  • Everybody is entitled to their opinion. Some are amazed by annies work and some just aren't but theres no question that she's a very very very very well respected photographer. You can't be that big and not be a good photographer.

I only like some of her work but that doesn't mean I think she's a bad photographer. It's just not my taste.

  • I'm doing a BA in Commercial Photography and there are six photographers whose work I admire and take inspiration from; Annie Leibovitz is one of them.

  • Love Annie.

Annie, you are one of the greatest art teachers around.

  • I know she's not into men and all, but does she have to dress like one?

  • dat bitch.

  • You can simply say that her work is not your taste. Putting a photographer down is just ignorant. Are any of you who are putting down her work photographers? If so, you may be suffering from a huge bout of jealousy.

Real pro's support, they don't put down, even if it's not to their taste. At least all of the photographers I have met through the years.

  • You have to first understand what she shoots and what its for. Summing up her life's work from a vanity fair cover shot is ignorant. Regardless her recent work has nearly flawless technique and we are not talking about a simple 2 light setup. And to insult her artist eye, take a look back at the list of iconic shots that she did from the hip, john lennon naked, schwarzenegger on the horse and so forth. When your collection of work is worth 15 million then you can judge.

  • Annie Liebowitz is one of my favourite photographers! .. beautiful documentary.. thank you for uploading this.

  • Um why is this so cool??

  • Just because something is commericial does not mean it has no value, her work will always be associated with pop culture and pop culture Itself is a major subject within art that we will always deal with.

  • Watched this documentary on TV. Fascinating woman, have a close friend who is a photographer - He adores her and thinks her work is very interesting and stimulating ( his words lol). She has certainly rubbed shoulders with weird and wonderful people.

  • at 8:26 she looks like Barbra Streisand.

  • it's called "creativity", douchebag

  • I imagine the people that don't like her, are also not impressed with Imogen Cunningham, Diane Arbus, Man Ray, Robert Doisneau, and so on.

They must think they take better pictures then the master photogrphers lol.

  • @shane6003PQ Who are those people? I like to take bad pictures and make them vintage, like ashton kootsher did in the TV. If you like these OTHER guys than your a idiot.

  • @shane6003PQ Probably. I'd like to see THEIR photos on covers of magazines. (:

  • @shane6003PQ they probably dont even know them either.

  • HA! These people who suggest her photos aren't any good obviously wouldn't know a perfectly composed (and technically superb) photograph if they saw it; confusing as they are that her photos aren't of the style or type they like and thus they dismiss her work as unworthy. Such a narrow place to begin a critique of anything -- what I like is good anything else is just "mediocre" or captured by chance. Pathetic fools.

  • But have you seen the coffee calendar, oh dear!!

Also the most disaponting art exhibition of 08in London was a Annie L joint at the NPG.

  • whats the song at the very beginning?

    cheers

  • whats the song at the very beginning?

    cheers thanks in advance

  • That's what life is all about being in the right place at the right time.

She did have access but she made it happen and she had a camera.

Some of her work is very average but there are some real winners.

  • Shes an amazing photographer!

She's a real inspiration of mine!

Thankyou so much for the video! x

  • Seriously, what is the fuss about?

Very mediocre work, nothing controversial at all, expect if you are deeply religious. It's advertising shots. Really mediocre.

    NOTHING original.

she takes good shots. BUT absolutely nothing special whatsoever.

  • No they are good really, you must get yourself to an exhibition of her work if you can or just look at a couple of her books.

Some of it is just jobbing PJ work but her big set pieces are wonderful.

And of lot of what one person sees as art the next person might not get.

If I had 1/10th of her talent I would be very happy. Thank you for your comment.

  • Idon't want to get too much into what is art, but Art is a meticulous profession.

    L is just practionaire/ technician/craftswoman.

On a global scale , the work really is mediocre.

I'm afraid that I will have to disagree but at the same time ,thank you heaps on end for taking the time to upload so many wonderful interviews.

  • My sister hates mushrooms, I love them.

Because you have an opinion on her work enough to watch this and to comment, that is what makes art art. Art (modern)is about creating a discussion.

However a lot of what Ms L does is just advertising pack shots, but it is great advertising, so can advertising be art?

  • @Mashangie B.S. Get an eye!

  • Thx for sharing... ;-)

  • Hi ESL lv.3~~ Guys~~ I am Jang~ zz~

  • Yes, thanks for uploading - I watched this the other week and thought it was a brilliant documentary on a brilliant woman!

  • Thank you very much for uploading this, what a wonderful photographer she is. It was a really nice documentary about her and her work.
