This was recorded on open-reel video by somebody from Brum Uni or similar. The kit was ahem, state of the art at the time. The big problem here is the lighting - there ain't enough of it for the camera tube!
Saw this lineup a couple of times, once at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, which was fantastic. The year before, saw Sandy solo twice in a fortnight at small gigs in London. The Howff gig has gone down as Sandy's best gig ever, I agree, I was at the table nearest to the stage!
@phil31047 Wow Phil, I love hearing from people who saw Sandy live! I would give anything to have seen her just once. You were very lucky! What do you remember most about Sandy? She was the best!!!!!!!!
Hi Amy! I can't remember where I originally found it, but the footage is from Birmingham 1974. That whole Fairport concert was filmed by an amateur. A full performance from that concert of Sandy singing "Solo" at piano is on the 1987 Fairport documentary "It All Comes Round Again". I have the entire Birmingham bootleg concert on DVD but it's in horrible quality. Really unwatchable;-( Supposedly Dave Pegg own the master tape and I wish he'd release it so we could see it!!
When Dave Pegg was asked about this he said he didn't own the master, only a copy. The original seems to have disappeared. Sad, 'cos footage of Sandy is rare as hen's teeth.
Aww, I was hoping Peggy owned it! ;-( The DVD copy I have is not watchable. Even a slight quality upgrade would thrill me to death. Sandy footage is so rare that when I do see it it's magical to me. I cherish it. Guess it was meant to be that way:-) Still, I always hope that lost video will be found someday. I would die to see interview footage of Sandy too. There has got to be some show that recorded her back in the 70's!!!

Pity that there is not much more. Aparantly more camara's were used, so it seems more then an amateur movie... taken from tv?
