if its a real boot sequence it must be booting from a solid state drive, on a netbook perhaps. with a normal spinning drive you cant get a boot time like this (yet).

but 9.10 apparently has many other cool improvements, so thats no reaason not to try it out.

Grub2 but in ubuntu 9.10 X will load really early so they will be able to use X for the bootup animation

Very nice! Simple, effective, will work on fast booting systems and the aesthetics are very nice.

I like this one. Its simple and you aren't greeted with a text screen to access other OSs you probably only use every once in a while.
