There really needs to be a film that focuses primarily on his work in the liberation struggle. People always get so caught up in his involvement and divergence with the Nation that they gloss over his ideas and actions. Hardly anyone I encounter knows about half the things collected in "Malcolm X Speaks."
Mankind! We created you from a male and female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you might come to know each other. The noblest among you in God's sight is that one of you who best performs his duty. God is All-Knowing, All-Aware. (The Qur'an , 49:13)
prophet muhammed says people are all equal as the teeth on a comb.
that scene from 1:14-1:50 is one of the greatest rhetorical blocks I have ever heard, what James Shabazz said to the reporter when he said Malcolm had 'backtracked' that is one of my favorite quotes to listen to, period.
Why would the Nation of Islam be so hostile to a man who embodies and stands for the truth that Islam itself so represents? Why kill your own kind??????.........
@poohlu there was no "he wanted to BE the leader" the people made him their leader. leaders are chosen, if the people didnt want malcolm he would have been dismissed. the NOI wanted control....and thats why the NOI is laughed at today all it took was for real islam to be shown the light.
@poohlu FUCK OFF, wat Malcolm wanted was CHANGE!!!!!!!! look at Malcolm's legacy and Elijah Muhammed, Elijah the so-called "honorable" has no great speeches, quotes or books. Just a damn fraud wolf in sheep's clothing, who wore funny looking hats!
@GurlCaa no fuck you and yo momma malcolm wasnt about change Elijah was about change establishing a nation. Malcolm was about that same ole negro spiritual foolishnes in the end .legacy, who do you think is going to have the biggest legacy in america , the man who said death to the devil or cant we all just get along like Martin ,and again bitch fuck dont curse me whore. Malcolm the Black panthers hip hop the five percenters Farakhan tupac are all Elijahs legacy . fuck you dumbass
@poohlu k, so if u hate Malcolm so much, why u watching his videos. Go join NOI den, ur ass will get shot up and betrayed too. Malcolm was to good for them hating-ass,pretentious negroes!!
@GurlCaa I AINT SAY I HATE THAT MAN . NO THE CHANGE YOU TALK ABOUT IS NOT MALCOLMS LEGACY ITS JUST NOT. WHERE DID HE GET THE X FROM, YES HE SPOKE WELL LITTLE GIRL BUT WHO GAVE HIM THE WORDS TO SPEAK I KNOW YOU CAN COMPREHEND THAT . HE WAS ELIJAHS SPOKESMAN HE DIDNT HAVE THE MESSAGE,HE WAS JUST A SPEAKER BUT HE SWITCHED . GHETTOS WEAK MEN AND EASY WOMEN ARE MALCOLMS LEGACY ALONG WITH ALL THE INTERGRATIONISTS.PEACE THOUGH I DONT WANT TO TALK BACK
Great Man - A real legend. He put his life on the line for the sake of his peoples freedom and Human rights. The influence Islam played in the struggle for freedom 1400 years ago and in the modern era is paramount and is what its all about - Peace and Justice for all mankind. Possibly the main reason they had to pull to the plug is because he was a great speaker and was a muslim. A shame as we lost the only real leader of the 21st century that truly stood for something great and Inspiring. RIP
it was wrong in the first place to call Elijaah, the messanger of Allah. He cannot be...he can only be an Imam or leader. But his polygamy, if proven, disqualifies him automatically. The guideline on this is clear and simple. And I dont see why it could even be argued at that time....may be the Whites that time had less idea about that. And Blacks were suppressed and away from self-studying Islam and only following blindly their leaders. Allah knows better....
Brothers, Islam was brought upon us to eliminate the differences, be it racial or social....it is, therefore unfounded to say that it may be a political tool for a particular group of people. Brother faith in Allah and Islam is entirely and solely your own, No Arab or wheoever can take it away. Whereas everything earthly including NIO and all, is not yours it can be broken and taken away, even your wealth and children. So, it faith in the End..rock solid faith..
NO. Selassie was afraid to meet Malcolm X because he was being financed by American aid at the time . He didnt mind meeting the British Royal family though, or other racist white people in the West.
Then with the understanding that its more of a culture thing rather then a religious thing..It must be safe to say,,that Islam was not formulated with the blackman in mind? Would it be safe to say that Islam is just another political tool that is being used just like other European religions to dominate the earth and to mentaly and physicaly inslave the indiginous people of the earth? Is it true that if a population of people become Muslms..Arabs claim the right to the land?
It is clear to me that Malcolm X was practicing true spiritual Islam, nothing based on the color of your skin. Elijah Mohammed brought attention to Islam in the US because very few people if any new about it. Elijah used that ignorance of the religion against the very people he was trying to empower by making it seem as if he was the last prophet and that couldn't be further from the truth. He wanted to make money by saying he was empowering black people. But when the money shifted to Malcolm..
...we saw the true intentions of Elijah Mohammed and the "Nation". It was all about protecting Elijah's image to keep the people believing in him so they can surrender their money for his cause and that was it. If this were not the case then why were people more familiar with Malcolm then with Elijah? And why did the Nation not address the truth of Elijah's fornication and indiscretions? They were posing as moral leaders but Malcolm lifted the veil and like roaches the "Nation" scattered to...
...protect their leaders image while also destroying Malcolm's image. To me that is a disgrace in itself and as a black man, I understand why the "Nation" did what they did. It's the same reason most of us blacks fight each other. Power, money, comfort, how else could the "Nation" survive if the truth was exposed? All they did after that was uphold the lies until the accusations died down. They could have dismissed Malcolm and moved on but they needed to kill him because as long as Malcolm lived
...the truth would have lived with him along with his own power and influence which would have eventually shifted to him and the Muslim Mosque Inc. making the "Nation" look bad because of exposing the truth about Elijah. We as blacks always do this. We hide behind the truth and create images to make people believe the image in order to deceive them. I once as a youth considered joining the "Nation". Now that I see the light, the "Nation" to me is nothing more than a respected, organized cult.
the fact is that ideology and practice are often two different phenomena. for example, the tenets of the christian religion are very egalitarian and salutary. however, the so-called christians themselves interpreted their religion in such a way as to allow for slavery and a rapacious focus on the accumulation of wealth. this is antithetical to the teachings of jesus (isa), who stated: "it is easier for a camel to pass thru the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven."
also, isa said that the commandments of god are encapsulated in these two tenets: "love the lord thy god with all thy heart, mind, and strength and love thy neighbor as thy self." of course, when we truly live by these two statements we are inclined to submit to the will of almighty god unflinchingly and we certainly will not seek to enslave or in any way exploit our fellow man.
similarly, there are many muslims who are white supremacist in mentality and who truly do not practice the salutary and egalitarian precepts of allah ta'ala as taught to us by our beloved nabi, the prophet muhammad (saw). such people are munafik (hypocrites) and fassiq (sinners).
There really needs to be a film that focuses primarily on his work in the liberation struggle. People always get so caught up in his involvement and divergence with the Nation that they gloss over his ideas and actions. Hardly anyone I encounter knows about half the things collected in "Malcolm X Speaks."
