Ironically, in the current that is carrying the oil into the Atlantic, the current will carry the oil all the way up to about Washington, DC.

Ya know whats sad? The oil companies have the technology to produce rechargable battery cars that are faster than oil burning cars, but are far less profitable. Fuel efficient cars still burn oil. But, the oil companies just will not use it until the oil is gone.

Before you jump all over the electric train consider these aspects of electric autos: Batteries = Highly poisionous to both humans and environment, what happens in a wreck etc. Where do you get the recharge? Oil or coal produced electricity is the majority so.. small victory. Tough to recharge on side of road. Costly to manufacture due to battery cost. The list goes on...

I know Bp's contanment dome failed. What i want to know is did it stop the flow of oil. I think stopping the oil is whats important now.Then Bp can drill a new well to extract the oil and also release pressure on the containment dome. Pretty weak design.I would have made the box a lot wider and in two sections. the First section would be only 2 sidewalls, the second would be the remaining two walls and the roof. Once the first section is properly placed over the leak, the second section could be lowered into position and arc welded into place by the robot submersibles. Since both section are open during the decent, ice would not have the chance to accumulate on the sidewalls since water would be flowing between both sections.
