That station had some powerhouse shifts during the late 70's and early 80's. And who couldnt forget Ulhorn and the bunch he had on that shift. Good guys and very knowledgeable firefighters.
Yes, the city just orders mass quantity of fronts and just adds the sticker to them. Members are allowed to purchase there own but it must have there Rank, Baltimore City, and company on it.

I remember stopping by E30 when my pals Capt. Charley Fuster & Carroll Schroeder use to rul the roost back in the day.

Any engine in baltimore city in the 60s is a reserve unit. And the station from ladder 49 is located over east on gorsage ave. The old E33 station

Its a shame that the City doesn't invest some money in rehabing some of the old stations. Alot of history in some of those old stations.
