  • I added to much cornstarch

  • your style of cooking this dish doesnt use ginger or hoisin sauce why not?

  • does it have to be peanut oil?

  • @JustLovelyyyy You can use any oil that has a high smoke point. So vegetable oil would work fine as well :)

  • I make this stew that combines general tso's chicken, chicken lo mein, and rice. I also add my secret chinese sauce (1 packet soy sauce, 1 packet hot mustard, and 1 packet duck sauce)

  • Wow, I love your channel. I am addicted to chinese food and theres this chinese place 1 minute away which I go to too much lol. I think I will just make my own chinese food from now on all thanks to you.

  • @BlackMasterJoe89 lol, thank you so much! I really appreciate this comment :)

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy do not sherry...do have subtitue for people under 18?

  • Thank you!! Will it ruin the flavor if I use just half of all the ingredients or will it still taste the same?

  • Thanx Lila. Great Traditional Dish.

I just commented on your shrimp toast video an hour or so ago. I subscribed to your channel! :)

  • I have a question, what Sherry do you use? What department would i find it in at the store?

  • @bradmcklin Hi, I use Holland House Cooking Sherry which is usually found near the vinegar in most grocery stores. Also, I sometimes substitute with Shao Hsing cooking wine found in most Asian grocery stores :)

  • GREAT! Love your videos, really helpful.

  • Is it okay to give sherry to kids

  • @pepper6dog The alcohol cooks out when it's boiled so that it just adds flavor and not actual alcohol :)

  • @pepper6dog oh shut up

  • Thank you very much for this delicious recipe :D

  • amazing is all i can say about your recipes ty so much 4 sharing with us all

  • Hi Lila!

I would like to know if the sherry that you take in your receipe is the same thing than 'Sherry VINEGAR' ?

Also, I used Sake because i was not founding Sherry in my grocery... do you thing it's ok to use sake instead of sherry? Thank you so muche

  • @MrDogfish120 Thank you :)

  • Hello I would like to know what kind of sherry do you use and what substitute can you use if you do not have sherry?

  • @MarcusAurelius82

I used sake instead of sherry and it was perfect!

  • I have made this recipe and your orange chicken recipe!!!! OMG so Delicious thank you so much :)

  • @kitchenladyful Thank you so much for trying my recipes! :)

  • can you cook chinese food with vegetable oil?

  • @the09conradz Yes you can use vegetable or canola oil as well :)

  • @the09conradz thank you. can you cook on an electric stove? what stove do you use?

  • Thank you for the very clear instructions on making General Tso's Chicken, I will be trying this hopefully tonight.

  • @ImFleton Thank you - let me know how it turns out :)

  • Your food looks so good! I'm going to try some of these recipes for my family. Chinese take out is so expensive for a family of eight. So as an alternative we get frozen Chinese meals, and they taste terrible. So hopefully this will replace our present form of a Chinese meal. General Tso's is my favorite!

  • @gymsoccerkids I can imagine it takes a lot to feed a family of eight. I hope all of you enjoy this - thank you for the comment :)

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy Thank you for the delicious recipe:) The General Tso's was amazing!

  • @gymsoccerkids Oh I'm so glad that all of you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for letting me know - I appreciate it :)

  • How much more chili garlic sauce will I have to add to make it spicy enough to have that "heat" but not overpower the flavor of the sauce?

  • @gonzoducks8 Hi - Hot chili garlic sauce adds a lot of flavor to a dish and (to me) just a little bit of heat. If you want a lot of heat without affecting the flavor I would suggest adding Dave's Insanity Sauce. I always add this to my dishes (just to my portion since not everyone likes that much heat.) Just a drop or two adds heat without changing the flavor of a dish :)

  • Just sub you made it look easy...will have to try thanks for the vid

  • That looks sooo good :)

  • @dantrombonedude124 Thank you :)

  • God ur man will/is lucky. Such great food :P

  • @haku22222 Thank you :)

  • This is so amazing! I tried to make "my own" version and failed. Then I found this and I was like "ohhh, corn starch". Thanks a ton! It's awesome! I'm totally jealous of your wok too!

  • @CrazyCheeseCurlz Thank you - the wok is just a no stick Joyce Chen that I've had forever :)

  • does it taste good ?

  • @islam281994 Yes :)

  • @islam281994 thats what she said

  • I just made this for supper and it taste great! It's hard to find time to cook good chinese food (my hubby and i LOVE) and this was so fast! Also where we're trying to save some money back this is alot cheaper than going out to the chinese buffett haha! Thank you so much for this!

  • @LexiesMama2008 Thank you so much for trying this and posting :)

  • hehehe just like that ^-^

  • this is a great video :] very organized too!

  • @JessyxLin Thank you - I appreciate it :)

  • I like to watch your videos. Food looks really good and I like to count how many times you say "go ahead". 10 in this video i think haha.

  • @justin101277 lol - Thank you :)

  • that looks amazingly deliceous

  • @supernerf105 Thank you and thanks for subscribing :)

  • @TheGloryOfJetfire This recipe is very good without the ginger, but It just depends on your personal taste :)

  • nice presentation, nice clear voice, well done. Thank You. Paul

  • @icu650 Thank you :)

  • Finally! Someone on here using something hot in what is supposed to be a hot and spicy recipe. Thank you!! :)

  • Yes, I'm going shopping tomorrow!! Can't wait to try this recipe (^_^)

  • I had to write it all down, because the printer was broken... It was fun, though!... :D

  • u like onions huh

  • lovely!

  • Wine... I go it!!!

  • the recipe calls for 2 tbsp sherry.... Sherry vinager or what is it?

  • again omg thanks for the holiday help, my gf is starting to get jealous

  • How delightful! Thank you ever so much for your hard work and sharing of recipes!

  • How come she is outside cooking, just wondering?

  • @dekerranda I do most of my frying outside to avoid the mess indoors :)

  • .: is that sherry wine or vinegar ?? :.

  • @Zjazmin I used 2 tbsp of white vinegar and 2 tbsp of sherry which is a cooking wine :)

  • Looks fantastic! I have always liked mine superhot, so how do you make it hot? Like what is the ideal and/or original hot pepper to add to make it authentic? :-)

  • I have watched several of your videos. Very well presented and everything you fix looks delicious. At least everything I have seen. Thanks for taking the time to upload the videos.

  • @malador1952 Thank you for the comment and for watching :)

  • that looks so freaking good!

  • whats wok?

  • @y2jallrealgangsta A wok is a large pot / pan used in Chinese cooking - It's what I cook the chicken in in this video :)

  • That looks good my girlfriend is going to try and make it!!! Thanks for the upload I love General Tso's

  • Thicken chicken... Just like that : )

  • Very well presented. Just a tip: do not use the same cutting board for meat and veggies.

  • but they both got cooked your just looking for faults

  • looks good!

  • What is sherry?

  • @qwesrtyuiojordan123 Sherry is a fotified wine and in this recipe I use cooking sherry which can be found in most local grocery stores near the vinegar section :)

  • think maybe a didnt use enough water in my cornstarch altho it was smooth, but it seemed that the cornstarch mix thickened by itself and created large clumps of cornstarch in the sauce. when i try again i will try more water.

  • LOVE your southern accent! I was not expecting it. Great recipe, thanks.

  • does she have her wok on the grill. ecause i've done that when my power was out

  • @Juniper1098 My grill has a burner so I do most of my frying outside simply to avoid having a greasy mess inside :)

  • dOes all asian fOod require peanut Oil instead Of regular Oil?

  • @mrzfebo No, you just need an oil that has a high smoke point for frying. Vegetable, corn, or canola oil would work fine as well. I like the way the Louana brand peanut oil frys. And as you cook more with oil you may find one that works better for you :)

  • can u sub chicken broth for water??

  • @adrimn16 If you use water instead of the broth it will lack a bit of flavor. You could use a vegetable broth instead - that would work as well :)

  • Girl you are awesome!!!! gonna try all your videos!

  • do you have to use sherri??

  • @manysgurl89 For this recipe you don't have to use it though it does add a little hint of flavor to the sauce :)

  • Yeah I also needed the full 10 minutes. It was very tempting to take it out earlier, but it really needs to be crispy.

  • I made this and it was good. I added a bit more hot pepper in the marinade. Right at the end of mixing the final dish I added sesame oil for flavor. I personally like small chicken pieces though so mine weren't as big.

Don't judge the final outcome by the initial sauce mix. This *IS* a good recipe.

Don't ever make this recipe that includes ketchup or tomato sauce (in my opinion of course).

  • very good recipe, i'd like to see it final on a plate tho... dont like the red subs, very annoying

  • does it have to be peanut oil o can you use like regular vegatable oil...

also does the chicen cook all the way through all thre time when you only cook the chicken for 10 minutes or until the outside shell is brown? Because i really love General Tso's chicken and also orange chicken.

  • anyone else watching this but never intending to actually make it? lol

  • I loved it i made it for my family and my mom loved it :) thank you so much and plus its my favourite dish :) thanks a lot :) <3

  • gracias ta rica la receta besitossssss

  • that is awesome thanks for the recipe, anybody knows the history of General Tso's chicken? just wondering

  • ok thank you for responding...im definitely going to try this recipe!!!

  • what the difference between flour and corn stark?

could I just use flour to give it the same flavor?

    thanks

  • @sevensage7 I use cornstarch as a thickner in this recipe and the flour would not work in the same way :)

  • Is there a way to make this without sherry, wine, or anything without alcohol?

  • @TheHoody46 For this recipe you can substitute the 2tbsp of sherry with 1 tbsp of vinegar and 1 tbsp chicken broth :)

  • Great dish, good breakdown. That slow typing graphic on your point-form slides needs to go though.

  • I love your accent! Your screen name is accurate! These recipes seem simple and I can't wait to try one!

  • Is there a substitute for the sherry?

  • @jllowen88 Shao hsing wine is a good substitute, or another dry white would be fine in this recipe too :)

  • ive noticed that when making a badder as opposed to dipping, the chicken is much crunchier when you double dip. the badder although easier and effective, the chicken is usually soggier. to each his own

you recipe was great btw, but i added dark soy sauce 1 to 2 parts regular soy sauce, used less sugar, and used rice wine vinegar instead... tastes great

  • dont take this the wrong way but 'just like that' is the catchphrase of the millenium :D

  • Hello,

Nice video and good explanation, Do you have recipe without sugar added?

    Thank's

  • @mica455go This recipe is generally sweet in nature. You can use a natural sugar substitute like stevia if you wish, but it will still change the flavor a bit :)

  • Is sherry the same as vermouth and do I need dry or sweet?

  • @NYHONEYDEW Sherry and vermouth are both foritied wines, but are a bit different in flavor. For this recipe you can use dry vermouth, but you may need to add a little salt as well :)

  • Most people I know make their General Tso's Chicken spicy. It's nice to see you cut your chicken up and make your own batter though. One person on YouTube made her's with Tyson's frozen chicken nuggets that were already breaded LOL.

  • @Viktir666 I saw that one lol lazy bitch

  • @Escapist3434 LOL yeah she should have just thrown a chihuahua in the microwave and tossed it into the bowl. That would be "AsianCookingMadeEasy" for sure.

  • What's a good dish to pair this with? By the way, words cannot describe how delicious that chicken looked towards the end.

  • @BehindChanelGlasses I usually serve this with fried rice and steamed broccoli. Thank you for writing and watching :)

  • THANKS!!! you made this tutorial soo easy to understand..and i can actually c the amazing chep SHOW the steps..rather than say it.

  • i make this for my family, we are indian, but love chinese foods

  • hey i love this general tso's chick it was great this was the best recipe I seen for it. I did try to tonight for dinner made it for the family it was very good. I never did try it with regular chicken wings yet but i will the only problem mine came out tasting just like sweet n sour chicken haha it could be because i didn't have the sherry wine and the garlic paste thing so i did without but thanks again.

  • my wife makes this for me those are the benefits of having a chinese WIFE I LOVE HER

  • hey this is great i'm gonna make this soon as I get some chicken breast but you think it would taste good adding this sauce to fried chicken wings instead of the chopped chicken breast?

  • @jball2ktherapper I've never tried it, but it sounds like a great idea! Let me know what you think if you do this :)

  • marry me. :) lol kiddin. ive been wanting to do this! so im doing this tomorrow but i think i wont do it with 1/2 cup sugar. i think it's a little too much.. maybe just 1/8 cup? or maybe 1/4.

  • How many plates and cups and bowls did this woman use to make this recipe?

  • looks soo yummy

  • my sauce did not come out right :(

the mixture of sugar, vinegar, and cornstarch come out weird

it was a very light brown looking color and it came out too thick. can you tell me what i may have done wrong??

  • I'm thinking you may have added in the cornstarch a little late. You want to make sure to add it just as the sauce is coming to a boil (as soon as the sides start to bubble) and then stir it continuously. Then once the chicken is added, and the sauce is thickened turn off the heat :)

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy I keep my cornstarch mixture cold before I add it to a hot mixture. It helps the thickening process as well.

  • i have everything except for the corn starch :(

will it be okay to still make it or no??

  • @XxTruSelfxX no you need the corn starch

  • I use hoisin sauce in my mix, but the way your sauce thickened in the wok looked so good! I'll try your way this weekend. Thank you!

  • It seems very simple and thanks for the step by step instructions followed by writing. Soooo helpful :) I'm gonna try it tonight, yaheeee!

  • what is sherry?

  • Es jerez es una especie de vino.

Sherry is a type of wine

  • I use cooking sherry, which is a wine. It can usually be found near the vinegar section of most local grocery stores :)

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy does it rlly need the sherry>? or do you just like it>?

  • In this recipe, the sherry actually mellows out the vinegar in the sauce so it's not too tangy :)

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy hello what is sherry? and where do i find it in the grocery store?

  • Sherry is a cooking wine and can usually be found near the vinegars in most local grocery stores :)

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy THANK YOU IMA TRY IT JUS THE WAY U COOK IT THIS WEEKEND FOR MY GIRLFRIEND

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy HELLO 1 MORE THING LOL, NOW I FIND OUT IM COOKN FOR 4 PEOPLE SO HOW MUCH MEASUREMENTS DO I NEED 4 ALL THE INGREDIENTS

  • @AASSTT3 you can just add another chicken breast and keep the rest of the ingredients the same. There should be plenty of batter and sauce :)

  • I just made this tonight and it was awesome. I tweaked it a little though, I added rice wine instead of sherry, a little more sriracha(chile garlic sauce), and I added hoisin sauce. I also did a wet batter for the chicken. Thanks for the help!

  • Just made it...This recipe gets 5 stars!!! Thanks!!!!

  • Does the recipe have any "kick" to it? Your using a half of tbsp of chilli sauce, could I push it up to 1tbsp or is half tbsp pretty spicy.

  • i tried it and used 1 1/2 tbsp and it was perfect.

  • That looks so tasty I am going to make this

  • mui bien

  • eh i had it i like itkmans version mixed with your version slightly

  • @clayvision me too. i like itkmans bceause its so easy

  • oooooohhh yeaaahhhh !!!!! I can make general tso chicken !!!!!

I love the marinade I use it for all meat dishes in the future until i get tired of it

  • Thank you so much for that video. I'm going to make it this week hopefully.

  • Will you be making an almond chicken video?

  • Yes I have this on my request list already :)

  • Would you follow the same basic concept for Generl Tso Beef?

  • Although I have never made the beef version, this would work, just make sure to use a tender cut of beef :)

  • ok...I am making it tonight...will let you know how it turned out!

  • That's my favorite dish. Looks tremendous.

Thanks for the video. I've always been curious about how it's made.

  • I don't think you would want an alternative for chicken broth honestly. I've used it in other Asian recipes and it really gives that 'authentic' Asian restaurant taste in my opinion.

  • alternative for chicken broth?

  • You can use vegetable broth as well :)

  • Is there a substitute you can use instead of sherry?

  • You can use either shao hsing wine, or for this recipe a port wine.
