@xXBurntBaconXx Yeah i was looking that up and found that its coming in 2013. I saw that there were 2 types one with 188hp, 320lb.-ft and another with 237hp, 410lb. ft but i don't know which is coming to North America
They've been unibody since 93. So what's new? Too bad they got rid of the solid axle up front. They lost tons of articulation and in a couple of years it'll be painful to change all those cv boots and joints, not to mention all the bushings.
Grand Cherokee rocks! Forget about those wimpy Wranglers, JGC is the real deal, it does it all. Riding in a Wrangler is like riding in a stage coach. It's your grandfather's Jeep. You want to go off-road, take a Grand Cherokee!
I just purchased the 2010 grand cherokee 4x4. I love it. I have only had jeep my entire life. My first one was a 94 jeep wrangler, then 03 grand cherokee (I6 engine) and now a Hemi. Great SUV for price and performance. The only complain I have is the interior is a bit tighter, but it makes up for in performance, and quite enviorment.
Though this is a capable vehicle, can someone please tell me when Jeep is going to do what Ford did in ditching their chain-driven transfer cases for tougher, gear-driven models?
@Chryslersucks1 funny enough, jeep recalled the pentastar today as some have debris in the engine from manufacturing.they're offering free engine replacement.675 so far.
Thought I'd let everyone know we had to pull one if these out of some mud today because the cars front bumper scooped up the mud and stoped it dead but we had on trouble in our range rover tdv8 shows how shit the jeep is
Jeep try to make a luxury off road car but they can't get the balance of on road and off road ability right but the range rover can so that's why we bought a range rover tdv8
Too bad when i bought one i was so damn disappointed at it. When i went off road the air suspension went BOOM and a warning light came on the dash saying air suspension failure T.T So then i came back to the dealer and said no i dont want it anymore so they gave my money back and got myself a 2011 range rover :D and it didnt disappointed at all versus the crapkee
It looks nice. I'm just not sold on american cars. I'm a honda man. I've only had toyotas and hondas. I got 375,000 iles out of my toyota, and I've got 484,000 on my honda civic. I just dont know of any amreican cars capable of that.
My uncle's Chevy Silverado has over 500K miles on it. My 1989 Ford Bronco had 350k on it before I sold it...im sure its still going. Many old ZJ Grand Cherokees are still on the road with similar miles.
No offense to you tbursee but it seems like you've been brainwashed to believe the USA can't build great cars.
Oh and one other thing... Guess you havent recent checked reliability reports... Ford and Chevy are beginning to kick Honda and Toyotas ass!
@JasnoGT Well that may be , but as they say at the bottom of the diet commercials" Results Not Typical". The average owner of those cars dont have such luck. I know mechanics at the Honda place who tell me its nothing for Honda's to come for an oil change with 350,00 on the dash , after burning cheap oil , and regular gas. I know a guy with a 94' accord with a million miles on it . Same motor and trans.
funny how jeep tells us don't go over rocks without skid plates.well as this jeep has 20" wheels and no tow hooks , it means it's not trail rated and should not be going over rocks ha ha.
BEST TRUCK IN THE MARKET! IW OULD DEF BUY A GRAND CHEROKEE IF I HAD A CHOICE WITH ANY SUV!! i sure as fuck AINT CHOOSE A GAY 2011 EXPLORER! THOSE ARE GARBAGE!! ford tries to Hard!
@scotsmaninusa The Overland 4x2 starts at around $39K which is what this piece accurately states. Options do add up quickly as they do in any vehicle.
@scotsmaninusa Just want to make clear that nowhere in this piece do I say the loaded Overland costs "$35 grand they're telling you here" as is in your post (re-read your own original post). I appreciate everyone keeping things accurate.
Those of you who mourn the fact that this isn't the same as a 99 Jeep GC should move into the new millenium. I've got news for you...the Wrangler isn't the same as the original Willy's Jeep either. Each generation improves on the one before and, yes, it does also move it to an ever changing market. Take your 10 year old Jeep GC off road and over the rocks. In 10 years you might own a 2011 Jeep GC and be off roading it whilst complaining that the latest 2021 Jeep GC isn't as good as the 2011.
they can keep it! i'll keep my 99 with solid front and rear axles and venerable torquey 4.0 inline six!!! Best engine Jeep ever made hands down.Got 206,000 and you can't even hear it run.Too much luxury not enough utility! notice no roof rack! Its a dealer installed option
"This SUV handles like a sports car." -- Makes me think they've never driven a sports car. I don't care if Ferrari built this thing... an SUV will never handle like a "sports car". They probably only drive "sports cars" with quotes around them.
So much dissapointed with newer tendencies that Jeep recently has.... Those are not "The JEEPS" anymore, the way we are used to them and the reason we love them for.....
The fact that in most of the countries arround the world jeep is not a brand name anymore, its like name for any 4x4 car....
Newer market demands to have such computers on wheels. Thank god wrangler stayes the same!
When you get old enough to drive and can buy your own jeep, get back to me.
For mcarthurwallace: I had the 4.7 as well. My engine didn't mess up but that is the only thing that didn't fall apart. I got rid of mine at 42k miles so i probably avoided the engine mishap that has plagued so many others.
Mine was a piece of crap. Constant break downs, horrible gas mileage, tires eating off in chunks, transmission shifting like it was kicking you in the ass, electric doors, lights and windows failing every week, sensors going bad every month and it even got stuck on the beach where my Subaru travels with ease! Chrysler sucks! Believe me, this one will be an overhyped over priced piece of crap just like it's predecessors.
@MrStrman Did yours have the 4.7l v8? Well my durango had it as did almost all cherokees and mine had a build of sludge and bent the rods and tore apart my engine. It wasn't from me not servicing it because I always did. Do a consumer report. Thousands of other people had the same exact problem. Chrysler wouldn't recall it because they're making too much money off of 6,000 engines
sooo sick. deff gunna look into buying a 2011 loaded overland in a couple years when the price is a lil more student friendly or i am making more money.
Love the styling, like the powertrains, questioning the move to airride...as far as long term durability, airride is really not the way to go. But I've seen even the basic versions of this at dealerships and even then I'm very surprised.
@DJTEVAdotCOM Be fair. If youre looking for a green car youre not looking for a vehicle with OFF road capability. If you want economy you'd stick to your Scion XB, Nissan Cube, street only type vehicle.
i have a 96 jeep grand cherokee never had problems and i still drive it to school so i caint wait till this jeep comes out so i can get my hands on it!!!
@Pupsflusen I own a ZJ jeep grand cherokee from 96 and I still drive it today like its brand new and i'm damn sure these new jeeps will be just as good off road as my ZJ is.
Jeep has always been legendary in it's 4X4 capability. This year, they have sent the Grand Cherokee to the top again with the addition of the Selectrac system and Quadralift suspension. I do believe this is going to be one of the best selling Grand Cherokees in history.
I heard they are getting a 3.0L Diesel in this. if that's true, This is pretty much the perfect vehicle.
