  • Sounds more like Nils Lofgren to me

  • Neil Young is better than you. Probably.

  • @charadeyouareha probably. LOL

  • That lady might be laughing at Nelly's small penis.

  • Best of DECADE!! Love this old man!!

  • Check out Great cover og Old Laughing Lady by Sean Allingham in front of the house Neil Young grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada!

  • still in love with this song after lo these many years.

  • Ich mag das.. hat was magisches und authentisches

  • @MrMonkeyman91 I'm sorry...what???

  • The way that Young sings this song, I imagine the odl laughing lady is a FIrst Nations Person in the painted desert.

  • I really love Neil Young & grew up with his music, However Kelly Jones version is Superb!!

  • This version is just stuning, my favourite.

This song is really amazing, it's very funny to notice that Neil can play this song very differently from a version to another.

For exemple if you compare the album version with woman vocals at the end at this one, you don't have the feeling to ear the same song...strange I never saw this ability to transform a song from another singer.

  • ignorence is bliss, time is telling, life is a journey, help yourself. how your life your lived is what matters

  • Every so often I need a Neil Young "The Old Laughing Lady" fix, and this version does the trick. As soon as I saw and heard it I knew it was an instant classic.

  • Any body who thinks the original version of this song is over produced should just stick to listining to there justin beaber records, as much as NY rocks and as mellow as he can B this song is soufull if u havent heard it people its a must like no other NY song that U have heard its on his 1st solo record (NeilYoung) "o hi o hi" along with the tiffany drums are the best part of the song over produced my ass its F--- GREAT

  • @Ayame1324

Honestly almost all of Neils "acoustic" records are over produced. Take Harvest for example...great songs, but TERRIBLE VERSIONS OF THEM. I can't even listen to the those versions of the songs without cringing at how overproduced they are. His acoustic material is at it's best when he plays it solo. I can see people not getting what's so great about Neils music just listening to the records...you have to listen to the songs solo to get to the real soul of them.

  • Yeah I like this more than Unplugged but just merely like this. I know everyone who didn't know all that much of Neil Young and heard this Unplugged thinks he's so great then but really Unplugged was nothing special for a guy with Neil's talent .. the most talented songwriter ever.. better than his good friend Bob Dylan even as Neil wrote 14 more great songs than Bob. Yeah I counted and was kind to Bob.

  • I loved Neil's eponymous and first album but not this song all the much .. a little to overproduced .. but this minimalistic version is good less the background singers repeating "o hi o" too loud and too often. I forget the Unplugged version.

  • Neil Young at his best!!!!

  • i knew this song from his unplugged album and this version is SO different, it's almost like two different songs... which are both great!

  • @WizardofFuzz This is in double drop D. The Unplugged version is in standard tuning.

  • @88hanimart88 tahnk you dear Annie! you are such a thoughtful person!

Thanks for sharing this beautiful song!

  • thank u for uploading this, what a song. at the end of heart of gold when he plays it in the empty hall.. amazing. mr young is a legend

  • I think this was recorded from the end of his Prairie Wind performance on Palladia.

  • Original Version is on the Neil Young self-titled album of 1969 .

  • I love this song, it's very very beautiful

  • There is a DVD cuz Jonathan Demme directed it. The performance is at the Grand Ole Opry and amongst the guests is Emmylou Harris. Pegi sings as well as many other of his typical resources. I think you can buy the DVD but if not, boost it off the internet. I've seen it and it's fantastic.

  • @Mayrienn yeh its the last song on the heart of gold dvd just him in a empty hall it rocks

  • The best version of this song is on the sugar mountain album.

  • Very different from the album version. It is more like Pardon My Heart from Zuma (which was yet to come) in the shell. Anyone agree?

  • Great! Much better...

  • Awesome, thanks pauricdevro

  • its definatley neil young its from his prarie wind tour

  • @pauricdevro Yes it is, I have the DVD, this is it. Best version I've ever heard. Loved how they put it at the end, just him in the empty Ryman, playing Hank's guitar. Awesome!

  • Is this for real? The guitar is beautiful, but the voice isn't really Neil, is it? It's like almost Neil, but not quite.... but then again, he does have several variations of his voice... I'm hoping it's Neil because the guitar part is simply mesmerizing...

  • @onemegofmemory

This is off the DVD Heart of Gold, by far the best work he has done!!!!
