  • Beautiful...

  • If I had to write a song about my feelings for Dana Delany it would be called "Erections".

  • Dana Delany >>> Marg Helgenberger

  • I was 3 years old when this stopped airing originally strangely enough i remember the song and the intro clearly...the episodes scared me tho so i didnt like it it used to show on lifetime

  • One of the best TV themes and TV shows ever. So far ahead of its time.

  • I miss this song..I was on China Beach...

  • WTF why isn't Ricki Lake in the credits? she was on the show

  • @coolsweetgroovy She came on later hun! I think she was in the last season as Holly The Dolly Doughnut A Red Cross Volunteer. Did you also know that "Reflections" was the last song that Florence Ballard ever sang on as a Member of The Supremes before she was fired in 1967. Hard to believe that Robert Picardo also played The Coach on The Wonder Years, Michael Boatman is now on The Good Wife, and Dana Delany became a Lesbian Icon on Desperate Housewives.

  • @laminage Ok thanks

  • I Remember both Ricki Lake and Dana Delany from China Beach but not Marg Helgenberger and the rest of the cast

  • @coolsweetgroovy thanks D, I needed that

  • @FinallyunderstandU you're welcome CC

  • @coolsweetgroovy Marg Helgenberger played a Prostitute, and upon returning to The US became a successful businesswoman who worked closely with The People Of Asia. I just had a thought, China Beach was never released on DVD. I think it has to do with the fact that alot of Recording Artists won't allow their music to be used due to copyright issues.

  • @laminage Thank u again sad it will never be on DVD

  • @coolsweetgroovy That's why The Wonder Years has never been released on DVD also. It's a shame. that was also one of my favorite shows of that time too. However, it's great that so many of them did well for themselves. Dany Delaney was on Desperate Housewives while Michael Boatman is now on The Good Wife after acting on Spin City with Michael J. Fox and Charlie Sheen.

  • @laminage cool

  • @laminage

Dude, the Wonder Years have been on Netflix instant play for quite some time now

  • @laminage the same is true of Tour of Duty, there was a lot of music on there that the studios, etc, wouldn't release but the series is still out on DVD. Got every episode. They just worked new background music into the soundtrack.. and it's funny, I can usually sit there and remember every song that was in the original episode!

  • @caretaker245231 You are so right! Thanks for reminding me! My Favorite Episode was when they did Interviews with Real Life Female Veterans and one looked just like McMurphy and she said "When My Father Drove Me To The Bus Stop, he said "I've Got Two Sons, and here I am sending my Daughter off to War." In that episode they did interviews and superimposed episodes and you saw that little things sometimes meant alot.

  • I loved China Beach featured one of my idols Ricki Lake

  • what is this gay shit???

  • ...back when Robert Picardo had some hair.

  • @DraftMasterJohn right

  • I miss this show!

  • I love this show I wish it was on in reruns.

  • Loved this show.

  • I thought I dreamed this show lol. I think I only saw one episode and then it was gone.

  • what an amasing song

  • Aw man, this shows like M.A.S.H., Im only 18 so I didnt watch it when it orriginaly came out, but thankfuly certain channels still showed it. I used to watch this every morning when I was 10.

  • I agree Dana was beutiful. The show was sometimes hard to watch . Her caracter Mcmurphy was often depressesed or in a bad mood. The only time she was happy, was when she was in love, and little comedy here and there helped a show a lot!

  • Can anyone tell me what ever happened to Dana Delany ?

  • @RedRanger1944 What do you mean what happened to her?? She was a major cast member of the popular ABC drama, "Desperate Housewives", for about two seasons before she left to star in her own TV series.

  • @RedRanger1944 She's still smoking hot...

  • She now currently stars on Body of Proof...and is seemingly a guest on talk shows every other day!

  • Love the song...never really liked Diana Ross

  • The very last episode was a killer, it was intervues with the real people this show was made from, they saw so much, it's no wonder that they came away with issues!

  • song is very appropriate because when Reflections came out in 1967, Vietnam war was raging on, and my Dad was over there fighting between 66-68.

  • you and me...

  • Man, I kinda wanna watch this! I was just a kid when it was on, and I was too young to get it. Now it looks pretty awesome.

  • @ruphia it was; i grew up watching it; i think i want to buy it; if they have it on collection... oh so many summer nights with this as a kid- (i wasn't very popular) but this was a good friend.

  • Liked it then like it even more now.

  • For those waiting for the DVD good luck. It is the same old story (remember Wonder Years?) music issues. The best you are likely to get is a clone of Tour of Duty or Northern Exposure, a bastard DVD with most of the original music gutted. You have greed and corporate capitalism to thank for this.

  • I recall Rikki Lake on this show also, when she was still fat.

  • Such a great concept...screwed over by the Left Coast!

  • It's been delayed from being released on DVD because the episodes have a lot of original songs of the era in them. The company that owns the rights to the show probably doesn't want to pay for all the clearances. It's likely that if China Beach ever does go to DVD, it'll be with generic music in the bar scenes and on the soundtrack. At this point I would hate it but just to get the episodes, it would be worth it. LOVE this series. One of the best ever made.

  • @Brighid45

Same with WKRP in Cincinnati, they have generic music instead of all the old classic rock because of the royalties. Pretty much ruined the feel of it.

  • @BadWolf762 Yeah, exactly and excellent example. I wish the studio would consider getting the clearances and then putting out a limited edition release, have people pre-order or something so they'd be guaranteed to get their money back . . . but everything has to make gazillions of dollars nowadays in Hollywood, otherwise forget it. A shame, this is one of the best series ever made. The atmosphere of the era is perfect with great writing, great acting, great direction.

  • @Brighid45 Ally McBeal was able to push forward and save all the original music so there is hope

  • @SG1Mitchell Fingers crossed! =)

  • Any day now. One of the best shows ever.

  • i have some of this on vcr tape waiting for the dvd. one of my faves

  • The Vietnam war. Deep emotions, heartache and NAPAAAALMMMM!!!!111!

  • In stereo where available

  • also amazon . com is in the process of contacting the studio about getting it released due to an overwhelming request for it.

  • There is a petition to get it on dvd on petitionspot . com. just google petition for china beach and you will find it. sign it and join the cause!!! :)

  • Tour of Duty was so much better then this!

  • We all need to find the makers of this TV Show and bombard them with emails telling them to bring this show to DVD!!!!!!

  • @fuck192ass thanks for the laugh bro. how the fuck did we end up on the china beach chat room?

  • This was one of the best series EVER

  • I'm waiting too.

  • Dana Delaney has the most amazing nipples. Watch Exit To Eden and tell me I'm wrong. Some lucky guy rubs an ice cube on those succulent works of art. Ohhh, that was a good idea!

  • Yep it is on DVD (at least here in Australia). Just Google China Beach DVD.

  • Every time I see Marg Helgenberger in this show, I keep remembering that quote from a now forgotten movie:

"That woman so fine, you'd crawl across a mile of broken glass just to drink out of her toilet."

  • I did not know the dr from China Beach is The Doctor from Voyager

  • Love this show, but I doubt it will ever hit DVD. Older shows just don't sell well, and the high music fees don't justify it.

  • Don't hold your breath. The copyrights to all the great music is so prohibitively expensive that the series will probably never come out on DVD. I am bummed too.

  • One of the best show of the Nam era.Marg and Dana were smoking hot then and still are.I served in the Nam with the Kiwi infantry and the nurses bent over backward to help us if we got wounded,A very Happy New Year to all the troops serving in Iraq and Afganistan. You are the very best.

  • @heywoodejerblowme I was with the Grape infantry in Nam and the nurses also bent forward for us as well...

  • as far as I know, it hasn't been released because of the copyright issues and the studio issues....its the same way with Crossing Jordan

  • I think of our " United States Troops " over sea,s......".Happy New Year " !

  • Wait ... I could of sworn it was "Paint it Black" was the theme song to China Beach

  • @williaminmd That was the theme to Tour of Duty.

  • holy crap... i just went back in time down memory lane... memories from my childhood n stuff... wow

  • i used to love this song and serie... still do...

  • I'd watch the show just to see Dana Delaney in her prime. I had a huuge crush on her at the time. Marg Helenberger looks pretty bomb too. But I don't recall what her role was in China Beach.

  • @lovecuthbert first hooker and then pimp =D

  • @lovecuthbert She played a hooker KC.Now she is in CSI Las Vegas.Check out Dana in Body of Proof. They maybe older but they are still smokin hot.

  • @heywoodjerbloume Are you talking about Marg Helgenberger?

  • i like opening...1994th first time watched china beach...every summmer on national tv are reruns...watch it everytime....just great....

  • buen recuerdo

  • Reruns on HTV - curently

  • I heard that the whole CHINA BEACH series show is not on DVD because of the cost to pay for the music royalitys was to high. So many great songs to pay a royalty for.

  • I remember watching this when I was a little boy.

  • United States Arm Forces:....USA Women, take care of the Troop,s and " Our Baby,s..Oh, " Our Women/Baby,s " ...Thats You !...So Proud and Miss All of You !

  • You know i never saw this show i was a big mash fan i have to watch this show it looks great!!!!

  • can anybodt tell me ehat this show is about please?

  • I don't think it will ever hit DVD which sucks, it has something to do with the music copyright information not having the rights.

  • @BostonJinx the dvds you see online for sale are all bootlegs even if they say $70+ and they have covers it is not the real DVD its a taped version from the tv and the quality isnt so good.

  • @BostonJinx

And it still beggars belief that the tv and movie companies dont know why they are losing viewers in the millions when there is a ready legitimate market to make and sell dvd's or download these programmes from Itunes. To the day they collapse they will go on blaming bootleggers and illegal downloads when they created their own destruction... lol.

  • @xr6lad I'm thinking this is the right and true answer right here...

Otherwise why would they let shows use the originals back in the day!~~

  • As I peer through the window

    Of lost time

    Looking over my yesterdays

And all the love I gave all in vain

  • The DVD(s) - it just costs 94$ to get it and shipped to you

  • Wow, China Beach, I loved this show as a kid...!

  • I served my Country........we need this on DVD!!!

  • have like all 5 seasons on dvd ! i want them all loved the show !

  • Love Love LOVE THIS. Can't wait until it's on DVD.

  • My dad fought in vietnam. He has seen every episode. Looooove the show too. It helps me understand my dad and what he went through.

  • Great great times...

  • loved it!!!

A piece of my childhood growing up in Detroit, Michigan.

And I'm asian; Chinese American in the Army.

  • Just like mostly everyone else, I'm waitng for it to come out on dvd. I was obsessed with this show. Loved Dana Delaney!!

  • As a TV show, this is 1000x better than any island reality crap that we see today. Hollywoody needs to pull its head out of ifs ass!

  • I love the series and I love Reflections by The Supremes...

  • I think megan gallagher played louella lee

    on dallas

  • the song is called Reflections by Diana Ross (the Supremes)

  • what's the title of this song???i been looking for this song..

  • Please release China Beach on DVD !

  • I'm on the waiting list for Amazon for around four years...

  • Hollywood.

The real China Beach had few women and none were round eyes.

  • i was only 8 years old when this show came on..and i was suppose to be in bed cause i think it came on at 10pm...but i use to stay up and watch it...i loved this show...that episode where the girl got shot after dancing in the rain freaked me out....still to this day i'm tramatized by that episode..lol

  • Freakin McMurphy! I love you baby!

  • la veia los domingos en canal 5 aqui en Peru a las 9 pm por los años 90´s buenaza

    good

  • fphen78, lol.......right. It is somewhat facist, possibly a little commie. Still, they could tap into a great niche market releasing it on DVD -- their loss, oh well..............

  • AWESOME show, AWESOME opening theme -- one of the best ever in TV history. It absolutely bites that they aren't putting it on DVD. It seems silly not to.

  • i know right i use to watch that i wish they would put it on dvd.. maybe cause they r commies... lol jk

  • Are you fucking kidding me?? i can't believe this isn't on dvd yet! ...does anyone know if it's coming to dvd or not?

  • It's not coming to DVD because of all the music used in the show. I know, it sucks.

  • that's ridiculous! i don't understand why they feel the need to be that way..i'd think that hearing all that great music again from the era would remind fans of songs they love that they may have forgotten about and generate album sales for those artists again...that's how i feel anyway.

  • @LedKashmir No word yet. I am on a waiting list with Netflix. I figure they will get it before the local rental stores. Tour of Duty is on DVD, I have one of the discs in the player at this moment. Why not China Beach? Speculation is the rights to music are holding it up.

    Today is December 27, 2010.

  • @donteverlietome scooters movie shop .com has the complete 1988-91 series set. $90, but well worth it in my book! FINALLY. (Had to put spaces in the above address before YouTube would let me post.)

  • @gbfeather I checked that link. Good looking out. 4 seasons at $90 isn't bad at all. Definitely at the top of my list to get.

  • @donteverlietome But wasn't alot of the same music used in Tour of Duty? It was the music of the times, of the war. Maybe the lower demand for China Beach doesn't justify the royalties they'd have to pay on the music?

  • @AbsentWithoutLeaving actually little of the music was used in Tour of Duty. Regardless of the demand they would have to pay. China Beach, Wonder Years and other shows may never be released for that reason.

  • @LedKashmir i seen it on dvd . i didnt watch it on dvd . - huh ? what does that mean . it means that i saw it available on dvd .

  • my childhood love dana delany <3

    this brings memories

  • Yeah Dana Delany is still in the ol spank bank if you know what I meen...twenty plus years...ILL BE RIGHT BACK LOL!!!

  • i know right.

  • Still waiting for the DVD release of China Beach !

  • @xxZaharoulaxx

Me too! Does anyone know when the DVD will be released? TY

  • @xxZaharoulaxx scooters movie shop .com has the complete 1988-91 series set. $90, but well worth it in my book! FINALLY.

  • Awsome show and even better Theme song.

  • Very well done, intro used to tune in just to hear the intro

  • i love how the wind hits Dana Delany at 0:10 at the same time as Diana Ross' voice starts. Awesome.

  • Thanks for the song and the memories of china beach.

Wow seems like it was just yesterday it was on t.v.
