Oh and yes - that's 'Pull out the pin' behind you, which is one of her more terrifying but marvellous songs. She HAS recorded some highly challenging stuff. There are some songs even I wouldn't play in the street, in case they frightened the horses.
Sometimes I look at a map of England for hours tryiing to make sense of them all thinking, "I do speak English I should be able to do this." Delightful comments, cheers.
Dammit, ran out of characters before I ran out of opinions, again! I think I am seriously obsessed ...
Anyway, as I was saying - I would also point people at 'Mrs Bartolozzi', which is difficult, but worth the effort. As for 'A coral room' - I am still thinking about that. And as always, the music and the musicians are wonderful, particularly on her later albums.
Can't wait for the predicted new material that might come out this year.
I like the first disc on Aerial. I always play the two in order. Mrs. B and A Coarl Room are lyric gems. People are too accustomed to "baby I want to hump you" songs to understand what's really good.
A new record From Kate is coming out? That's just awesome news. I even be happy with cover songs. Kate does great covers. It would be good to have something other than bootlegs of that.
@AugustusLarch Yep, I insist on LPs/CDs being played in order, or not at all - much as I like Spotify and YouTube, I know that musicians have reasons for their playing order. (Check out my son's band Alpines on MySpace - album later this year.) I can't believe KB's new material will be covers. But it may be that she doesn't have enough for an album - it may be an EP. Boy, I can't wait. It's like Christmas.
You didn't understand. I didn't confirm that the new Kate Bush album would be covers. I just said I would like that. I liked the Tori Amos covers album. You were the first one to tell me about new KB recordings.
@AugustusLarch Ah, I see! Oh well, as Kate could sing the phone book and make it interesting, (I reject all suggestions that that's what she did on Pi!), that could be good, too. Anything short of 'My Way'!
But then, with the right arrangement ..... no, no, that way madness lies.
Hi Augustus - just recenly, at the age of 57, I have become equally enamoured again of Kate. Obviously as someone in the UK I knew her early work and liked the obvious hits, but I never listened to the more challenging tracks on her albums. I was lured away by heavy metal ... what a mistake. Kate is a genius. Your video is great, and you have nailed the high points.
"How to be invisible" is a track I play over and over.
Don't sell yourself short. Some heavy metal is quite intricate and progressive. Kate Bush has a depth the metal artists envy but to never achive. How to be invisible is a great track. If you have bid enoungh speaker cabinents that song can propagate an orgone energy field. Carefull now.
@AugustusLarch As they say; 'LOL!'. Ah. a Wilhelm Reich reference! And yes, I still sneak back to heavy metal ... nothing like 'When the levee breaks' to make you forget the gas bill .....
I actually find The Dreaming to be her masterpiece...well they all are lol. But I think Dreaming was very under appreciated by critics. Bah! What do they know? :)
Agreed, no loyalty tests. I need to find a proper ley line intersection for a shine evoking the ethereal influence of Kate Bush to the elemental beings of the surrounding area. I will create an enchanted preserve in honor of Kate Bush.
Oh, and another thing: I find it so amazing that she writes and composes all her own music. And she has integrity in her work - she does it how she wants it to be done, and won't let anyone else get in the way of that. Plus she's drop dead GORGEOUS, and reputedly a very sweet lady. She's like an angel. But I've waffled on enough for now :)
Kate is my goddess too :) Her music is so brilliant and evocative - both the lyrics and the music itself. No other artist has ever been able to bring out so much emotion from within me. Only Kate. She writes about such deep things, in a way that isn't the least bit saccharine or subjective. She wrote The Man With the Child in His Eyes when she was 13! There's a difference between a "singer" and an "artist", and Kate is definitely an artist. She is my muse, and yes, a true goddess.
Kate Bush was recently described in UNCUT magazine in the UK (great 11 page article) as being someone who "should be more treasured in this country (the UK) than The Beatles"
She was my first crush as a boy and her music transcends anything else I've ever listened to. Beautiful, intelligent, a musical and lyrical genius!
I wish I was her publisher. She is the premire metaphysisist of our times. She has a line on the universal solultion of existance. She metes such knowledge out at a rate we regular humans can understand.
Kate is the gatekeeper that orders the general entropy of being.
I still have her fan club magazines from when I was a member in the 1980's. And a sheet music book of her songs that I still play on the piano. The sign of great songs is that they never get old...Kate's don't. "Breathe" is prophetic and eerie in this world of extreme air pollution -- I should know, I live in Los Angeles. Does anyone know anything about her little boy, who the father is, etc.?
@shicana Well for one thing, correct spelling is a good thing, and so is getting the song titles right - the song is called "Breathing", not "Breathe".
Kate deserves that.
It can relate to air pollution, but it was originally about nuclear fallout. As for her son, his name is Bertie and her guitarist, Danny McIntosh, is the father. There's a song for him on Aerial. He also speaks on the track "Prelude", and there are pictures of him in the album's booklet.
Dude...you officially rock my world. Kate Bush is amazing. Jesus...she's up there...She WILL be studied in music theory books in the years to come. She has left such a legacy.
As for Aerial...wow. In the mornings, when I do my mediation/prayer, I play the track "Aerial." It simply channels through EVERYTHING. I think Kate has serious connections up there.
Just stumbled upon your video and glad someone is talking about the genius that is Kate. Sorry to nitpick but she she discovered at 14 which makes her even more amazing. "The Kick Inside" has no fairlight. :P
I might be David Gilmour's younger doppleganger. The original guy is pretty magical. That could be the reason that I am un-fufilled in my present indentity. (jk)

I can completely relate. I've been listening to Kate since 1979, and I can't stop, don't want to stop. Extraordinary talent, and my favorite, THE DREAMING! "Their wings beat and bleed!" "I thought I caught a glimpse of a god all shiny and bright!" Brilliant. Thanks.

I bought four of her albums yesterday. I think her music just gets better as time goes by, and considering what she produced to begin with, WOW - unbelievable. Aerial blew me away. I`ve been over-dosing on Kate Bush now for over a week. When i was a kid an my mum an dad were having a drink late at night the old boy would be playing the Beatles, Dylan, leanard cohen, Neil young, Joni Mitchell and Kate. I was supposed to be sleeping but the music was too good.
You are fortunate to be exposed to the good culture early. I had to fight toot hand nail for a right to my culture. I live in the midst of rednecks. I work on them every day. Kate Bush is very good direction.
She so is.. Kate is a Goddess I have loved her since the release of Wuthering Heights.. I was 11 years old I am now 42 and my admiration for her has never changed, my home is a shrine to her.. so is my body with Kate tattoos... I LOVE her.
She's my goddess too. Perfection. I remember seeing her on TV in 1978 and since then she's been part of my life.

Ok, try this one - Leicester. Or how about Kircudbright. Most Brits can do the first one, but most would be challenged by the second!
