Hey guys I'm just starting to listen to simon and garfunkel. I've found quite a few songs that I love but can you suggest any to me. What are your favorites?
This kind of music reminds me of working at the grocery store listening to the Muzak station. I love music from the 70's/ 80's like John Lennon and The Carpenter's when music had feeling and meaning.
ok i have a question. when i get 40 or 50 will today's artists be considered as classics? and when i ll be hearing to them in the future (accedentaly only) will i be feeling nostalgic for my generation and those years?? coz it seems to me that today's music (with handful of exceptions) doesn't wake any feelings to anyone. it only a matter of fashion i believe.
*Sigh* Why must I have been born in an age where I got made fun of as a kid for liking Simon and Garfunkel? They're so amazing! Simon and Garfunkel's smooth sounds and soothing melodies are timeless :D
they did this without "enhancements:" that so many of today's so called singers use, just pure real music!!!!! God bless Paul and Art for so many memories...
@lu5do It's on several albums. This version is on the album "Live From New York City, 1967" but there's a more pop-ish version on the album "Sounds of Silence." The original however is on an old album called "The Paul Simon song book." All of the versions are great.
SUCH inspired guitar playing on this - made all the more exquisite by being unchallenged by other instruments. I didn't know of this song until YouTube came along, but it is now one of my favorite S & G creations, with its intense sadness and melancholy mixed with true artistic greatness and sounds plucked out of thin air which leave one feeling amazingly good despite the nature of the subject matter.
i wouldn't say that today's music isn't good...but it's def true that there is a lot of modern music out there that has lost its spirit due to commercial hidden agenda
i dont like people who think that tier intellectually superior to today's music. people are just doing thier own thing and maybe they DONT know whats up btu thats not thier fault, or thier parents fault or scocietys fault. its not a fault. thats just the way it is. they'll find out eventually. and i kind of like that.
Good job, Big. nice viceo and sound equal to the quality of the music. Simon was my big hero in college. And his music holds up well after all those years. Real artists these two lads.
I come back to S&G songs every week or so and it always strikes me how great S&G fans are. All the other boards I visit are filled with hate and scathing arguments, but on the S&G boards there always seems to be mostly positivity being sent out into the ether. Thanks everyone for the uplifting comments.
Perfectly executed ... that is A-C-E !!! Excellent. Thanks for this very wholesome post.
My affinity for their music and poetry spanned 3 decades - love their tunes, love these guys. 17 going 70 (67 this year), love them just the same. Can't beat their repertoire - timeless, poignant, classic. They are one of the best!
Thrilled for their upcomoing 'Old Friends' tour in mid-June here at the land down under.
really relaxing. Thanks for the video. Looks like you spent alot of time on it. If i had attempted to make a video to this i would probably have made it like this :)
I hadn't heard this before. This does what all S+Gs best music does- it gives me this aching need for the music, and reflects my life right back at me. Thanks so much.
