@laserpointerskills08 So just because I don't support the idea of a FORCED DRAFT makes me a "lazy hypocrite"? First of all, WOMEN shouldn't be drafted to BEGIN with.... It's a dumb myth. Just because our laws are based on others laws, does NOT mean that their laws carry over. If it is NOT written in our law books, it's NOT law.
Read JURISDICTIONARY! Even start shouting, "fictitious stawman," but stop it with the yellow fringe, it will get you in trouble, and get you laughed at by any reasonable thinking judge,
guess you were right on that one :3 i stand corrected.... but still i have turned around tickets by following the guide that told me that. one time i filed a suit against a police oficer for filing me a ticket. this got my social security, food stamp privledges, and abality to go to public shcools taken away yet i still got 500grand from that suit :) now most cops know my name and they just give me warnings ^ ^ (i trade marked my name btw)
The only time that they will a draft is if the enemy landed on US soil, The vet era was the last of the draft for they found vol units did a hell of lot better while the drafted units did real bad and the vetcon knew that, I belive only thow willing to fight should go in, and it seem that the military is running 100%+ of new recruites every month and and top at that there getting the best of the best of talent
there are some people from upper middle class and upper class in the military. My best friend went into the navy, made it into the special forces, fought in Kosovo spent the last 4 years as a contractor in Iraq. Now he wants to be a contracter in Afganistan. Its weird. He comes from upper middle class maybe upper class. But he gets bored when there is no action
ya Military isn't going to be drafting lol war is becoming advanced hell every 1 that goes into the U.S military must know things like Algebra, and shit like that. called the ASVAB test.
Wow, who the fuck are these douche-bags? I'll be damned if I'd ever fight for the 'elite' scum that think they control this planet. They continue to use the youth to fight for their agendas, meanwhile they sit in their mansions and reap the benefits and collect massive profits from engineered wars. Anyone who complies with a draft is a tool of the elite, and are being USED for some old fart's gain!
You say you are against a draft because you refuse to be a tool of the elite, but do you not realize that if there were a draft, the military wouldn't be a tool of the elite, because everyone would be a part of it.
Oh, of course. I'm sure it would be much more open minded of me if I supported the idea of forcing people to fight in a war even thought it's a clear violation of the constitution. The government doesn't own us. They shouldn't be able force us to fight and die for them.
I think you're a hypocrite because you live in the US reaping whatever benefits might come our way, whine about unconstitutional wars, but don't leave. Sitting around whining about things won't change JACK SHIT; you need to actually DO something to make a statement. Against a foreign policy of the US? Shut up and leave, and stop paying taxes, you two faced gutless hypocrite.
The idea of a draft is so logical it's ridiculous. If America stands for anything, everyone should have to contribute.
America stands for freedom. If everyone had to "contribute" like they do in authoritarian countries it would defeat the purpose don't you think?
Since when does leaving the country solve problems? Why are you making so many assumptions about me? I think you're gay because you hang out in the showers at the YMCA even though you didn't work out at all.
If America stands for freedom, then why do we have to pay taxes? Everyone already has to contribute, and no one questions that and says it's an infringement on freedom, and if people think that the political system actually means something they should be willing to walk the walk that could be entailed by such a system.
My point about protesting a war is essentially that it means nothing, because you do support the war machine through taxes and retaining American residency.
Actually, I think there are a few people who question taxes and say that they are an infringment on freedom. If the government forces you to give up money that you worked for, how is that any different from involuntary servitude?
If everyone stopped paying taxes because they were against the war, what would stop the government from printing money to fund it? Whether you protest legally or protest in a way that could get you arrested, there's still a chance that the government will ignore you.
My point about the taxes is that saying that America stands for freedom is inaccurate; America stands for a particular kind of freedom, stemming from philosophy about social contracts.
Look, my point is just that people's convictions are not actually as strong as they would have you believe. Sure, they care enough about a war to take a weekend to go march around the capital for a few hours, but they aren't actually willing to DO anything. They are still a part of the problem, not solution.
I don't know what you expect people to do. Would you be happy with the anti war people if they attempted to violently overthrow the government? Not everyone has the resources to do that. The government is pretty powerful. They do have the military you know. It seems like trying to convince people so they go vote for better politicians might be slightly more effective, especially since it won't get you shot.
Hypocrites are on both sides. It seems very wrong for people in America, for or against a particular war, to sit around and talk philosophically about the war, but not be willing to either risk their own life in it (draft), or stop supporting the government making the war (protesters), while they receive whatever benefits war might bring to their country. It also seems to undermine the value of life by creating a class of people to do all the risk (non-draft military) for monetary reward.
A military draft should happen ONLY if the state itself is in danger of being destroyed or conquered by another country. Drafts must be an ABSOLUTE last resort for any country in danger of being taken over.
Any other case is unnecessary, a generation killer, and a sign that a country is turning to a police state.
As you said, the draft should only be put in place if we are in danger of some sort of ground based invasion. Suddenly training a mass amount of regular citizens to become these elite trained operatives is completely out of the question. To think that you can send citizens that are trained in a matter of 4 months to a country on the otherside of the world and get anything done is a great mistake.
It's just like chess. You can't send a pawn to do a knight's job.
If we were really facing a foreign invasion the citizens wouldnt just sit there and take it. Meaning the draft is just a way to override public disapproval of a war *cough* Vietnam *cough*.
Only if we were desprete I would agree. Like the movie red dawn (made in the 1980s). If you don't agree well sorry for you. For being a coward that is.
The arguments against the draft were absolutely god awful. Only one argument is sufficient. Since the enlightenment era, the West has had a notion of something called "personal sovereignty".
You can beat any draft. Just fail the physical they have. "Cant hear, see, or move right. Also suicidal ideas will get U rejected. Dont go to war, you will be SORRY!
Lmao I'll remember that. Reminds me of what george carlin said. Called in for jury duty and wonna get out of it? Tell'em the truth! You can spot the guilty JUST by looking at them!! lol
i agree..fck the draft...I do believe that the military is only for people that want to serve, and not being FORCED TO SERVE...i was in the army at one time, and I am GLAD I am out...If someone made me go over there and fight, I would not do anything I was told because I am not there on my own will...So to the ones who wanna enforce a draft "GO FCK YOURSELF"..
leave the military to real military personal...people who want, love and enjoy the job and go at it with the right attitude and professionalism to begin with. forcing people into something they don´t want just pisses them off more .. and all the screaming and yelling and the getting up early won´t help, trust me! I know! ;-)
ya im sure a lot of people rather do the mandatory prison sentence then go into the military. Where that person might not be completely set for anything that might happen.
f*ck the draft!I´m not going to war, just because politicans tell me to! freedom is the right to choose my path in life. democracy is letting people choose for themselves!we have a draft in germany (military or civil service) and 95% of us, who went to the army, just went to shoot some guns and drive tanks for the first/last time in their life and drink beer for 10 months. but looking back we all know it was a waste of time.every military needs SOLDIERS,but not everyone is made for that!
That guy on the far right can go put a tarpedo up his ass. Send him over first.
This country aint gonna have no dam draft. Where we gonna get the money from? We can't even afford to buy paper towels for the soldiers we got now.
And where we gonna get the money from also to build the extra jail space that we'll need when just about everybody wises up and says that they arent gonna risk their life for some ignorant politican(s)
The guy in favor of the draft is a dean of students? I wonder how much military service he has completed? He sure hasn't done squat in service to the nation being a Dean. The Schools in the US have been in serious decline for decades, and he's been riding that gravy train. What a hypocrite.
Isn't it interesting that the liberals were against the draft in the 1960's/70's. But now that they control both the Presidency and the Congress, they are all for it. But then the people who protested the draft in the past are too old to be drafted and they are the ones supporting the draft now.
When is Steinberg joining? Kaplan is right, you will have a two tier military, on top you have the military leaders, on the bottom you have.....Cannon Fodder.
I think the draft is a good idea, with conditions. First, no exemptions. No school deferments, no politicians kids ducking out. Second, no choices for jobs, take the ASVAB and go do what it says you qualify for, we don't need a person who cannot boil water trying to be a cook, or a person is too dumb to use a screw driver flying a helicopter.
I am very proud of my service in the military. Like everyone else, I volunteered to serve, and I have no regrets. I would do again if I could; but the man who comes and tells me I don't have the right to choose my own path in life, will die on doorstep. I'll be proud of boys if they decide to serve, but by God, if anyone tries to take that choice away from them, there will be blood.
All of the men in my family volunteered for past foreign wars, except me. If the courts ruled against the bill of rights and God's law back then, they wouldn't have joined.
Politicians in Washington today are very worried about a violent revolution in this country. They should be, as they've been robbing and lying to the people for years. Inside sources tell us the real purpose of this civilian military force is to contain internal uprisings. These federal street thugs will be armed with short-barrel machine guns and put in our cities to carry out
"drills" on street corners and in private neighborhoods. Their purpose is to threaten and intimidate civilians.
Drafts don't work. You end up with hard working and patriotic Americans like me getting into firefights with police who are trying to arrest me for dodging the draft or, end up A.W.O.L. after killing some fuckwit who tried to kill me for disobeying his lousy orders in the middle of bumfuck nowhere half way around the world on some baloney mission to liberate oil wells for politicians who don't give a shit about me! The only draft the military should have is beer in their chow halls.
you first steinberg! and after you're drafted you definitely wont be seen slouching in that fucking chair again. if the draft was reinstated there would be mass emigration from this country. much of the populous is finally beginning to wake up to the fact that the US has become a hypocritical, corrupt empire on the brink of fascism.. inevitably destined for failure without revolution-like change.
id rather fight and die, going against the draft, then to be a pawn in a politicians war game. -The military will not be elite anymore, even tho i question how leet we are today, it could be a lot worse. - a draft will spark rebellion, riots and mass desertion. in the end, we should just bring the troops home and save lives and money, And mind our own damn business!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It's a good point that with a draft, the military wouldn't be so "elite" because joining the military would be a requirement.
But i also think a draft is necessary to instill dicipline into the youth. Many get lazy and go on to be drug addicts. This country started going downwards when we took out the draft. We need to instill common sence and dicipline into americans, so that they can go on to live worthy lives.
This is a little different than a military draft, this ends the separation of military and civilian governments, that means the end of posse comitatus. If you are truly conservative then you would see how this is not right, discipline is a resposibility of the PARENTS not the STATE, this is not conservative, this is a neo-liberal scam to etch out our democracy so our new Communistic government will be complete. The founding fathers are simply rolling in their graves.
And a worthy life would be what according to you? That statement is completely relative to the individual person, what you view as worthy may be viewed as absolutely horrendous by another.
By the way, there was a draft in Vietnam and the country went to absolute hell, so where is the jam in your donut for that logic?
A draft is the most tyrannical policy ever. It totally destroys individual liberty. I would rather be in another 1000 iraq-style wars before i would believe in a draft.
notice that the "register for selective service" ads have been increasing lately. heard one today about a kid that shows up to date a girl and the father slams that door in his face because he is 19 and hasn't registered. when the daughter asks her father who was at the door, he replies "someone you don't want to know!"
Let he who wishes to be deceived be deceived John 8:32 the truth shall make you free
Levitical UCC-Universal Commercial Code Governments are a Babylonian tithe/tax system of tickets to a Priest President Lord Judge Lawyer Cop MI666 Officer We apply/beg for licenses permits & become an employee/mark of the beast
A UCC "officer" is a gentleman & never lies under Admiralty Law, since countries operate in bankruptcy "Citizens" are always guilty-For all have sinned
Kaplan is so full of shit. The truth is, as long as the elite (rich bastards) children aren't at risk, this country will always succumb to the temptation to indulge in ill considered wars for profit. Put Chad Richerfeller and Buffy Trustfundington in marine greens and see how quickly we head into the next "Iraq".
mm.. "universal national service".. sounds so good~
Socialism: Freedom's Worst Enemy '08
Steinberg can go shove his mandatory government service up his ass. Anyone who would go to "Lyndon B. Johnson's School of Public Affairs" is a crazy fool.
Lyndon B. Johnson is the president who signed off on the Gulf of Toinkin so that we could get support for a draft during the Vietnam War. What a man to praise for domestic policy!
dude if you want to steal, kill, molest kids, deal in drugs, own lots of sex slaves and be rich forever join the military. It's not even illegal and you'll get awards.
The people of a free country should never be forced to serve. They should only volunteer to serve if they agree with what the gov. is doing. Forcing people to fight in illegal wars will only lead to armed revolution.
You are right stone1home but they are not yet being threatend with imprisonment if they do not join up. That is what a draft would do. You would have no choice. Show up for service or go to jail. Also, the rich kids would still not get drafted. They always find ways to keep the rich and influential families out of war.
You are tight about the rich- they have done and will always do pretty much whatever they want. But more of Middle America would stand up against illegal wars if their kids might get drafted.
every member of the military I know say they hate the idea of a draft since they would rather serve with people who have not been forced into this place.
yes we need competent people to protect us, yes, may be we need universal draft..but above all we need peace!let us all be driven for world peace...

But he gets bored when there is no action

realdeal119 2 years ago
Wow, who the fuck are these douche-bags? I'll be damned if I'd ever fight for the 'elite' scum that think they control this planet. They continue to use the youth to fight for their agendas, meanwhile they sit in their mansions and reap the benefits and collect massive profits from engineered wars. Anyone who complies with a draft is a tool of the elite, and are being USED for some old fart's gain!
Mclendon89 2 years ago
You say you are against a draft because you refuse to be a tool of the elite, but do you not realize that if there were a draft, the military wouldn't be a tool of the elite, because everyone would be a part of it.
superdog797 2 years ago
Oh, of course. I'm sure it would be much more open minded of me if I supported the idea of forcing people to fight in a war even thought it's a clear violation of the constitution. The government doesn't own us. They shouldn't be able force us to fight and die for them.
ab1tchslap 2 years ago 3
It seems like you would have to be a complete asshole to support the idea of a draft.
ab1tchslap 2 years ago 6
I think you're a hypocrite because you live in the US reaping whatever benefits might come our way, whine about unconstitutional wars, but don't leave. Sitting around whining about things won't change JACK SHIT; you need to actually DO something to make a statement. Against a foreign policy of the US? Shut up and leave, and stop paying taxes, you two faced gutless hypocrite.
The idea of a draft is so logical it's ridiculous. If America stands for anything, everyone should have to contribute.
superdog797 2 years ago
America stands for freedom. If everyone had to "contribute" like they do in authoritarian countries it would defeat the purpose don't you think?
Since when does leaving the country solve problems? Why are you making so many assumptions about me? I think you're gay because you hang out in the showers at the YMCA even though you didn't work out at all.
ab1tchslap 2 years ago
If America stands for freedom, then why do we have to pay taxes? Everyone already has to contribute, and no one questions that and says it's an infringement on freedom, and if people think that the political system actually means something they should be willing to walk the walk that could be entailed by such a system.
My point about protesting a war is essentially that it means nothing, because you do support the war machine through taxes and retaining American residency.
superdog797 2 years ago
Actually, I think there are a few people who question taxes and say that they are an infringment on freedom. If the government forces you to give up money that you worked for, how is that any different from involuntary servitude?
If everyone stopped paying taxes because they were against the war, what would stop the government from printing money to fund it? Whether you protest legally or protest in a way that could get you arrested, there's still a chance that the government will ignore you.
ab1tchslap 2 years ago
My point about the taxes is that saying that America stands for freedom is inaccurate; America stands for a particular kind of freedom, stemming from philosophy about social contracts.
Look, my point is just that people's convictions are not actually as strong as they would have you believe. Sure, they care enough about a war to take a weekend to go march around the capital for a few hours, but they aren't actually willing to DO anything. They are still a part of the problem, not solution.
superdog797 2 years ago
I don't know what you expect people to do. Would you be happy with the anti war people if they attempted to violently overthrow the government? Not everyone has the resources to do that. The government is pretty powerful. They do have the military you know. It seems like trying to convince people so they go vote for better politicians might be slightly more effective, especially since it won't get you shot.
ab1tchslap 2 years ago
Hypocrites are on both sides. It seems very wrong for people in America, for or against a particular war, to sit around and talk philosophically about the war, but not be willing to either risk their own life in it (draft), or stop supporting the government making the war (protesters), while they receive whatever benefits war might bring to their country. It also seems to undermine the value of life by creating a class of people to do all the risk (non-draft military) for monetary reward.
superdog797 2 years ago
A military draft should happen ONLY if the state itself is in danger of being destroyed or conquered by another country. Drafts must be an ABSOLUTE last resort for any country in danger of being taken over.
Any other case is unnecessary, a generation killer, and a sign that a country is turning to a police state.
Idude893 2 years ago
As you said, the draft should only be put in place if we are in danger of some sort of ground based invasion. Suddenly training a mass amount of regular citizens to become these elite trained operatives is completely out of the question. To think that you can send citizens that are trained in a matter of 4 months to a country on the otherside of the world and get anything done is a great mistake.
It's just like chess. You can't send a pawn to do a knight's job.
Crusherxt 2 years ago
If we were really facing a foreign invasion the citizens wouldnt just sit there and take it. Meaning the draft is just a way to override public disapproval of a war *cough* Vietnam *cough*.

f*ck the draft!I´m not going to war, just because politicans tell me to! freedom is the right to choose my path in life. democracy is letting people choose for themselves!we have a draft in germany (military or civil service) and 95% of us, who went to the army, just went to shoot some guns and drive tanks for the first/last time in their life and drink beer for 10 months. but looking back we all know it was a waste of time.every military needs SOLDIERS,but not everyone is made for that!
Cold157 3 years ago 2
That guy on the far right can go put a tarpedo up his ass. Send him over first.
This country aint gonna have no dam draft. Where we gonna get the money from? We can't even afford to buy paper towels for the soldiers we got now.
And where we gonna get the money from also to build the extra jail space that we'll need when just about everybody wises up and says that they arent gonna risk their life for some ignorant politican(s)

Isn't it interesting that the liberals were against the draft in the 1960's/70's. But now that they control both the Presidency and the Congress, they are all for it. But then the people who protested the draft in the past are too old to be drafted and they are the ones supporting the draft now.

BaronVonNewport 3 years ago
I am very proud of my service in the military. Like everyone else, I volunteered to serve, and I have no regrets. I would do again if I could; but the man who comes and tells me I don't have the right to choose my own path in life, will die on doorstep. I'll be proud of boys if they decide to serve, but by God, if anyone tries to take that choice away from them, there will be blood.

OldBenFranklin 3 years ago

Conservative77 3 years ago
This is a little different than a military draft, this ends the separation of military and civilian governments, that means the end of posse comitatus. If you are truly conservative then you would see how this is not right, discipline is a resposibility of the PARENTS not the STATE, this is not conservative, this is a neo-liberal scam to etch out our democracy so our new Communistic government will be complete. The founding fathers are simply rolling in their graves.
rudedude423 3 years ago 3
And a worthy life would be what according to you? That statement is completely relative to the individual person, what you view as worthy may be viewed as absolutely horrendous by another.
By the way, there was a draft in Vietnam and the country went to absolute hell, so where is the jam in your donut for that logic?

You are right stone1home but they are not yet being threatend with imprisonment if they do not join up. That is what a draft would do. You would have no choice. Show up for service or go to jail. Also, the rich kids would still not get drafted. They always find ways to keep the rich and influential families out of war.
