Yes I'd say Roddick has probably had all the chances he's gonna get now. Personally, I really can't see him winning another major now, he's too far behind, and been around long enough, and he's picking up more injuries now. I think the lad's not really gonna do much more.

the problem with roddick, isnt his game (probably his backhand isnt to good, but doesnt matter, he had been in 5 grand slam finals with that backhand), the problem is simply ROGER FEDERER, whos a person that doesnt have weakness. Federer beat Roddick in every final they had, and the moment that i think destroyed roddicks carrer is wimbledon 2009 final against federer. But every player had those moments (ex: agassi when he loosed against sampras in us open 95). But is still not over yet, cmon rod

This Roddick wasn't near his best but he played a decent match, his intensity kept him in for quite a while but it was one of those matches where it never looked like it hung in the balance.

i still think federer's 06 season is overall greater than djokovic's current 11 season, winning 3 grand slams, only 4 masters but also getting the year end master cup undefeated, winning around 12-13 titles and ending with a 92-5 record, but 2011 is still not over yet so we'll see

@glarencez Well, you could even argue that 2004, 2005 AND 2006 Federer seasons were better than Djokovic's 2011. Federer won (like you said, 92 matches and lost only 5 in 2006), was 81-4 in 2005 and 74-6 in 2004. In 2004-2007 he was virtually unbeatable on faster surfaces. 2004: 3 slams (3 finals), 2005: 2 slams (2 finals), 2006: 3 slams (4 finals), 2007: 3 slams (4 finals), 2008: 1 slam (3 finals), 2009: 2 slams (4 finals). Fed had 41 match win streak 41, 35 and 26 of his career (i think).

@glarencez Djokovic doesn't look good physically this winter. He lost to Kei Nishikori because of an injured shoulder, which is clearly a carry over from the summer.  I doubt he'll win the year end masters.

well the thing is, Roddicks forehand has some more power. But now his forehand is just not his weapon no more. Federer have so many and i mean many options. Short ball? winner? or drop shot? roddick doesn't have that many precision and the only reason he was lucky is because he got that lucky net cords.

When Andy Roddick was under the tutelage of Brad Gilbert or Jimmy Connors, he played his game, which was BIG serve, BIG forehand....It worked for him.....It very nearly won him Wimbledon in 04 because he was outhitting Roger, and to be honest it is the only way he can contend with him, but he's lost that now, which is why he will forever be the 1 slam wonder who lost his chance at being a multi-slam winner and perhaps a hall of famer....

Where is this energy from Roddick anymore? I thought overall he played some great tennis under Jimmy Connors. He showed great aggression, powerful serving and netplay. I think he was unlucky between 2006-2008. Federer dealt him three bad slam defeats at the U.S twice and Aus open once, in between he lost bad upsets but overall though I thought he looked good. Stefanki seemed to get one great year out of him playing a more nuanced, relaxed style, but it's not working now. Roddick is too passive.

@bpatrice49 Roddick's problem has always been that he doesn't think well on the court. He runs around his backhand a lot leaving the court open and as a result losing the point. He does this often on his approach shots and he keeps getting burned. His backhand weakness gets exploited a lot by the better players such as Federer, and he has never been comfortable at the net though he has improved.

@bpatrice49 I agree, roddick played well under jimmy connor´s, especially at the net, but larry stefanki doesn´t want a-rod to play passive, on the contrary, he said he want´s roddick, to attack a lot more..maybe it´s just a confidence thing, with roddick, to attack more..murray can be quite defensive at times and other times he attacks more..I think, that both roddick and murray know, they have to attack more, I think it´s just a matter of them making the effort to be agressive..

@extradutyfelt1 Interesting comments. The thing about Stefanki is that he tried to turn him into a strange hybird of a player. He's patience and cautious like a claycourter, and happily sits back waiting for errors, yet it intersperses this with sudden explosions of pace/power. I think if he plays well under Stefanki everyone says 'oh this is how he should always play'. Bottomline Tennis is one seriously hard sport to be consistent at. I just hope Andy can have a good run at the AUS open 2012

@bpatrice49 I hope so to, I want to see andy in another grand slam final..people say andy is a pusher, but he´s very consistent from the back and if he´s forcing unforced error´s, from who ever he´s playing, that get´s him through quite a few matches, I think, the problem is, when he comes up agains´t great shotmaker´s, then he has to play agressive, otherwise, winner´s are just going to blow by him..

@bpatrice49 his game as a younger guy was so explosive and energetic, remember he's thirty this year. True that Connors tried to get him finishing points early with big serves and a volley or big forehands in the hope that he could continue playing like that in the long run, but roddick's shoulder must be so worn out these days, I mean the guy doesn't serve anywhere near as big as he used to unlike the younger guys, Milos Raonic is pretty much becoming what Roddick was back in 2001-2006.
