@mafiaman7productions Two ways around this... the first is to turn your patter into a story about something that happened to you. That way you can say, "How many balls do you think I said the guy had?" Even if they answer with the correct number, you can say, "Well I wasn't as smart as you, I thought there were two and I was wrong." Another option is to not perform that trick one-on-one, make sure there are other people there to ask. Then you can go, "What about you, sir? What do you think?"
@mafiaman7productions Always have a plan. See if you can take every trick that you perform and come up with a way to have the spectator examine them. Some tricks are better for performing on the street than others. If your show is paced so that you are ready for the next trick before they have a chance to ask about the last trick, then you can end with a strong examinable trick without giving them the opportunity to ask about the others. Trick selection, audience management, and pacing.
Thanks alot criss. Hey no disrespect but I think it would be a good idea to make an episode on how many people say no and how to stay confident.. I know that was the hardest part for me when I started.
Wow man! I said it on the first video and I have to say it again here; You are giving SO much valuable information! I mean honest. Wonderful man. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I can't wait till the Pitch information comes up.
A video series that Actually tell people what and what not to do, instead of some superficial information written in some books with thousands of pages! Bravo! :D
@1492studios We're working on a lot of different projects which is slowing down the production of these videos. I'm hoping that some time next week, we'll have another one up.
can you talk about how you get your spectators to leave a tip in your next episode? I mean imo its kinda rude to say, "now i showed you some magic, give me some money ", or something like that..xd
Hey Chris. This great stuff. I assumed that you only demo-ed the tricks on camera for Youtube/marketing purposes rather than performed magic in anger (as it were). This is a revelation. Great tips and tuition. I look forward to more of the same.
@iRevealMagicTricks4u what you can say is... ha ha you got me... now lets see if you will get this one. and go on don't stop or wate to long. try not to freez. just move on. and think about it later so you don't do it again.
actually what i do is perform a silent opening routine, e.g linking rings or juggling. cup and and balls. and make eye contact with the people who will watch you. they will come over and start your core group.
ok so Chris i have a question :: what if I do some card magic and I finished the trick can I say do you want to see another trick and they say sure or I don't say nothing
i think the best thing to say after you have got your core audience say to random people walking past "did you see the card" if they say no say "come here, now did you see it" then you have got your new audience member
hey Chris please respond I just got the obedient ball today but for some reason it stopped work I reset the gimmick but it still won't work do you know a way to fix it ? Reply ASAP
@pokenerffan Hi, it's hard to describe through text. I'd just keep trying to reset it (in both directions). If that doesn't work, just give us a call tomorrow and we'll help you out over the phone.
Thank you very much Chris for the information and tips. I sincerely appreciate it! By the way, will you give us pointers on how to accept, ask, or receive tips? Thanks!
@magicgeekinc would you reccomend Houdini Chain Shackle Escape as an opener or to draw people in? i've been thinking about buying it but i am not sure which situations are best or if i would use it much at all. thanks for the advice.
@TheYoyomichael Thanks for your interest! We have two to four more planned. They take quite a while to put together. They'll get posted maybe once a week. You can sub our channel or Blog to get notified when the next video gets put up.
@isetmfriendsofire True. That can help, and it does when we are shooting demos, but for this I made the camera guy stand far enough away so that we got a true example. When I usually go out, I don't have the aid of a camera crew. And actually, there were a few groups that did not want to be on camera, so for that, it actually became a problem.
@deadmanavir It's kind of like a car wreck, people are curious to see what is going to be done with the knife. They like the element of danger. This is not a method that I use, but I have seen it done and it does create a crowd (but they do tend to watch from more of a distance.)
check out my channel please! :)

this was very helpful. three things.
one, what if you are a kid, it is hard to be taken seriously.
two, how do you ask for tips without being rude like: "got any money for me, please!"
three, i decided that i would keep the tricks and not return them.

In your next episode could you include what you say when you mess up and reveal a trick, and the spectators see it.
