@RenegadeOfSociety actually, were awesome because of our endurance. Humans are capable of chasing an antelope until it overheats and collapses. We may not be the best sprinters, but we are efficient long distance runners. So after that Compsognathus tired out, we still be jogging.
so hang on, let's get this straight, how did they manage to get all the animals together to have a race? i mean, wouldnt the t-rex wana eat the turkeys at the start line? im just confused you know, i was surprised that there were so many sponsors, and the track was so wide as well!! i mean like in metres! this has got to be a fav youtube video.
Actually the winner was a dinosaur called Compsognathus, which was approximately the size of a chicken. The other dinosaurs simulated were Velociraptor, Dilophosaurus (the spitter from Jurassic Park), Allosaurus (a carnivore) and of course Tyrannosaurus. The researchers only did two-legged dinosaurs, so no brontosaurs. And, as you correctly mention, the ostrich and emu, which both do rather well. Michael Marshall, online editorial assistant
are you stupid? when it means the most detailed, it means the most detailed statistics. All this shows is which runs the fastest due to its skeleton structure.
The human runs slower because of the structure required to contain a child within them. The dinosaurs and their bird buddies lay eggs and thus can have a more adept structure for running.
it means nothing to the viewer because the 'human' figure appears to be running in slo-mo. how are you supposed to get any idea of comparison from that?
a smart human would have ran the police who would ring the military who would send tanks in to blow the dinasours up... or the human would ride the emu
Academia tries to advance our collective knowledge and understanding in as many fields as possible. If this particular item doesn't interest you, that's fair enough, but the sarcasm...?
Science isn't just for your stereotype. Just because you dont seem to grasp the concept of learning, doesnt mean you should ruin it for everyone else.
I wouldnt consider myself to be "smart" but i enjoy many different aspects of science. Particle physics ftw heh heh
A more accurate simulation would include a homo sapien with technological enhancements (techno-sapien), in which case, we'd be in bikes, motorcycles, cars, in jet airplanes and space-rockets.
That is the real speed of humans today. We are not the slowest but the fastest animal alive today.
If that simulation were more realistic, we'd break the hell out of the sound barrier and leave all those late cousins of ours depicted in that simulation, in the dust.
IMHO, it is not a real comparison of current human beings....but it was sure fun to watch :-)
Yeah, but that kinda defeats the object of the simulation. I'd guess that this is to show how fast we think (because we can't really be sure of anyhting to do with dinosaurs) a human and an ostrich can run compared to 5 different species of dinosaur. Run, not travel.

zucoy21z89 4 years ago
To answer everyones querys, the animal that won was a bird. Either prehistoric of modern, I dont know.
The ostritch was in second place. The emu in third.
The forth place was a small dinosaur, then 5th another dinosaur, then the 6th was a T-Rex. The next was a brontasaurous, then the human came in last.
Just a guess, but pretty sure thats right.
