  • i'm going here for college next year, i couldn't be more excited and honored <3 :)

  • @bishopdr who made this rendition of amazing grace? was it a composer who did this or was it the students themselves who helped make this rendition?

  • @LinkXCourage94 Roger Ames

  • i cant wait for my westminster choir college auditions! :D

ill be auditioning in january of 2012.

im really hoping i can get enough scholarship money so i can pay for this college. :O

cause they have amazing singers and the fun thing is that your surrounded by people who share the same feelings as you do.

music is my passion. music is my life. we are connected. and no matter how much my parents disagree with me going to this college first. this will be my first choice college if i get accepted

  • @LinkXCourage94 good luck...If u need help, ask mr Ellerbee :)

  • Beautiful rendition. LOVE the birds chirping.

  • 38k hits wow!!!

  • That

    Was

    AMAZING!!!

That is, without a doubt, the most beautiful and soul-stirring arrangement of this magnificent hymn that I have ever heard. Thank you for sharing that with us.

  • is that james jordan conducting?

  • @arcampersg5 yes! :)

  • Who arranged this version? I would love to find the sheet music.

  • @Lemurbutt roger ames :)

  • I have been passionate about music for the majority of my life, but it was not much more than a year ago when I truly realized the extent of my love for choral music.I have gone from being the awkward boy in choir who couldn’t keep a rhythm/read music to save his life to a confident/capable singer choosing a school to study vocal performance at.I would like to thank the uploder, choir, and conductor for aiding me in making the decision to pursue acceptance from the Westminster Choir College.

  • Just performed in that playhouse yesterday :) Was in the showcase by the middle school musical theater camp. I miss the friends I made there already. But I'll be back for highschool next summer!

  • OMG WOW BEAUTIFUL

  • chills. i performed this arrangement at lincoln center in 2009, and its just such a beautiful piece

  • Yup, you can tell it's Dr. Jordan just from the way he conducts. I was introduced to this in 2001. It was the most moving experience of my life. Seriously, changed my life.

  • This piece and this particular recording captures the essence of ones FIRST experience of the Westminster Experience.

  • Is this the current senior class? Where was it?

  • @computeach1 This was performed in 2008 by the sophomore class in The Playhouse on Westminster's campus.

  • We sang this at Washington All-State this year :) I absolutely loved it. Dr. Jordan was our conductor :)

  • @CountryxSinga I was in All-State too! This song was one of my favorites :)

  • best version i've heard!!! no joke!

  • This is the BEST version of this arrangement I have heard! You guys really worked hard on this! Special shout out to the two female soloists! You guys sounded fantastic! The first soloist has this amazing vibrato, soul, The second solo is so incredibly high and this girl makes it sound effortless, she totally attacks those high notes!

(The version of this arrangement on ITunes, recorded by the Ohio All State Choir sucks. Don't waste your money, the soloists are awful.) STICK WITH THIS VERSION!

  • Major goosebumps and tears. Bravo. <3

  • i just sang this as Washington All-State and James Jordon was our conducter

  • This arrangement was composed by Roger Ames, a high school vocal music teacher and Composer in Residence at a high school on Long Island. In addition to arranging, he is an active composer and conductor. He also spends much time travellinng throughout the county conducting workshops for teachers that help them integrate music with core subject areas. And I'm increrdibly proud of him......You see, he's my brother.

  • @donaldames082142 This is the best arrangement of Amazing Grace I have ever heard. Please thank your brother for me for providing the world such beautiful choral music. I WILL teach my choir this piece someday.

  • I'd love to see the '01-'02 recording!! it would definitely bring back memories! :)

  • i would love for my concert choir to perform this. it's so good. ohmygod. i love it.

  • Where can I buy a recording of this arrangement ? !

  • Amazing Grace how sweet the sound. Lets save the wretch like me...

I once was lost but now I'm found.

Was blind but now I see.......

*But it puts a smile on my face (:

  • it makes me sad that one would dislike this beautiful song

  • I could listen to this a million times. The most beautiful thing I have ever heard.

  • This song is to all those who fought FOR the right cause, FOR the right people and never gave up till their dying breath.

  • To the WCC freshman class of 2001-2002 (the first to perform this song) I have a recording of it! Danny had a video camera on chapel choir tour. I just need to figure out how to the the DVD to youtube

  • I wondered if this was under James Jordan. I sang Carmina with him, an absolutely wonderful conductor & teacher. He lives in my community.

This arrangement is an astounding piece of work. I have sung it and have watched both my sons sing it. If I'm not mistaken, this arrangement was done by a high school teacher.

  • @Jercarp55 Good job, that is Dr. Jordan up there. You can't see him clearly, but that's certainly him.

  • I remember being in this performance as a sophomore. This is a beautiful work.

  • i sand this arrangement with the ohio all state choir under the direction of the same guy directing this here...we were better...lol...but seriously...our girls didnt scoop...to hear a recording of us, go to i tunes...its on there...:)

  • that chord at 3:01 was awesome. The dissonance at 6:32....AMAZING. Great dynamics! Air energy was superb. The decrescendo at the end was excellent! Can't wait until you guys come down to Freedom High!

  • that chord at 3:01 was awesome. The dissonance at 6:32....AMAZING. Great dynamics! Air energy was superb. Can't wait until you guys come down to Freedom High!

  • ABSOLUTELY STUNNING.. cried my eyes out to be fair.

  • beautiful. just beautiful. give chills

  • I also preformed this with the OMEA allstate that ThEaTrEiSLiFe93 took part in. And I agree with their statements about Dr. Jordan. He is hands down the greatest and most brilliant director that I have ever had the privilege of singing under. Not only great in his musical methods, but also great in his inspirational ways. He inspired me to potentially pursue music education at Westminster. I was a hair away from committing until I changed my mind last second.

  • Get a grip.

All you postees have got too much time on your hands

  • James Jordan is of God, a phenomenal choral conductor. ThEaTrEiSLiFe93 has it right. He is a joy to hear.

  • that. was. beautiful. i dont know how to explain the beauty of this its just so...so...

  • Absolutely amazing.. That's all I can say

  • Wow.... words can't describe how beautiful this is

  • Is the soloist Katie Matheson? Way to go!

  • According to hanicile, it is.

  • I absolutely love the fact that you can hear the birds chirping in the background. I don't know why, but it just sounds perfect.

  • same!!

  • Magnificent! Bravo to Roger Ames for this wonderful arrangement. Bravissimi to all of the choristers. Great diction, phrasing, and balance. You were obviously all well trained. Had a lump in my throat throughout! Where is your school?

  • It's Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ.

  • @malracraze Im going there this fall!

  • Belíssimo arranjo de música tão inspiradora

  • i love that you can hear the birds chirping right at the final chord :) it was so amazing singing this..def one of the best pieces i've sang in choir

  • I miss singing this. I still tear up when I hear it.

  • Arranged/composed by Roger Ames for the Westminster Chapel Choir (2002); the piece is dedicated to the children of the victims of 9/11

  • I still remember when he came to an open rehearsal and re-wrote the entire introduction and changed a couple of the bass parts. This peace was beautiful with the Kyrie. I still can't figure out the "Abraham & Isaac".

  • who did this arrangement??

  • wow just beautiful... i literally teared up ="]

  • I just love this arrangement and am so grateful to the person who introduced it to us. (CB - thank you so much!!)

  • very great arrangement . . .nice . . .

  • how could the seats EVER be empty!

  • They must be from heaven. They sound beautiful....gets me choked up

  • Aaaahhhh... me too ...somewhere around 6:42 it becomes otherworldly... takes my breath away...like something one would hear upon entering heaven! Incredible.

  • oh my goodnes... I listen to this everyday. It's my dream school! I wanna go so bad. the Honors chorus for IMEA this year got to work with the current conductor, Dr. Joe Miller and he was absolutely amazing. Also, Westminster came to my school and sang some of their songs from the concert and one of them was A Boy and a Girl by Eric Whitacre and it was absolutely stunning.

The soprano soloist from 6:11-6:45 takes my breath away, SO AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
