This was my first Android phone. It was great when I first got it. Horrible battery life though. I only had it for 6 months. After a while it got laggy and I wasn't able to delete text messages and such and the phone was just plain beat down and worn out (after 6 months, believe that?) I then went to a BlackBerry (to my horror) and then went to the HTC Evo and haven't looked back. Great phone for a first time Android user though. I kind of miss it looking back now lol :)

I have the phone right now and its super slow on texting. It freezes all the time and has a horrible battery life. And I don't even use the phone that much since its slow so I don't know why it dies so quickly.@SoccerPlayerDestiny

My brother needs a new phone and I was thinking about getting him this for xmas. The Evo and the Epic4g are a little too pricey, and he's in the middle of a contract so I have to buy it off CG.

Just wondering:

Can this run Android 2.2?

Is the screen any good? He has the Samsung Moment right now and uses the slide out keyboard, but if the screen on the Hero sucks then he might not like typing on a screen.

The sprint HTC hero was a great phone when it first came out but now it just sucks, IMO. Especially since the 2.1 update my hero has lagged, forced closed, and froze up so many times. Most of the time when I only have 2-3 programs running it is still a bit slow. The touch screen is OK but I have been so used to a keyboard from previous phones it hard to adjust. Half of the programs and apps I never use anyway, I really need a different phone lol.

See, this phone doesn't even have an 800mhz processor it has like a 600 mhz processor OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. so if you are typing really fast it wont recognize your thumbs cuz you are going to fast. I'd rather you get the EVO 4G since it wont lag on you or just wait for the HTC Knight that is supposed to be coming out soon. Don't get this phone its over a year old now ii think..

Oh god no DON'T GET THIS PHONE.

Even before the update the texting is slow as balls and it will take a few seconds to load all of text you just typed.

You can download music on it though.

I like the Hero. I can make the battery last a few days. On Heavy use on the first and medium on the second then its pretty much dead. But Task killer apps do help if you dont use them every minute and ignore some apps that run and like to turn itself on but after that use the Task killer app every few hours and your good. But i really do like the Hero! Just wish it had more ram... haha

You should be able to turn off the HTC Sense. Just go into settings: Applications, click menu: filter: all, scroll down to HTC Sense and click. Then click clear defaults and force stop. After that is done, you can hit the home button and it should ask you if you want to use HTC Sense or Home. I'm not fully sure if it'll work on this phone, but I was able to do it on the HTC Droid Incredible.

I've had this phone since April and I'm soooooooooo sorry I ever got it. It's been nothing but trouble. Nothing works like it's supposed to more than half the time. And if I'd known in advance that I couldn't do software upgrades on a MAC, I sure as hell wouldn't have bought the piece of crap. Android has nothing over iPhone.

Ok guys i need some help.... I'm getting a new phone from sprint and i currently have the Instinct. I'm looking for either the Hero or the Pre but i can't decide. I heard the browser on the HTC is alot slower than the Pre. My sister is getting the evo which im not allow to get because the $10 4G.
