nest anywhere. I do want to advise, when they get older and aware of your presence, you should stop getting close. They are more likely to fledge too early and be vulnerable to predators on the ground and being killed. If you come too close and they are aware of you, they might jump for it too early. I usually stop checking on my fledglings after about 7-8 days. But, love the video and commentary.
i wish too beacuse were i live there is a bunch of little kids and they are little fuckers and like to take town the nest and get the eggs and try and grow them themselves but they cant cus they are a bunch of retards
Good question. There were 2 birds taking care of this nest and both were red breasted. Does this mean it was a gay couple. If so where did they get the eggs? Eggdoption.
Eggzactly! lol...I saw two males raising a chick before at the park. I wonder where the mom's go after they hatch because the males do take care of the chicks once the chicks fledge. I'll have to do more research.
tHIS IS A first time mom because only the inexperienced birds builds nests so low to the ground. most robins go way higher like 20 feet up in the air.
ive got a bird's nest right beside my front door on the ground with little eggs and somehow the nest seems to make its way in front of my door...the little bastards...
i had one of these nests in the hedge in my backyard. i climbed up there and took pictures, and to my surprise there were eggs in there...later i looked on the ground and sure enough i found egg shells. blue ones. it was so cool and later i saw the little babies. so far there have been robins using that nest for 3 years...no one used it this year...but it was too cool.
Sometimes a new mother will come lay eggs in the same season. We had one in the back yard that produced 3 babies too. It's fun to watch it all happen!
Oh yeah she was pissed. Lol! I almost died when the mom was sitting on the nest and the baby sticks his head out like "Mooom, get off, I can't breathe!" LMAO!
That's exactly what my mom wants to do. She has this huge garden, and she wants to raise chickens for that reason. Gas is getting to expensive, and if we don't have to go into town to buy expensive food and use expensive fuel to get into town, then we have some worries off of our chests.
Matt! This is so freakin' awesome! I LOVED it! Must have taken a lot of editing and a lot of patience to make this but holy, am I ever glad you did. I can't believe how big they get after 8 days after hatching! That's insane! I have to so Alex this. She'll love it. Thanks again! :)
You know what we just did? I cut R's hair out on the deck, so later this year if we find a nest it will be lined with his hair. I would suggest you do the same but....LOL
I feel your pain. last year they built a nest above our door. After the chicks were born they flew away. They were gone 3 days so I thought I would take down the nest and clean up the mud and he mess they created. Well they came back to try to build another nest and I kept knocking down the mud and twigs then they decided to get gang together. So I finally purchased Long Plastic Spikes to above the door and won!
hahahhahaa! I was cracking up at that first baby Robin sticking it's head out! That was fabulous! Well done... it came to such an abrupt ending... Their beginning.. They had such big mouths! lol!!!!
