This phenomenon is referred to as, 'noodling', funnily enough. At least that's what it's refered to in the parts of Kentucky, Arkansas and Missouri I've heard of this interesting method of fishing. It looks goofy, but it also looks freaking fun.

yes and no, they aren't going under and grabbing them while they are swimming. these fish have made holes under rocks and there are usually two openings to the rocks. you block one with your foot or whatever, i usually have a partner if it's a big rock and then you stick your hand in and usually they will bite you and you bring them up! it's the biggest adrenaline rush in the world. once you do i once your hooked and it's in your blood.
