@Savior20061 The description of the nuclear hit, at the beginning, from the three different perspectives, is very well done. So sudden, and then the whole world is totally transformed. Loved this book.

Stinger > Under the Dome

@miguedro I'm torn on this book and The Stand. Swan Song had great action, but The Stand had better characterization and the world was better drawn.

I don't know much about Stinger though. I thought it was about an alien mercenary and was more like Predator.

Great review, Christopher! Stories are richer when characters reflect, you’re right. Deus ex machine is interesting in the moment…but characters overcoming crises via themselves is often more satisfying, very true. Chaotic evil or lawful evil – interesting. Swan Song’s adventures sound brutal but awesome – I’m going to check it out & try to do a review in the future
