re: 41:00 or so (ref to Stockholm), in my humble opinion, Dr. Sadoway deserves a nobel in education for his efforts. I'd also humbly acknowledge Dr. Diamond of Berkeley/Columbia etc, and Dr. Lewin from M.I.T. in similar fashion. Thanks to all of the teachers near and far who so adeptly use YouTube to help us study the sciences and arts. I like to call it UTube :)
@hypercarbon crystals form at different nucleation sites within the macrostructure of the crystal you can see with your eyes. There are many different types of defects, but a grain boundary defect is where a two lattices that started growing adjacent to one another meet each other with different orientations. it would be like making two cubes out of legos next to each other but with one on its side. When they meet, they will not be able to bond together well at all. (not at all in that case)
I love this guy's handwriting. I don't understand anything that's being taught (what with passing high school chemistry with the lowest possible B-), but damn. That's some languid penmanship.
Wow, I'm in AP World and my teacher does not really teach us -- as a college class, and I have to admit, It's pretty hard to pace yourself when no one is constantly over you -- at least in 10th grade.

I'm a senior chemist at uni and in my opinion this lecture is pretty boring. His voice is somewhat monotone and i don't find his lecturing style very enthusiastic at all. I'd much rather any of my lectures, there it feels like the lecturer talking is a field marshall.

Why are they still using blackboards? Whiteboards are the future; plus they don't send shivers down peoples spines....
veyblu7 2 years ago
maybe they are trying to retain the traditions.
after all some of the scientists in the WWII work in the same lab before using the same board.

Kind of defeats the point of the lecture with the SEE LECTURE NOTES over the details he goes over. Even if it was copyrighted, just claim fair use.
