Gentleman, that was history PIA was using Fokkers for Islamabad-Gilgit and some other short routes. These Fokkers met with accidents. Gilgit Airport is in valley of 8000 Meter high mountains. Only small aircrafts can land there. There is no accident of jet aircrafts, even PIA is operating Airbuses on Islamabad/UK/NYC routes. PIA has team of great pilots.

It was right decision by the pilot. First aproach was misguided by Landing Gear lights. They did not take any risk and in the end made a very nice and smooth landing. Pakistani Pilots are know for their landing throughout the world whic is the most difficult part in flying.

The pilot did just what I would have done when ATC asked the reason. "Will advice you later". ATC often gets curious but its a very, very low priority for us pilots to tell ATC what is happening. ATC can't fix your gear and you are busy grabbing checklists, etc.

This is a normal procedure and I dont think that the PIA Pilots are the best in the world...but it was a good landing...

whatever, PIA Pilots are one of the best in the world, not just the comercial pilots but the Pakistan Air Force pilots are also world renouned creating world records in shooting down Indian, Israeli and Soviet fighters. U need to read ur history boy, Paki pilots shot down several Israeli Air Force planes during the 1967 Arab-Israeli 'Six-Day' War. Paki Air Force Pilot is also know for shooting down 5 Indian Air Force fighters in less than a minute. I agree today, Israeli Air Force may have the advantage of the most modern military equipment from the US and Europe, but Paki Pilots are one of the best in the world. Sadly they just don't have the many modern jets today, thanks to their corrupt government.
