@dwyer70905 "Dwyer Happy New Year"...And might I add, Yet another controversial outcome to a fight in 2011, 2011 was boxing's version of a soap-opera, If you ask me, Taylor wold have still won the fight, however that is irrelevant, Nicklow was still lucid enough to continue, I cant wait to hear your thoughts on Danny Garcia Vs. El Terrible.
Good video dwyer. I've had the same talk many times about the Khan McCloskey fight. So frustrating when people say "it wouldn't have mattered, khan won every round" not the point at all, strategy matters!
Yup...The referee robbed us of seeing Jermaine Taylor KO Nicklow in a dominating fashion...
Nicklow got robbed of taking more punishment because JT wasnt rattled by any of Nicklow's punches. You make a Good point with this video, but Nicklow was getting the beatdown.
i agree with you dwyer....the referee was doing a fine job until the end, when his timing was horrible...no reason to stop it until a man is defenseless or taking too much unecessary punishment....it seems that is one of the most difficult aspects of reffing a fight, since it is often the sore point after a fight, early stoppages, or sometimes letting a guy take too much punishment..in my opinion steve smoger is the best at jumping in only at the right time...
stoppage was fine. it was a total one sided fight and Nicklow was bleeding from his nose since a long time. he had no chance to win, so I dont have a problem with that stoppage
These referees must be briefed as what the acceptable amount of punishment a boxer can take on a certain night. Someone has to pay for repairs that can be very costly in this day and age. Shannon Briggs would have fought twice in the fifteen months since losing to VK if he hadn't taken such a brutal beating. Can you imagine getting $45,000 in bills from the clinics and specialists months after your last and years before your next boxing match? Taylor was scoring very good and he has a following.
i highly doubt he would of been able to do any thing at all but still i agree that it was a terrible stoppage worst stoppage i've seen in a long long time
I fucking hate it when favourites get easy pay days through inept refereeing in stopping fights early. I've seen so many fights like this in the past year. This video is spot on.
Great video, the stoppage was corrupt. Hell, with a ref like that Shane Mosley would have had a 2nd rd tko over Floyd.
I doubt Jesse would have been able to win late anyway but that stoppage was horrible, and no one wants to watch fights like this. That ref should be in the WWE!
Jessie neither had the punch skill set or size to be competitive the referee took these factors into account . Bad stoppage? sure . But Dwyer surely your not asking for the commission to overturn a decision that a referee they trusted to do a job and put a no contest on JT's record when Taylor only did what he was suppose to . And as for Jessie having a strategy is ridiculous , what strategy was that ? EAT JABS AND RIGHTS
Ive known Jesse since high school. He was totally in the fight. He was clearly losing, but you have a "no name" fighter who accepted the chalenge, Why not give him a fair chance to show his skills. Jesse can take a beating which he was showing but never showed signs of slowing up or giving up. Not that Jesse would have won the fight but he was not given a fair chance!
Nicklow was waiting for 12th round to Ko Taylor!!!!! This stopage is similar to stopages Calzaghe had in his career, only Calzaghe threw more punches twoards the end of the stopage but still the oponents clearly werent hurt and could continue, these kind of stopages and bad desicitions that is happening in boxing more often nowdays is destroying the sport that used to love, sorry for speling mistakes english is my second languege, self taught.
you also forgot to mention that jesse nicklow doesn't have the ko power of froch or abraham. dude jermain looked like a giant in there against jermain.
I see your point Dwyer. And agree with the point you are making. However, Taylor would still have lost to Abraham clearly if it had gone to the score cards. And against Froch I think Froch would have won a UD if he won round 12. Either than or a draw. But against Froch, Pavlik, Hopkins times 2, Taylor started the best of the two fighters.
Here's what Lou DiBella, Jermain's promoter, himself had to say on Twitter last night: "That was not a good stoppage. Jermain would have stopped him shortly. Too bad they didn't give Nicklow the opportunity for a clean result... Talked to Jermain. Right hand hurting. Will not be an overnight return to the top , but that isn't unexpected. Good start. Happy new year."
wow i just saw the 8th round,..its such terrible stoppage, that ref should be suspended or something, Awful stoppage, and its not fair for jermaine taylor either, its a shame i didnt read about this in the media, i dont recall any raports of that nature at all
didn't see the fight but saw a clip of the last round. bad stoppage for sure, but I expect terrible judging and terrible reffing from CA "officials".. probably one of the worst states to fight in of all.

You guys are forgetting Taylor is useless at getting KOs. So of course he needed the ref's help.

Surely you can't order a rematch when the fight is not for a belt or for a ranking with a particular organisation? No contest maybe... but no rematch
