One good piece of advice i would have is to just block off the lava with platforms when you see it. Otherwise it can destroy a mountain of minerals in a few seconds. But what do I know, i only played this game for an hour. I just remember losing about half my minerals on the lower layers to lava.

I found a pretty decent way to collect minerals. Place your scoopers on the side of the screen (left or right, it doesn't matter) dig down a long way, clear out a flat spot, and put a conveyor belt on across the flat spot, and proceed to clear out the rest of the area with your dirtzooka. once cleared, remove the conveyor, extend the scooper and repeat.
