It is truly sad that this movie , songs, everything was a copy of the Indian film "Jagriti". Pakistan had the talent to make a completely original picture about Pakistan, but they chose to plagiarize instead. Very, very shameful. Though the copy was quite good, it's still a copy.

The full version of the song also had a stanza about Bengal in the beginning but I guess it was edited out because this clip was shown on Stn which was a tv station established way after the 71 debacle. Interestingly, yet ominously, it does not have a mention of Balochistan either. I can only hope that we learn something from history....

I'm an Indian and I know about the controversy associated with this song. But I still feel that this song is also beautiful in its own right, especially the last stanza.
I don't think there is any doubt. The Hindi version came first. Look at the child artist Master Rattan, he is much younger in Jagriti. This is a copy of Jagriti.
Comparing the two version I think the Indian version is far more poetic and nuanced poetry. but the Paki version is much better sung. Who is the singer?

Dear Amir, India's neuclear programme was as outcome of 25 years of hard work put in at BARC and DRDO. If we had to steal programmes we would have done it right in 1947. Dr. A.Q.Khan worked abroad in nuclear facilities and hence had knowledge about their nuclear designs. Dr. APJ Kalam never has worked abroad and has always been in DRDO. Hence there is no question of copying western designs by India. India after independence was the leader of Non Aligned Movement,Pak wasin USAs lap.

That's factually wrong ..Ratan Kumar a.k.a Nazir Rizvi is the kiddo who plays the physically-challenged child in both Jagriti(India) -1954 as wellas Bedari(Pakistan)-1957. I believe ou would agree that he must have been not more than 10-12 year old and at that age, i am sure could not have been producing and directing movies ..
Check wiki where it is clearly written that Jagriti was produced/directed as well as it's music given by Indian guy

The full version of the song also had a stanza about Bengal in the beginning but I guess it was edited out because this clip was shown on Stn which was a tv station established way after the 71 debacle. Interestingly, yet ominously, it does not have a mention of Balochistan either. I can only hope that we learn something from history....

I don't think there is any doubt. The Hindi version came first. Look at the child artist Master Rattan, he is much younger in Jagriti. This is a copy of Jagriti.
Comparing the two version I think the Indian version is far more poetic and nuanced poetry. but the Paki version is much better sung. Who is the singer?

I am from Pakistan and this movie embarrass me and my head is down with shame. A trend which started with film "Naukar" by Shabab Karanavi and some other idiots followed it. Yes it is a copy of Jagriti (a 1954 movie) the music was ditto copied. I don't know why those stupid opted to copy India where as they could have copied Hollywood like Indians. Its good now because Indians have been copying Pakistani block buster movies and songs too.
