  • hahahaha my orchestra teacher tried to play this today. if only the orchestra teachers today played equivalent to this 13 year old prodigy.

  • "Actions are stronger than words."

Thanks for uploading this video! I love this concerto and Itzhak's playing! He expresses his feelings through actions rather than words which is why his music is so inspiring.

  • ...no lo puedo creer!......

  • :O

  • I love his sense of humor

  • i didnt even no fingers can move that fast!!!

  • Whose who think this is amazing should compare to those Asian young talented musicians.

You will be able to find hundreds of them as great as him or even better. He can be so famous because he is not an Asian.

  • What do those complainers expect from a emotionally immature 13-yr boy? Techs alone would promise he'd be among the greatest violinist!

  • BRAVO!!! :))

  • His emotions show through his music, not his body.

I mean, listening without watching him, you'd think it was this ecstatic young character.

But so what? We all love him the way he is, especially looking onto him now, he's just as brilliant as ever.

    Thank you Itzhak Perlman.

  • how does a tiny boy do that???????????????

  • Put headphones on and close your eyes...then try to convince yourself the sound you hear is being played by a 13-year-old.

  • The joy is in the flourishes, in the crispness of his movements, the little smirk he still has that tells you it's just as much fun for him. Magnificent.

  • I bet all the people complaining about Perlman's lack of 'emotion' are the same idiots who fawn over contrived, overhyped pseudo-prodigies like Brianna Kahane.

In the time when Perlman was a child, it was not the fashion for musicians to exaggerate movements or facial expressions like it is today. Musicality was conveyed in more subtle ways, because audiences understood the music and understood when someone was *actually talented* and not just coached to appear that way.

  • @xenophile84 I could not put it in better words myself

  • @xenophile84 Exactly how I feel! Finally someone agrees with me :)

  • He was thirteen. Who cares about his emotions then. HAVE YOU NOT LISTENED TO HIM TODAY?

  • sorry but am a juilliard alumn and i am entitled tomy opinion

unless you have you graduated from Juiliard then you are allowed to doubt me

  • @annajeehee Are you a great violinist?

  • why am not surprised that perlman was a prodigy as a child....

  • Boring - it's very uneventful - I was more exciting than that - sorry but his teacher was not great about that piece

  • @annajeehee im just curious.....do you know who Itzhak Perlman is???!!!!

  • @annajeehee How exciting and famous are you now?

  • omg..

  • 13 years old and performing this quite hard piece so perfectly precisely... and acting so relaxed as if he played all my little ducklings. astonishing.

  • Ah..how come and I didn't put any comment on here, having the video on my Favourites all the time! :-)

Indeed, what emotions are you expecting from a 13y.old boy :-)

Perlman is a violinist who doesn't care of or rule his emotions:-)

and he never thinks of them when he plays(like he said himself)

    a 13 y.old Itzhak feels joy,confidence ,and pride :-)

This is what I see on his face here.

and he is very lucky that he had right people around him to make his talent flourish !

  • xD increiblemente Virtuoso a esta edad uff

  • 1 person is obviously deaf and blind.

  • what a cute little chubby kid...no homo

  • He always shows emotion. He's almost always smiling when he's playing, just a little bit, just shows that he really loves what he's doing. That's the only emotion that matters when you're playing.

  • @cannedspam1

...I guess..we can't say that Perlman SHOWS his emotions..:-)

He just FEELS what he plays..and makes us feel the same..

That 's the greatest "secret" of his talent ...:-)

  • It's extraordinary for a 13 year old, and regardless, when you seem him as an accomplished violinist you can see how he plays with AMAZING amounts of emotion. Quit whining and enjoy.

  • @unitednerdsbeproud Thankis you...Mebbe they could have some cheese with their whine?

  • @unitednerdsbeproud Thank you.Mebbe they could have some cheese with that whine? (and a cracker)

  • he plays it perfectly and the emotion is expressed with ever note he plays! if you're expecting cart wheels while he plays to such perfection you're missing the point.

  • ...I think our reaction should be along the lines of, "oh God, his technique and skill are amazing!"

Not, "Oh dear, his emotions don't show... tisk tisk"

  • @Topwatch288 omg thank you for saying this... I play violin (at a university) and all my teacher and entire studio says to me is that ALL the time. of course, the last comment my teacher gives me after my performance is "oh and by the way, it's the best i've seen you play technically, ever." ha. :P well, I really am trying! but people always want what they can't have.

  • @Topwatch288 Music is artistic expression. That's like saying a poem doesn't really have any real emotion and doesn't move you, but man it was typed well! Perfect grammar and everything!! Just not what art is about...

  • @CliftonMcCallMusic When you listen to his music you can hear the emotion. Just because you can't see it on his face (at this age) doesn't mean it's not there. He's performing naturally, not acting. Plus, he's only 13 here.

  • @Teregliff16 I was replying to Topwatch288 who said that it doesn't matter if his emotions don't show if the technical skill is amazing. I was telling him that music is artistic expression, and therefore, the emotion coming through it extremely important. However, I'm with you. I think he does both very well. I had to reread my comment, because I know if anyone gets something negative from me about Perlman, it must be a misunderstanding.loll

  • Who, anybody, knows from swisscheese at 13........Barely Bar Miztvahed!!! This is greatand it shows us a kid who loves music......YAHOOOOO!!!

  • let's not hate on perlman, esp since he has certainly demonstrated a learning curve regarding "playing with emotion" since he was 13.

  • he IS showing emotion: he looks like he is smiling

  • He was smaller than me =D Kidding. The most talented child in the world :) If I were him, I would also just think about getting prizes, not the beauty of music.

  • He was smaller than me =D Kidding. The most talented child in the world :)

  • estivalia opina: esto es excelente

  • He cuts out like half the piece. I guess it's hard to fit a 7 minute piece into a 3 minute slot, even at that speed.

  • itzhak is obviously an exceptional violinist but the playing in this clip is, technical wise, very good but emotionally, it lacks a little bit

  • He's 13.. what does a 13 year old know of emotion ?

  • He's a prodigy, thats how.

  • @OldTrancer some of my most intense emotional experiences were at 13, they just fade from memory in time

  • @OldTrancer he doesn't have to know of emotion yet the piece wasn't written by him there scooter

how are you to tell, if you can play this, exactly what ol' mendi was feeling

  • @OldTrancer a boy who loses his legs of polio have plenty of emotions

  • I imagine it's hard to play emotionally at that speed. The third movement usually clocks in at around 6 and a half minutes.

  • @snowking0215 ya but hes only 13. now he is a master in everyway

  • seriously? gee look his face and how hes sitting on the chair! heres a beast
