  • Grapelli and Reinhardt killin it

  • I love the James Johnson recording - nice to hear it played in original rhythm. The Django Reinhardt has a nice 30's flavor to is as well.

  • 2:50 Those are some SU-WEET looking guitars!

  • It was a surprise to find out that producers would add dynamics to piano rolls.

But I shouldn't be surprised, I guess. If sheet music publishers routinely simplified works by Eubie Blake they can just as easily enhance a piano roll.

I think Charleston #1 was enhanced with added dynamics. Simpler versions I've heard of The Charleston seem closer to how I imagine JP Johnson would have performed it.

PLEASE TELL ME WHICH CHARLESTON SONG IS IN THIS VIDEO AT THE 3:54 MINUTE THANKS.!!

  • How, am I supposed to know?

  • Charleston, de Django Reinhardt

    Tremenda eh?

  • It's not a charleston, just some hokey "theme music" for the scene played on an out of tune piano. It sounds like it borrowed a bit from "Entry of the gladiators" march.

  • By hoki, it's still quite nice, eh?

  • Oh yes, the ones in this video are quite nice indeed (authentic too) but the one that trampakoulas007 posted was terribly hokey, it's just theme music.

This is the GOOD stuff :)

  • @trampakoulas007

so i think it is Eddie Lang with Joe Venuti...

  • Great, thanks for posting!
