@MarquisGemini You can part of the Klingon faction (though that doesn't mean playing the Klingon species), but they're not actually evil, just a rougher culture. And yes the game is damned linear. There are a lot of side things to do, but the main story missions are very very linear. It's one of the main complaints about the game.

@capoteo96 I was wrong about them improving it. We don't know when, but all the changes for F2P look fucking horrible. I don't recommend anyone play this now, but maybe you'll like it.
Ahh so this finally going to be f2p. I hope it doesn't also turn into "pay to win". I tried this when it first came out and was put off entirely by the ground combat, it felt like elite force gone wrong. If there is just a space playthrough version coming then I'll definitely have a go at this.

It took the 'vastness' feel away from it. I wanted to explore and get lost in space.
@Hellsconsort while they haven't changed how big sector space is, they changed the way it looks, and it made a huge difference in the feel. look up on youtube "sector space revamp pt.II" by dpeters911. If you don't know how it was changed, your jaw may drop.

This game is deep, and has a lot of different areas of advancement, including crew management, diplomacy system, etc. At its heart, this game is an RPG in very sexy clothing. What you aren't seeing here is everything else in the game. It's like looking through a peephole onto a busy street in LA and seeing a bunch of hobos and drug dealers, then assuming the whole city is like that.
@velveetaslingshot The game -is- combat heavy, but most fans feel the backstory adequately explains why. That said, it has all the things I mentioned above, and an even deeper crew management system should be released in the next couple months. It also has regular content updates in the way of Featured Episode Series, which are released 1 week at a time, 5 weeks in a row, that revolve around different aspects of Trek.
@adrius There was one involving the Breen and the Preservers, another with the Devidians, and another regarding the Schism between the Romulans and Remans following the destruction of Romlus. They should be releasing new ones soon, and they want to release them almost constantly for the foreseeable future. The game is constantly improving and becoming more and more like the shows all the time, but you need to remember: the needs of an effective game are different than those of a TV show.
@tomblord12 It's a variant, it uses pieces from all three of the Promethus variants. Prometheus saucer, upper secondary hull, and pylons, Cerberus lower hull, and Phoenix Nacelles with Type 2 (or 3?) windows and Type 4 hull material. Mine isn't set up for MVAM, this was before that was released.
@tomblord12 Also, check out my other videos. I have a newer one where this same ship is set up with beam arrays as opposed to cannons. Since the Prometheus variants are classified as an Escort (like the Defiant) it can mount cannons. That is the most common arrangement but beams work fine too, just a different playstyle.
@adrius Im playing the demo just now, but feel the controls little confusing... mostly when using a space ship, and the moves are not so smoth as galaxies ...but the character creation and the general overview is really positive.
@LordZhatan Well you can customize your controls.. and remember, in Galaxies, you are flying fighters and small ships. These are starships that dwarf skyscrapers, so most of them are pretty sluggish by comparison. If you buy the game, at level 10, you can start using escorts, which is what I'm using in the video.

@Ozolz It's normal. Keep in mind, even with beams, it's still an escort, which have the best turning rates of all Starfleet ships. Science Vessels turn more slowly, and Cruisers turn even more slowly. The KDF (Klingon Faction) has both the best and worst turning ships in the game however, with Birds of Prey turning even more quickly than Escorts, and Carriers taking over a minute to do a 360* turn.
@Ozolz You start with minimal weapons at low levels and as you level up, you get better ships with more weapons slots. This is an escort, meaning it can mount cannons. The Defiant class from DS9 is also an escort, and also shot tons and tons of guns on the show. For a video with a more traditional Trek weapons layout, click the annotation link for the Duo, both ships in that video are using beam setups.

I pre-ordered this and played it on release. It got boring very quickly, but I've been asking around, and rumours are that it's improved a lot since release. I'm quite desperate to get back in-game. The only thing that put me off was ground combat. The space combat is freaking epic.
@LoneRising Ground combat will be receiving a significant improvement in Season 4. They know it sucks and they're putting a lot of work into it. Hopefully it pans out.
@ChexGuy331 don't expect the ground combat changes for at least 3 months. Season 3 just now came out, and it's slated for season 4. It was for 3, but they delayed it to make sure it was done right. We know so far they are merging some weapon types, making both you and the enemy die faster, and letting us have the option of aiming with a reticle.

Nice ship, I use the Cerberus version of the Adv. I pretty much use the same weapon setup as you, but I run with phaser based weapons instead, I like having the chance to knock out random subsystems.

I saw game time cards for this game at work the other day, and thought it was a joke. It actually looks pretty awesome though. Are those other ships players or NPC's? @Je3go Those are NPCs, but the PvP in this game is very cool. The game has quite a lot of people playing, and since its a serverless game, everyone plays together (the game instances itself to deal with load).

@megamanfan3 No. Storywise, the system was phased out because of parts that were too easily damaged. There's a chance they will introduce it at a later date, but its kind of impractical as far as gameplay goes.
Damn that is a lot of fire power and it looks like you have a Prometheus-class ship but it is a bit different looking but a fine ship especially with the anti-proton weapons some serious firepower you have there.

I just got this game for my birth day havent instolled it yet people who gave it to me didn't read 30 day thing and was wandering before I do is it only online or can it be played off line vsing npc becouse I'd rather not keep paying just to go online and only play it there.

Nice ship, I use the Cerberus version of the Adv. I pretty much use the same weapon setup as you, but I run with phaser based weapons instead, I like having the chance to knock out random subsystems.

@Hyroyan98 Probably not. Unlike Champions Online it's actually a complete game and has a lot of players. Cryptic has little reason to make it free.

hey.. i just started playin this but my graphics look nothing like this. i play guild wars and wow and the graphics are flawless... but on sto my ship is just a grey sqaure :o( . any tips on the settings to get best views

Hi I'm an EVE player getting bored but how does the ship unlockign system work for this game. I read somewhere that you spend poitsn for ships and you get it but im not sure. How long does it take to rank up?

I saw game time cards for this game at work the other day, and thought it was a joke. It actually looks pretty awesome though. Are those other ships players or NPC's? Are there quite a few people that play the game? It'll take alot to get me off WoW, but I'm looking for something to cure the addiction. xD

@Je3go Those are NPCs, but the PvP in this game is very cool. The game has quite a lot of people playing, and since its a serverless game, everyone plays together (the game instances itself to deal with load).

Hey, I just downloaded the demo, loved it and wanna play a lot more, retail, idk though, do i need to buy the game at the store? Or is the demo version all i need cause far as i can tell my account is only restricted, but all the content seems to be there, so heres what im wondering, can i just upgrade my account from the demo to full mode and play the game without buying retail from the store?

@megamanfan3 No. Storywise, the system was phased out because of parts that were too easily damaged. There's a chance they will introduce it at a later date, but its kind of impractical as far as gameplay goes.

Damn that is a lot of fire power and it looks like you have a Prometheus-class ship but it is a bit different looking but a fine ship especially with the anti-proton weapons some serious firepower you have there.
