Saw these guy in Vancouver in early 92'.Awesome freakin' show.My drunk ass ended up talking Frank Starr's ear off for a while.I told him they were going to be huge. They would have except for some unfortunate circumstances.RIP Frankie, you had one helluva set of pipes! Long live the FOUR HORSEMAN!!
The funny thing is, I had a memory that there was a band that I really liked, and I had lost them. I stumbled across this song and realized this was that band.
@cheapcape At least they don't sing about smoking weed and getting caught by high school teachers for smoking a cigarette in the toilet of school, or about "all a dem bitches" they bone, by wich they mean they watch porn everyday. These guys just have lives, they do what they want to do, and make MUSIC, they don't tell about their regular sundaymorning, they sing about real stuff, and they sing. So now go cry in the corner, asshole.
Hey Dave. If you ever want to play again, as the 4 Horsemen, call me (250)357-2525 We have met several times, when Frank & Kevin were still alive. I did lights4U at many venues in Vancouver BC. My voice is very similar to Frankie Stars & I know all the lyrics.I also write music & lyrics. You are a wicked guitar player & should keep the band alive. Spilling a drop of beer for Frank & Dimwit our absent friends!
Yup this band ended too soon, like many. I have all their stuff, good old rock'in music. If you like it, check out Airbourne, the Four Horsemen of today ;-)
@beckleybrewhouse airbourne will never be the Four Horsemen..they are an AC/DC wannabe band at best..although the lead singer could probably pull it off
@OtisDriftwoody Really? I'm from Belgium and have the "Nobody said it was easy" album almost 20 years now and found "Getting pretty good at barely getting by" after years searching on ebay, from a German. I am more a metal man but this rocks a whole lot of headbangers to, old school headbangers, But they are indeed Top, I don't play music but have some friends in bands, from blues to metal, and they all want to buy the cd's, but those are sacred to me and not for sale, never
i drove to south america in 96 from canada, and listened to this album about 56 times at least, always wondered what happened to them...! great driving music
I still wear my Four Horsemen "Known by Many, Loved by NONE" tour shirt. Go find one of those!! TFH Ruled, Rick Rubin produced the 1st album, sucks the lead singer died on his Harley on Sunset Strip!!
Dimwit on the drums! He was with legendary punk group DOA when I saw them in Portland, Maine in 1986. I bought the album "Let's Wreck The Party" from them and got the whole band to sign it. Dimwit drew 2 crossed drumsticks and wrote "The Good, The Bad and Me. Great fucking drummer!
I have all 3 of their CDsTheir first one had 4 songs on it-Welfare Boogie,Shelly, Highschool Rock n Roller and Hard Lovin Man.I would think an original is rare to find.Their 2nd CD ABSOULUTLY FUCKIN ROCKS from start to finish.GUITAR ROCK at its finest. One of the most under-rated and unappreciated bands ever.If you like this music check out a band on MY SPACE from Calgary called STAMPEDE QUEEN-A Night at the Cock Fights. Its more gut-wrenching,whiskey-drinking rock n roll.Rock In Peace Frank n Ken
this is badass and i'm lucky to have found out about these guys--singer's got pipes, kinda like mellencamp with more balls--too bad about the timing--two years earlier and they would have hit the jackpot--regardless true rock n' roll never dies.
@plymouthdodgewrecks Don't think I have video but I know I have audio - might have to make something just so I can post. Gimme time to try and hook you up
Was in college and didn't go see them b/c had a test the next day. The worst mistake I ever made and still regret 20 years later. They should have been big time and will always be in my book.
I remember when this album came out, I thought they sounded like a cross between The Black Crowes and Junkyard, but nowadays I like em a whole lot better but the CD is hard to get for under 20 bucks. shoulda kept it. Good Music.
Grunge robbed us of more great music by this band. This was just great raw rock.Their second album was a bit more polished, which I didn't care for.Yet,it wasn't as pretentious as above said grunge =P
Actually it isn't. Just the band and engineer Brendan O'Brien. The clappping and cheering at the end is Slayer. (They were making Seasons in the Abyss next door.) Only guest backing vocals on the album were Ian Astbury on Rockin' is ma Business. (You can hear it really clearly if you listen.)
Jeez...the song ended, and now I'm hearing "My Tired Wings"....not sure if that was the order on the album, or just the order I used to listen to them cranked all the way up at 3 AM on Saturday nights....I do know me & my rottweiler used to play our version of soccer/hockey to this song in the living room...broke many a lamp that way....

Ahhh...Edmonton 1992, rode hard then, love this band. Just read about Frank I wondered why they didn't have anything else. Great Vids, Thanx for the memories.
I am devastated and am writing this through my tears. Frank and I grew up together and I knew him more than most. we had gone our separate ways years ago but we never forgot each other. i still have a picture of him at my sweet 16. i heard something happened to him but never quite knew what. can someone please tell me where he is at please I would be most grateful. Thank you!
"In November of 1995, while riding his motorcycle down Sunset Strip, Frank Starr is involved in an accident that proves fatal. A woman, apparently drunk, pulls her car out in front of Starr. With no time to avoid her car, the resulting collision reputedly sends him flying some distance and though Starr was a known hot rodder and liked to ride throwing caution to the wind, he did happen to have a helmet on....
It couldn't have helped much as he suffered massive head trauma leaving him comatose for the next four years. In the end, eventually coming out of the coma, Frank was left on life support with virtually no motor skills, unable to walk or talk. He passes away on June 18th 1999." -Very sad... He is greatly missed.
holy crap-thanks for posting the video. still play both cds. saw them play in grand rapids, mi supporting the first release. unreal. all 12 songs on the debut are killer. love the followup to "rockin is ma business" on the 2nd disc.

Music videos are bullshit anyway..
As soon as we got MTV it wasn't just enough for a band to have a great sound, they had to be look good & be actors & dancers as well..
