  • North American viewers think they are looking at a Golden-crowned Kinglet, but this is the European equivalent. They are similar in appearance but not identical.

  • Oh my GOD!!! I've been looking for this bird, I've been trying to identify it for the past 3 years!

  • i'm amazed it stayed in your hand long enough to film, amazing bird

  • compared to its cousin, the goldcrest, they are very rare!

  • We had a similar experience with a similar little bird. I've responded with our video.

  • im sure its a Firecrest isnt it? Very rare..

  • Excellent video, where was this filmed?

  • I don't know the English name. In Latin it is Regulus ignicapillus.

In Frakfurt /M. (Germany) I cached a Regulus regulus (the smallest bird in Europe) in the winter garden of the Commerce Bank Tower. They don't have air conditioning but a kind of air circulation to cool the bureaus in summer. So there is always an open "window". And often birds get trapped in these winter gardens. The Bird was so exhausted, I could catch it with my hands. I released the little sunshine in a Park outside.

  • Looks like a golden crowned kinglet

  • very similar indeed, the firecrest has a black stripe through the eye and i think the crest is more orange.

  • @raifeb Ive touche more than one bird h

  • You're so lucky, that lovely little bird is very rare schedule 1 bird! I do hope it was ok.
