  • Where do you get one of those practice mat things I looked every where for one and can't find one please help!!!

  • @MrREDBULL000 It's called a practice pad and you can find them all over the place. I recommend going down to your local drum shop or if not checking out a local Guitar Center. I am sure they will have a variety for you to choose from. They do not cost much either and are great. Hope I am of help.

  • How'd you get your left hand to play like that? mines all stiff

  • Thanks!

  • He's doing a favour by posting a tutorial and everyone's saying they can do better? What awesome musicianship we have among the comments.

  • Do you double stick when you play those at 150 or are they all single strokes

  • I'm not a drummer, I'm actually a bassist, but I think this is a very useful video... It might help me to control my tempos to, maybe :)

  • Hey plays not simulataneous to the metronome O.o XD strange^^

  • ha! notice that the two top rated comments are both of the people arguing with each other! That's classic.

  • the grip got better when you played faster

maybe play with a consistent grip that way you will have more control and rebound

  • So exactly what is he play?

  • Fuck

  • Traditional way of holding sticks...me I prefer non traditional ..but I do both w out thinking

  • Thanks so much! I'm an amateur you see. And I thought I was gonna die. Then i saw this vid. Horray! Thanks a lot man! :)

  • Generally speaking, matched grip is the most even. If you are holding one stick differently in on hand than the other, your evenness is inherently going to diminish. It's possible to train your traditional grip up to near-perfection, but doing the same with matched grip is much quicker and much easier.

  • Obrigado esse exercico me ajudará muito.

  • Im sorry to say, but the technique needs to be way better, but then again hes probably a drum set player, and has no knowledge of corp style playing, which requires MUCH more control

  • Shity Grip you have there i am thirteen and i am way better than you just saying......

  • @dafetheterrible post a video

  • @dafetheterrible You listen to hip hop and have no videos... Get back under your bridge.

  • @dafetheterrible Come on now.. dont be so cocky kid. Nobody grips their drum sticks the exact same way as another.. a real drummer should remember this, there is also many different ways in which you can grip your drum sticks and play with successfully. so dont judge his grip its possible he uses that grip for that beat and another grip for another beat. :P

  • @dafetheterrible

he posted a video to help us?

don't complain if YOU typed in how to develop your hand speed and watched for help.

it's like biting the hand that feeds you..

  • @dafetheterrible No gives a shit, just saying.......

  • That was kind of cool.... I need to start doing more of this stuff, don't get a lot of kit time at the moment.

  • Good video (sort of). A little commentary would have been nice...

  • work on your grip.... with out that you will regret..

  • You know what I mean you fucking faggot

  • @JourneyCamperMen1an2 is right, the technique isn't good, at all. and look is actually a lot. no one wants to look at someone who looks unprofessional. Him playing like that actually takes a lot of the sound away. He didn't say anything about being better also. He could have been nicer with his comment, but it just looks choppy and sounds bad if you play like that.

  • Work on your grip and google "Moeller". Rant over.

  • SPEED IS NOT HOW YOU GET BETTER AT DRUMS! MUSIC IS NOT PHYSICAL IT'S SPIRITUAL

  • @checkmatehelp you're retarded

  • you need to work on the grip man...

  • thumbs arent even in the right place! thats horriblee. and your slicing

  • Lol @ this JourneyCamperMen1an2 guy. I'm willing to bet he has absolutely no chops and awful technique but has convinced himself he's actually got it all down. Typical bedroom amateur that likes to pretend he knows shit and then decides to criticise two different drum teachers. If he's not a troll then he's definitely a moron.

  • @destoroyah27 changing beats? lol what are you even talking about.

  • journeycampermen1an2 is actually right. even though he couldve been a little nicer about it.

  • wtf thats good !

  • dude, @journeycampermen1an2: shut the hell up. you're the worst type of commenter.

  • @capslockmurder Agree xD He doesn't know a crap....DRUM, you are good man!

  • @capslockmurder: Why? Just because I actually know what good technique, sound quality, touch, and chops are? This guy needs to learn not to embarass himself on the internet by learning how to drum properly, maybe then will I not bash him for his ignorance and inexperience.

  • @JourneyCamperMen1an2 dude, look at your awful videos of you playing in some shitty band. what a troll

  • @capslockmurder I never played in that band, I didn't like the people in their. That was Dalin and his band, I'm a Drumline kinda guy, not a "band" kinda guy.

  • @JourneyCamperMen1an2 dude if want to learn how to play with a death grip, i will watch your lame ass videos

  • Dude, I don't know if you've gotten better technique over the year, but honestly, this is a joke. Technique sucks, your sticks aren't pitched, consistency isn't that good, and you have almost know control: Your fulcrum on both hands is ok, you're slicing like crazy, your middle finger comes off the stick COMPLETELY, giving you less control, your right wrist is bent down WAY too far, and your fingers aren't on the stick at all. Please, so you don't embarass yourself, take lessons. Like, now.

  • @JourneyCamperMen1an2 YOUR TECHNIQUE ISN'T THAT EXACT SAME AS MINE, STOP DOING WHAT'S COMFORTABLE FOR YOU AND DO IT THE WAY I DO!!!! YOU'RE SO BAD!

  • @JourneyCamperMen1an2 does the word developing mean anything to you?

  • @JourneyCamperMen1an2 ... you have got to be kidding me ... tiger bill has some of the best hands in the business ... Maybe he doesnt conform to your little section leader`s rules on what your hands should look like but who gives a shit ... this guys hands are off the charts ... amazing speed and great accuracy .... you telling him to take lessons is a fucking joke ... oh , and by the way , he did take lessons ...from Joe Morello ... who the hell have you studied with ?

  • The point of this video is to incorporate dexterity exercises with combinations of figures (eighth, sixteenth, triplets) . The only thing I would further incorporate would be the feet! Systems such as these are probably the best for developing consistent and disciplined practice routines on the drumset - super valuable!

    P.S. don't feed the trolls!

  • @JourneyCamperMen1an2 who gives a fuck what it looks like dude, its the sound that counts. As they say in the movie moneyball. "Don't care how he gets there, just as long as hes on base." same concept.

  • @bluetseel Yeah, the sound counts. If only his sounded good, his sticks aren't pitched, and his touch is terrible, making it sound uneven and super quiet. If he's gonna drum with Traditional, then he should use marching sticks that have been pitched, and then work on his touch. I didn't mean to start a big fight, I just wanted to let the people out there that thought he was amazing that he needed work. I need work too, but still...

  • @JourneyCamperMen1an2 feel free to post a video of you doing this to a metronome =)

  • @JourneyCamperMen1an2 I just commented on your video... Mainly because I read this and saw that you said you're a drumline guy... There's a huge difference between being a drumline guy, and being a drum set guy.

There's no right answer when it comes to drum set. That should end it right there.

When I'm marching, I'm playing like everyone else on that snare line. When I'm playing drum set, I'm playing the way feels good to me.. And it "looks" horrible, like Tiger Bills.. Almost the same.

  • @bluetseel that is by far the most idiotic analogy i have ever seen in my life.......give yourself a round of applause for making yourself retarded by using the concept of baseball for drumming.

  • @JourneyCamperMen1an2 technique does not suck.and his right wrist is so low because hes using the flick technique dumbshit

  • Nicely done

  • lol we have the same practice pad

  • this guy is serious?

  • hey, does anyone have the notation?

  • @GregJamesArden google it

  • Was he doing a roll or was he just really fast.

  • @bojanglewangle just played up to speed nothing fast

  • traditional is nothing more than visual. its all preference

  • @synisterdrums

If you master them both, in that case it's all preference. Personally trad's a bitch to learn.

  • @Arthemesic Personally I way prefer traditional grip,

my lefty goes retarded when I go matched...

Btw fancy seeing you here Arthemesic haha

  • @phycho91

    You too, dude! :D

If you can do trad better than matched, keep going, might end up being the new Nick Pierce! ^^

My leftie's also retarded, but I'm fixing it all the time.

  • Hey thats looks good. I should practice on that. But could you tell me whats the reason why you hold your left drumstick that way? I was wondering for a while, because I see that by the common drummers.. and was too lazy to find out why, on the web :).

  • @Ijsbrandy91 its call the traditional grip

  • @Ijsbrandy91 Traditional grip, just another way of holding the sticks. =]

  • @Ijsbrandy91 it was either jojo mayer or thomas lang [both trad players] who said something like the only advantage to it is it makes a drummer seem more sophisticated. i started out trad and eventually stuck w matched. neil peart seemed like he was going to permanently switch to trad. and then when back to trad. i think some drummers just started out trad and never want to leave it. i dont think theres any reason for it anymore since marching snares are now designed so we can play matced w them

  • @sticksbass if there were really any advantage to holding a stick like that, why not hold them like that w both hands? and who does that?

  • @sticksbass

Traditional grip is usual around drumlines, connection?
